What's up guys, Christian here, and today I'm gonna show you
how to unlock your iPhone X.
So as you may already know, there are two types of locks.
First, you have the carrier unlock
and then you have the passcode unlock.
The carrier unlock is if your phone is currently locked
for a specific network.
Let's say you bought your phone with AT&T and you want
to unlock it, use it with T-Mobile or any other carrier,
I'm gonna how you to unlock your phone so that you can
use it with any carrier of your choice.
And then you have the passcode lock.
The passcode lock, for example, is if you forgot
the security code of your phone and you're locked out.
So, I'm gonna show you how to access your phone again.
It's very simple, so, I'm gonna show you how to do it
step-by-step.
We're gonna start first with the passcode unlock
and then we're gonna go to the carrier unlock.
If you're interested only on the carrier unlock,
make sure you skip to this minute to jump straight into
that part of the video.
Okay, so for the passcode unlock there are a few things you need
to consider before proceeding.
The first thing is that if your phone has an iCloud lock,
we're not gonna be able to unlock it.
There's no way around an iCloud lock.
The second part is that all the information of that phone
is gonna be deleted, so make sure you have a backup somewhere
in a computer or in a cloud
or all the photos, pictures, contacts, everything
are gonna be gone.
Okay, so now I'm gonna turn camera so you can see
what I'm currently doing with my phone.
So, connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable
and then you have to run the latest version of iTunes
on your computer.
Okay, the next step is to enter recovery mode on your iPhone.
So press and hold the power off key until you get the switch
to power it off.
So right after you slide to power off,
you're gonna press and hold the volume down key and the side key.
Keep holding it until you see the connect to iTunes logo.
You're gonna see something just like this.
It's gonna take like 10 seconds
and if you don't get it the first time, you can try again
and again; it's quite tricky to get it the first time.
So, if you did it correctly, you're going to get a message
in iTunes saying that your phone has been detected
as recovery mode.
So click restore and it's gonna erase
all the information of your phone.
So, keep in mind that all the data, all the information
is gonna be gone.
So after this is done, you're going to able to use your phone.
Your phone is gonna be restored and it's gonna be back
as if was completely new.
So, this is gonna take a while
and I'm gonna fast forward the camera and I'm gonna be back
once this is completed.
So, as you can see here, my phone was restored
to factory settings
and now you can restore from a previous backup you had
or you can set it up as a new iPhone.
If your phone is locked with an iCloud account,
the only way to bypass this
is to to by entering the correct password of that account.
So you need to contact the previous owner this phone
to unlock the iCloud account.
So, I have my phone here and, boom, it is now fully unlocked.
Okay, so now we're going to do a factory unlock on this phone
so that you're able to use it with any GSM carrier
in the world.
It's super simple and I'm gonna show you step-by-step.
Okay, to unlock a phone, there are basically three options.
The first option is to take your phone to a local phone shop.
The second option is to take your phone to your carrier
and ask them to unlock for you.
And the third option, my personal favorite,
is to do it yourself from your computer
and that's the simplest and fastest way to unlock your phone.
Now, keep in mind that unlocking your phone is not free.
Your phone won't be damaged in any way,
Your warranty won't be voided.
In fact, if you unlock your phone,
your phone will become more valuable and you will be able
to resell it at a higher price because it will be compatible
with all carriers.
I have unlocked hundreds of phones this way
so it's, by far, my favorite method.
Okay, so grab your phone and I'm gonna show you how to unlock it.
I'm gonna switch cameras.
Alright guys, so, to unlock your phone,
the first thing you want to do is to get your phone's IMEI number.
To do this, simply grab your phone,
open the phone application,
and dial *#06#
As you will see, your phone's IEMI number will appear
in the screen.
This is very, very important, guys.
This number is the way Apple will identify your phone.
This is a unique number, it is 15 digits long
and we're gonna use this number in a few seconds
to unlock this phone, so, keep it somewhere close
or write it down somewhere.
Okay, now we're gonna switch to the computer.
So, I'm gonna put this phone down and now it's time
to use the internet.
So, we're gonna go to the computer and we're gonna go
to the website UnlockRiver.com
In this website, we're gonna unlock this phone.
We're gonna request their remote unlocking of this iPhone X.
So this is very fast, very simple
and we're gonna start by selecting the original carrier
that your phone is currently locked.
I bought my phone on AT&T, United States,
so I'm gonna select that one.
And then go ahead and select your brand.
So we're gonna select Apple.
We're gonna select the model, iPhone X.
And then, the most important part is to enter your phone's
IMEI number; that's the number we got a few moments ago.
So write it down here and make sure 100% correct.
If you write it down incorrectly, they won't be able
to unlock your phone.
So just make sure you write down correctly.
And the last step is to write down your email
where you want to be notified once your iPhone has been
successfully unlocked.
Perfect, now scroll down and you're gonna see the price
and the average delivery time to unlock your phone.
Try not to pay much attention to the delivery time and the price.
This may vary depending on your phone's brand, carrier, model
and they're always changing, depending on the market price.
Okay, we're gonna hit unlock now and then you can double check
your order, make sure you read all the information here.
And there's some important information that you need
to consider for unlocking your phone but don't worry
your phone won't be damaged in any way, it is completely safe.
There are no downsides of unlocking your phone,
to be honest.
And then we're gonna complete the order.
I'm gonna place my order, so, I'm gonna take a few seconds
and I'm gonna be back
once my order has been placed successfully.
Okay, so after placing the order, you're going to get
a confirmation screen just like this.
This confirms that your order has been placed successfully
and now you just have to wait until your iPhone has been
factory unlocked.
Now, this may take a while, it depends on every case,
the waiting time.
In my case, it's one to five business days
but this doesn't mean that it's gonna be the same for you.
So, after this time has passed, you're gonna get an email
just like this.
I'm gonna show you the email that I received.
We're gonna go to my personal email account.
And I'm gonna show you how the email will look like.
So as you can see here, the last email I got is from Unlock River
and it says your iPhone has been factory unlocked successfully.
And as you can see here, it says my phone was actually
unlocked successfully and now we just need to activate the unlock.
So there are two methods you can activate your unlock.
First method is to connect your phone to wifi
and the second method is to connect your phone to iTunes.
We're gonna use the second method.
So we're gonna open iTunes, plug in your phone.
So once you connect your iPhone to iTunes,
you're gonna get this message:
Your iPhone has been successfully unlcoked.
And that, my friend, is how you do a factory unlock
on an iPhone X.
