in this video I want to talk about this
mydia Cube smart dehumidifier and we're
going to do it
right now
[Music]
I wanted to start this video out with a
true story for the past couple of months
I have been thinking about getting a new
dehumidifier and the reason for that is
the one that I have now is getting
pretty old and the way I can tell it's
getting old is that it's getting really
loud and in my experience when a
dehumidifier starts getting loud that's
when it stops working it's a little
sneaky too it'll run it'll be loud but
it won't collect any water so at some
point I knew I had to get a new
dehumidifier so I started looking online
looking at the store and I came across
this one and I said that's the one I'm
going to get I love my Dia I have a
freezer in my basement and you may have
seen the air conditioner video that I
did for the u-shaped air conditioner
that's an idea and I have two of them
and I love them so I support this
company and this is a really Innovative
design it is Compact and you can control
it with your smartphone which I think is
really cool so I decided that's the one
that I'm going to get when the time
comes and then I swear that week my idea
reached out to me and said hey do you
want a dehumidifier and you can make a
video on it and I said of course now
just so you know just because somebody
sends me a product to try it out doesn't
mean I make a video for it every single
time sometimes I get halfway through the
video and say no this isn't right for my
audience but if you're seeing this video
that means I 100 approve of this product
and I'm recommending it to you so let's
get into it
I'm obviously going to take this
dehumidifier out of the box and show you
what it's all about but you can get a
really good idea of just looking at the
box right off the bat that does not look
like any dehumidifier that I've ever
seen anyways and definitely a compact
design even the box is small designed it
for up to 3 500 square feet 35 pints a
day which is impressive for such a
compact unit energy STAR certified you
can control it with your phone flexible
draining options all kinds of cool stuff
so we're going to take it out of the box
and take a closer look take this out of
the box that's misleading it's really
not heavy not compared to other
dehumidifiers anyways
but
out
packaged nicely
never cut towards yourself quick start
guide
and get the full manual
like so so
put it like this
and we can take it where it is going to
live into the basement
so this is where this is going to live
and if you're wondering how heavy this
is it's listed at 41 pounds which is
nothing when you have a handle
especially for me this is going to come
in really
handily handy as you know I do a lot of
home repair so whenever I do drywall mud
I'll lug this dehumidifier upstairs or
sometimes to other people's houses just
to dry the mud out quicker so I can sand
it faster obviously I'm not going to
leave this in the room when I sand
because that'll clog up the filters but
it will dry the stuff out quicker and
moving it around the house and to other
people's houses even that's going to
make a huge difference so here is my old
dehumidifier it serves me well but it's
gotta get an upgrade
and you can see the bucket is full and
it has been for a couple days basically
just because I forgot luckily with the
mydia unit it will actually send an
alert to your phone to tell you when the
bucket's full so that's a cool feature
the humidifier out of the way for now
[Music]
I'm going to spin this
so that the water level indicator is
right here this is in storage mode right
now so this is where you would be able
to move it around to wherever you want
to or if you want to put it in actual
storage but to set it up all you have to
do is grab this handle pull this up
twist it and drop it into place and
you're good to go but something that's
worth noting if you want to put it back
in storage mode lift up you spin it and
it's going to be stopped right here
because there's a safety feature if
you're using this and this fills up with
water they don't want you to drop this
back down into the water obviously so
there is a safety feature right here
these clips
need to be pushed back in
and they snap
and then you can put it back in storage
mode
but we're gonna set it up for use so we
spin it
drop it down
we're good to go you can plug it in
when you set this up for use just make
sure that these arrows align and that
the water level indicator is on the same
side as all these buttons and they
recommend eight inches on each side to
stay away from any kind of walls or any
anything and then 16 inches from here
you don't want to block the fan because
it will not work as well
so that's it for setup pull it up drop
it down and now it is going to work just
like a regular dehumidifier all of the
features are right here and if you're
not one to use uh an app for smart
devices I don't know why you wouldn't
because they're so cool but if you're
intimidated by that at all all you have
to do is treat it like a normal
dehumidifier
if you want to run this dehumidifier
without the smart app that is totally
fine you can do that I highly recommend
it though because it's got some cool
features that I will be showing you but
a general rundown of the buttons here
obviously the power button you have the
fan speed low high and this is also to
reset the filter indicator this will
tell you when you need to clean the
filter once you do clean it you hold
this button down for three seconds and
it will clear that indicator the modes
right now it's on continuous which means
it's just going to run regardless of
what the Hue humidity percentages it's
59 right now and you can change that by
putting this to set and then changing
the humidity right here all the way down
to 35 percent this is a really cool
feature fill level so right now it's on
three if you put it to four
this will fill up with 4.25 gallons of
water which is awesome
but it's a lot of water some people
might not be able to lift that or maybe
you don't want to
so right here you can change it where
if you set it to one with this
particular model it will fill the bucket
up with 2.25 gallons two
we'll fill it with three gallons
three will fill it to
3.75 and 4 will fill it all the way with
4.25 gallons so that's a nice feature
the timer
change with these buttons
I want to set it for an hour half an
hour
whatever you want to do
so these buttons are cool and everything
but let me show you how the app works
because that's really cool you can
basically control your dehumidifier from
anywhere in the world so this is the
mydia app right here and right off the
bat what I like about it is it's one app
to control all devices I have two air
conditioners right here that are off
right now because it's the winter winter
time and the dehumidifier is right here
you can see basement so if I click on
that you can turn this on right here but
before I turn that on I'll show you this
up here
if you need to change from where you are
Europe North America 20 pint 35 pint or
50 pint according to what unit you have
the about gives you some technical
information drainage mode which I'll
talk about in a little bit and share
device if you click on that a QR code
will pop up they can scan your phone and
then control this device your
significant other your parents your kids
whatever the case I'm not going to show
it because I don't want you turning this
thing on and off this is what I really
want to show you is schedules
so I'm going to add an event it has this
whole calendar here
and I'm gonna do two o'clock AM
this is to turn the unit on or off I'm
going to say on and I'm going to click
here and set that for Tuesday
and go back so on Tuesday the
dehumidifier is going to come on at 2 am
I can control all of the different
settings right here if I want to change
the humidity level the fan if I want it
to be set to continuous I can do that
and click OK I can even label it
dry time
and then I'm going to confirm so now you
can see everything is in green so that
means that this thing is going to be on
all the time so it comes on on Tuesday I
only want to run it until Thursday so at
12 a.m I'm going to turn it off
on
Thursday
and you can repeat this every week
and this is going to be
off
so now I confirm and you can see the
green that's when the dehumidifier is
running so you can click that and edit
it if you want to and then you can go
back and go here and it shows these you
can turn them on and off according to
what you want to do
so that's a pretty cool little feature
and when we go back here we can turn
this on and control
all of the stuff if you don't want to
set up schedules you can just control it
from here you can change the fan speed
adjust the humidity this will give you
an estimate of when the tank will be
full it's at nine percent right now it's
estimated to fill up in 16 hours and
this is where you can change the alert
so the water level alert is at level two
if I wanted to fill this bucket all the
way up I changed it to level four and it
will send me a notification and turn the
dehumidifier off when it gets to that
level
go all the way to one so I'm sitting on
my couch and I forgot to turn this on or
it's getting a little dry I can turn it
off right from my phone or if I'm in
London or if I'm in Iceland or wherever
I am I can can control this in my
basement my little sleepy town of
Massachusetts
so I've had this thing set up for about
a week and these are the things that I
noticed about it it dropped the humidity
in my basement quicker than my last one
did and along with that I didn't have
the issue of it heating up like my old
one did I had a trade-off before where
it would take the humidity out but the
unit would be so hot that it would heat
up the space around it and that might be
due to the fan on the top regardless if
that is the case I like that it has the
fan on the top because I feel like it
circulates the air and that might be the
reason why it works so much quicker just
circulating the air like that so now if
I wanted to because it is easy to move
around once I got the humidity to where
I wanted it to be in the basement I can
move it around the house I'm not going
to always have air conditioners in every
room at all times so if I want to make
the room a little more comfortable I can
set up this dehumidifier in my living
room in my bedroom and maybe most
importantly my bathroom the reason why I
think it's so important to be able to
put a dehumidifier in my bathroom is
because bathrooms just have a lot of
moisture in them generally from a shower
you run a shower this place fills up
with steam that steam needs to go
somewhere I have a really powerful
exhaust fan that I leave on I try to
leave it on for 10 20 30 minutes but
sometimes you're in a rush run out the
door and that moisture just sits in here
and even if that fan does run it doesn't
get everything that moisture is going to
sit on or in your walls your ceiling and
it's a good idea to just set up a
dehumidifier every once in a while and
suck all that out so you don't have
issues with mold mildew any of that
stuff so I have the dehumidifier set up
and today is a typical day where a
couple showers we're taking a couple
hours ago and I can feel that it's
pretty humid in here so I'm going to set
this up for about a day and regardless
of what this tells me I'm just going to
put it on continuous and hopefully that
will help to just dry this bathroom out
and I'm going to end up doing that maybe
once every month or so just in case I
wanted to show you the capacity of my
old dehumidifier Reservoir compared to
the new one so I have two buckets
exactly four and a half gallon set up
here and I'm just gonna pour them both
out so you can see in comparison
I actually had to drill this out to make
it easier to pour because this
did not work so well
[Applause]
there's my old one
and my DIA
4.25 gallons and again you don't have to
fill it up that much the key features
for me that I think make this unit cool
and unique are the large capacity that
you actually can choose when the bucket
is full I like that it has handles you
can store it you can move it around
pretty easily it's relatively
lightweight compared to other units and
it has a really cool app there's one
other thing that this unit has that I'm
pretty excited about I'll show you that
right now this dehumidifier has a bucket
list option and what that means is you
can hook up a hose in the back here
just pop that little rubber cap off and
then hook up the hose that comes with it
or you can use a normal garden hose
attachment and drain it right into a
drain
so just a couple things that are worth
mentioning if you are doing something
like this when you set this up on
something higher than the floor just be
careful and make sure it's stable the
last thing you want to do is have this
fall over it could hurt somebody and it
could break obviously so just make sure
it's on a solid surface if you need to
drain it into something like this or a
sink half the time that I was emptying
out my dehumidifier I was giving the
plants out front some water and the
other half they were going down these
pipes out to the street anyways so this
is going to eliminate that step and have
me not have to empty a bucket this unit
is nice because it's a little lighter
and I feel pretty comfortable raising it
off the floor like this putting it on
something solid they do make some models
of this unit with pumps built into them
but I didn't need one since it was right
there now I can store stuff underneath
it since I can't store anything on top
of it I think this is a perfect
situation for me to activate The Bucket
List mode you need to hook up the hose
first of all most important and then you
hold fill level and this Arrow up
for three seconds
should be activated now
if you did end up doing bucket list
drainage like this you'll have to go
into the app and change the drainage
mode to whatever you did some models
have a pump in them you'll have to
select that in the app just so it
reflects accordingly to how your
dehumidifier setup another thing I want
to show you is where the filters are on
this
the intakes for this dehumidifier are
all the way around
from here to the other side that's what
this screen is
that's what that is in the back and then
on this side same thing so there's two
filters you have to lift this handle up
if it isn't already and then you grab
right here
and pull out it's held in by these two
tabs
and comes out just like this and it has
this bend on it and that goes around the
back side so to clean this just use warm
soapy water and you can give it a little
Scrub but try and be gentle and don't
use any bleach or anything and before
you put it back in make sure it's
completely dry and to put it back in
remember the way the bend goes
and then slide it back in just like this
until it Clips in
just like that and the other filter is
the same thing
just on the opposite side I have no
doubts that I am going to love this
dehumidifier for years to come I love my
air conditioners the freezer is great
it's several years old and it still
works great this unit is much more quiet
than my old dehumidifier so that's a
plus I love that I don't have to change
a bucket now and I just want to send a
huge shout out to my Dia that's how you
say it I was saying it wrong in my other
video my idea thanks so much for sending
this to me and I'm not here to sell it
