I'm Agent Smith welcome to the lab
you're here because your computer is
frozen it can be so frustrating
lucky for you agents like me are experts
at getting computers unstuck before we
get started there are a few things you
should know first these tech tips are
for computers running Windows 10 and
while these steps may unfreeze your
computer they might not solve the reason
why it's getting stuck
it could be hardware or software issues
too many resources being used too often
or even a virus or malware
if it keeps locking up or you decide
you'd rather get some one-on-one help
from an agent look below this video
we've put links to two ways to get help
ok let's fix the problem you're dealing
with right now here's my computer you
can see notepad is not responding so
first we should try to close the frozen
app open task manager hot tip there are
a few ways to do it but I like to press
the control shift and escape Keys
together it'll bring up the task manager
which is a list of everything that's
running right now select the frozen
application then click end task that
should force it to close hot tip there's
a quicker way to close an app if it's
frozen or not use a keyboard shortcut
press Alt + f4 it should close the
window you were using last now your
computer might be unfrozen mine isn't so
I'm going to restart Windows Explorer
that's not the old web browser it's the
file manager for Windows 10 open the
task manager like you did before then
find the processes tab if you don't see
it click on more details at the bottom
of the window there we go under name
look for Windows Explorer it might be
way at the bottom highlight it then
select restart give it a second to
restart then see if your unfrozen
still frozen dos tres we have more
things to try it's time for a restart if
you can't get your computer to reboot
using the Start menu try this press the
ctrl alt delete' keys together then find
the power icon in the bottom right
corner click on restart if all of these
tips failed it's time for the last
resort a hard shut down we do this one
last because there's a chance some data
could be damaged since windows won't
shutdown correctly
press and hold the power button until
the screen goes black and the power
indicator shuts off give it a sec and
turn your computer on if you want
we hope these tech tips helped if your
computer freezes again check out the
links below this video there's one to a
video on how to speed up a lagging
computer and a link to chat with an
agent who can remote into your computer
and see what's going on if you thought
