this has got the fix it guy
our goal with our videos is to empower
you to be able to do the repairs
on your own and save a whole lot of
money
and also get that great feeling of
having fixed it
by yourself so we have a whirlpool
front load washer getting a blinking
door
locked light and
all the controls are non-responsive
you can hear the drains active it's
trying to drain
so it could be that the drain's blocked
um if the drain system isn't working and
it can't get rid of the water
it won't let you open the door because
they're worried that if you open the
door
there'll be a big uh flood
so try to figure out what's going on
we're gonna
just kill the power for maybe a couple
of minutes and then
put the power back and see if it will
reset
so that drain went out it's interesting
you still get the door locked light a
little longer
might be a capacitor keeping that going
and then you could hear a relay just
click it went off so we're going to wait
a few minutes and then we'll
uh res we'll plug it in and see if it'll
reset
it's been about five minutes we're gonna
see if there's any change
plug it back in
drain fired right up you can hear that
so it looks like it's got the same thing
going on my guess
is that the drain is uh
it's blocked it's not able to get rid of
the water in there so it's
basically in a flooded state it's going
to just keep draining
drain's going to stay active and it
won't it won't let new water in and
won't continue the cycle
so i undid the drain hose i put it in a
bucket
and got some water to come out
and then it seemed like when that
water dropped off a little bit it
turned off and allowed the door to open
so it might have just been holding
some water in there although the clothes
seem like they're
rung dry pretty good
so we're gonna set it for spin and see
what happens
try to drain and spin
seems like it's starting up okay
so it should sense the load and then
drain becomes active and it should pick
up speed
and hopefully the water will strain out
here in the bucket
make sure there's no clogged oftentimes
this is kind of a situation the clog
ends up being right there in the t
just gonna put something up in there to
see anything obvious
feels good though it doesn't feel like
there's anything mushy in there
[Music]
the spin program is 13 minutes long
right now it's just
moving the clothes around it's sensing
trying to make sure the load is evenly
dispersed
and then it should gradually pick up
speed
and it'll ring out all the clothes and
we'll let all that water just come out
right here
you see a little bit coming out so i
don't think the drains plugged i think
it probably was
a problem with this union right here
should pick up speed more and more now
just starting to pick up some speed
and more centrifugal force more water
comes out
and more water will go now into the
drain
