hey guys this is dr glitch and welcome
back to a brand new video so in this
video i'm going to be helping you guys
enable and play fortnite on 120fps on
your brand new playstation 5.
now i'm also aware of the fact that a
lot of people still can't play fortnite
on 120 fps
despite of having a monitor that
actually supports 120 fps so i'm going
to be addressing this issue as well i'm
going to be explaining to you as to why
exactly this happens and what is the
solution for it
along with showing you guys how to
enable 120 fps on your ps5 so without
any further ado let's just get right
into the video
all right guys so first of all in order
to enable 120 fps on your ps5
what you're going to do is you're going
to go under settings
and then scroll down and go on to save
data and game app settings
scroll down again and go on to game
presets and then once you're here you're
gonna see an option
to either enable performance mode
resolution mode or game default now as
you guys can see we've currently got a
resolution mode enabled which means that
the output is going to be 4k
and the fps is going to be capped at 60.
now let me tell you guys that this is
only useful if you have a 4k display if
you just have a 1080p monitor and if
you're going to use this mode it's going
to be of no use
because the output is still going to be
4k and you're not going to be able to
experience it at
all the only thing that's gonna happen
is your ps5 is gonna consume
a lot of power since the output is still
4k due to which you may even experience
lag at some point as the game progresses
so i definitely recommend you guys to
use performance mode if you have a 1080p
display and if you want to play fortnite
on 120fps
this is the mode that you want to select
once you've selected this
just go back and start fortnite
all right guys so once you're in the
game what you want to do is you're going
to head over to settings
so just press the options button on your
ps5 controller
and just head over to settings now as
you guys can see there's no 120 fps
option
on your screen right now so i'm going to
tell you guys why this happens and how
to fix this
so basically if you don't see a 120 fps
mode on your screen
it pretty much means that you're using a
display or monitor that only supports
hdmi one output now in terms of hardware
you can only
achieve more than 100 fps if you're
using hdmi 2.0
or above this is because hdmi 1.0 cannot
physically transfer data at such high
speeds which is why you require
hdmi 2.0 and that's the reason most
144hz displays
usually use a dvi cable to achieve such
high transfer speeds
now if you really don't want to spend
money purchasing a new display that
supports hdmi 2.0 there's an alternative
that you can use
you can pretty much use a dvi to hdmi
adapter
which would allow you to connect your
display using a dvi cable
and then on the other side you would
have an hdmi adapter that would allow
you to connect your ps5
using an hdmi cable i'm going to be
leaving the amazon link to this in the
description below in case you guys want
to check it out
but just you guys know even though this
would allow you to play fortnite on
120fps
on your ps5 using the same display it
does have its drawbacks
it's not as consistent as having a
dedicated hdmi 2.0 port
on your display as it does lag sometimes
and you might experience a few frame
drops here and there
but if you guys don't want to compromise
on this i'm going to be leaving links to
a few displays that support hdmi 2.0
and also 144 gigahertz in the
description box down below in case you
guys want to check that out
but once you guys have a display that
supports hdmi 2.0
this is what you're going to see on your
screen and then you can directly turn on
the 120 fps mode that you see on the
screen right now
and with that you're gonna be able to
play fortnite on 120 fps on your ps5
so that was pretty much the video guys i
hope you find this video helpful and if
you do please don't forget to leave a
like to this video and also do not
forget to subscribe to my channel
thanks a lot for watching i'll talk to
you guys in the next one
