hello and welcome to how to unprotect
cells in Excel my name is Jeff rip and
you could visit my site marketing study
guide here is one of the free templates
I offer on my sites and what you'll find
is there are gold cells that you can
type into and the blue cells are
protected so if you go to type over
you'll get this message now this is just
an example so to unprotect it is very
simple what we do is we simply go to the
top here copy it then go to open a new
tab and just paste it and we have a
duplication of it and I can now see
there's a formula there it is no longer
protected so that's the cell I tried to
have a look at and as you can see I can
now type over the top of that so I go
back to here that same cell I can't type
there so it's as simple as that
protection is there to make sure you
don't type over the formulas by accident
but for some reason if you want to
unlock a particular sheet this system
works very quickly the only provides our
limitation on it is that if this sheet
is interconnected to another sheet
you are renaming the sheet so those
formulas will not carry across but if it
is a standalone sheet this works very
quickly as you saw
