good morning today
i'm going to show you how to change the
door lock cylinder right here
on a 2002 ford ranger edge
this has manual door locks
but it can be similar to the electronic
door lock
version so the first thing we do is we
take the phillips screw out of here
which is the armrest okay one phillips
screw there
the window crank goes here
we already took it off but here it is
okay you can unclip this from the back
and then in the middle there is a torx
screw
right in there is a torx screw
okay and you take that torx screw out
and you pull this out
once you do that you should
make sure it's all clear around the door
panel there's one screw here
once you take that out you lift
straight up and pull the panel off see
now we got the panel away i'm gonna go
ahead and set up by taking off
this here now we peel very easily okay
this is moisture barrier for the inside
of the door
so we're gonna go ahead and peel this
it's very easy once we peel it away we
can look up inside the door now we have
to make sure that the
window is rolled all the way up
so we can get access
got to make sure the window is rolled
all the way up so we can get access
to the door lock okay the clip is right
here on the outside so we're going to go
ahead and pull this
out okay
[Music]
okay now it's out all right
now it's out of there so we come around
here
and look at that comes right out
now this little clip
holds onto the rod so we unclip that
using a little pick or a screwdriver
now that we have that out we're gonna go
ahead and put the new one in right here
this way okay
now we're gonna go ahead and slide this
in there
we gotta hold the outside
while pushing that in to make sure
it'll hold it in place so once it's all
the way in
we check it and that's good so now we
come inside the door
right up there look at our lock
okay and we take
the rod that's hanging there and we clip
it into that clip that you saw
on the cylinder once that's clipped in
we're gonna go ahead we're gonna put
this back in place
okay it should be sticky enough to stay
make sure our holes are good for our
door panel
and then we're gonna slide our door
panel back in
just like this now we want to make sure
we get the door lock through there
there's that now that the door panel is
on we're gonna go ahead and
put our screws back remember this one
here
on the armrest this one down here
in the corner of the door and
the window crank
