morning YouTube America my regular
Wednesday morning routine thumbs up
running a little late you know like I
said it's easy boy fingers of people and
make derogatory comments about things
you really don't know you can't
understand and you've not really put in
their position somehow you find yourself
and you place yourself in a place of
extreme mm holding that you discover
that the world's never quite the way you
expected our first day in Iowa that the
weathered really truly dropped below the
freezing mark
I believe the weather said like 19 or 24
degrees outside with windchill putting a
six-foot all or six degrees up much
later than usual made it to the
courthouse in the window the mob without
any issues but I had some difficulties
and deception and skullduggery I'm part
of the business but I yer ain't able to
eat the fine line until the white lines
in front of you and sometimes you have
to pay the price because you don't have
an option I learned some valuable
lessons today I had thought this morning
when I woke up the court quarter to six
where the 7th or 2/7 Oh - but my windows
defrost start the car up before I got
out from one homeless sleeping bags back
down and listener Ford Focus smokes
that's a nice little car made by a
reputable company they have this nice
little feature in it called a safety
lock system or not maybe that's not
exactly what is called but the gist of
what it does is you get out of the car
and you leave the car slick for any
short period of time it automatically
locks the doors behind you to keep kids
and strangers from getting in the car
yes
apparently this applies even when the
ignitions cars keys ignition in at
running so I got out of the car and the
process of pulling a plastic rain guard
off the windshield that I put up every
night to give a little privacy and to
help keep the frost off the front
windshield when doors lock themselves
you know I normally carry the keys in my
pocket or in the hands on my other car
the first time I had the car key is the
ignition so I on myself a little bit of
a conundrum the difficulty goes you know
the laws not very flexible the state set
it up and their wisdom that if you're
homeless in the state of Iowa you must
arrive at the courthouse or the place of
register read certain day every week
between a certain set of hours all
County is Wednesday morning between 8:00
and 9:00 p.m. and if you're not there if
you miss that night that window you
better have one damn pellet let me get
excuse now fortunately for me every
receipt for that proof that I have to
you know pay somebody to open the damn
car up and get my butt out of the damn
door there's someone every day do this
every Wednesday I come down here if you
could basically tell them the same thing
as for I'm homeless sleeping in this car
that belongs to my mother and this is
the resident the address than now they
print out this form which is actually
several pages thick and it basically has
all the information all the data that I
just told them has on my purchase
registry information
every week I get the same piece of paper
so as you can see this thing's getting
fairly thick and this is only not quite
three months three months worth of stuff
right keep every bit of it because some
do-gooding person who thinks it's their
business to sit there I can sit there
and pull this folder out
besides my small long block out throw it
there face state with the cops you don't
have respect for the uniform
am PA and the concept of the police
department what they do Sheriff
Department high of drill so forth
not so much about a lot of people work
it feels even more so for Department of
Corrections I've mentioned that there
are some poorly thought-out phrases
either I'm talking a lot of mental and
verbal abuse and some minor physical
abuse they know they can get away with
you know you ask anybody who's been
incarcerated the state of Iowa spent
time with the Mount Pleasant facility
had encounters with correctional officer
harness will understand that the man
himself was banned from work beginning
at one point because he laid hands on an
invite one time if any the man closed
gaskets has fits over tiny minor details
while major things are going on ten feet
away
if a man is questionably challenging
fundamental department I think has been
at this job waits upon enjoys hits
his extreme power too much the scary
part is this man's also works for the
Sheriff Department of that particular
County as a part-time deputy I
understand I have talked to other
correctional officers - they don't like
you me they don't like how he behaves
he makes their jobs harder because it
said aggressive animals and that's what
he is he's as bad or worse a number of
inmates I've met and that's a shame
shame yeah I put his name out there
that's right harness because I can
legally do that anyway now as I was
saying I got here error behind minor
league a year I was fortunate for the
head my wallet in my cell phone game my
coat pocket
generally they keep them on me and I
take the coat off and I put it under a
blanket to keep warm so first thing I
grabbed of course when I got out the I
googled I said help I've locked myself
out of my car one of the first entries
of pop up was a nice little company that
says their ad immediately says will
unlock guitar for 1995 come come my
daughter
twenty bucks all day long right but this
is why nowhere on the ad no we're on the
fine print of the tiny little google
access my cell phone could give you did
I notice where it says the 1995 is the
service call is charged for the service
call the actual lock my heart cost $90
so I spent a hundred well receive says
about 107 107 dollars to have this guy a
little air Cutler in this thing here pop
the window open just and long enough to
stick to
get down in here to pop the damn button
wow you know there was a time when I was
younger and a MacGyver that opened
myself and I got an I think got a coat
hanger and I figured out something but
I'm older it was cold I had a deadline
to make and fortunately for me I had the
money in the bank who can afford to just
throw hundred dollars away happy about
that but my chance my goal of trying to
get myself a bigger vehicle to be more
comfortable in push back yet again
because that's another $100 I have to
make up for it in the savings being you
know cost a living buying groceries gas
I've killed I filled this bar twice and
it's last week and the weeks not over
yet
it's already half a tank of gas because
it's now a driving I had to do to get
back before if there's my mother's house
and to my job and I'll make twice as
many trips as it was a lake because
you're not going back to Des Moines
30-minute drive to the place where I
reside sweet so I might make two or
three trips to have the job make the
money that makes the money that allows
me to do ironically in that life I
actually just turned down another cop
yesterday that was actually probably a
better job than the one I got to use
myself a lot of because I'm not sure why
I did it
place the place they work for
it's Mickey Mouse I'm sorry Emma Jonas
but I don't understand how you've
managed to stay in business for so many
decades a period issue it just boggles
my mind you know in those 3 months I've
worked for you I've seen six seven
people get hired and quit in that same
period of time who will name names but
your recent guy seems to have all of us
ducks in a row
bit of a arrogant high head everybody's
words I haven't dealt with him so I
can't speak that personally his buddy
who is a helper both put their two-week
notice in now grant you I'm not sure I
understand what their reasoning was I
think there's more going on here with
them than what they want a lot
apparently they upset because they had a
job and they were on their way to the
job and they called the customer and the
customer was present and they were upset
they got up had to go spend an hour and
a half driving back and forth to a place
they weren't gonna work out so they got
paid for an hour and a half maybe two
hours of Drivetime had a short night
myeloma me that's actually not bad I
know bad thing I mean it's bad for the
company may be bad for customer get the
job done we'll come back eventually you
just kind of wonder right you know the
apt order with their friend but the
attitude of the management some crimes
the law it makes it easy make those
decisions anyway this junk this company
which is a division of Goya
I knew the news division start up found
my resume contacted he asked me to come
to work for him
in the interview they know about a
female backs think they greatly wished
you for me to come to work form the
money to start is a dollar less than
what I make with all
claim like they offer full benefits 401k
there's nine paid holidays a year and
nineteen personal days to take off plus
vacation time after you've been there a
while chances for promotion and raises
in a structured corporate environment
where I can not have Greece under my
fingernails and all over my coat and sit
at a desk a bunch of PAS still get some
overtime still still not sure why I
didn't take the job why I turned it down
what possessed me to do that part of it
is a sense of responsibility sometimes
they make it easy to want to quit walk
out that door but they're good people
they would be in a position where I
could have quite a bit of flexibility on
time I need to take my mother to cancer
treatment there's some flexibility there
also allows me to deal with this
radiation yes they have to do everybody
teeth they don't hold that against me
I don't think without tried to fair the
truth is I told myself when I took a job
I'd give him six months I gave my word
that I would give him six months now I
didn't go out to look for this job he's
having company they came to me and so I
still follow up plus this company that
I'm working for is a bad spot
we cannot right now Kevin and I
which painters so derogatory toward
Kevin I grant you he's an oddball the
man works the man is hungry for work he
shows up he's working right now two
cracked ribs that's it's two two cracked
ribs
Andy as his job visas income
occasionally leaves a mess behind page
lease moves up
so that's part of the nature of the
business accidents happen things have
with you can't control everything and
when you have a stretch of things you
seem to did one amber ever every three
or four job something goes wrong
yeah that's that's not good but you got
to take into account the amount of hours
and work we're doing here to keep this
company floating yeah I can't Keith's
help and this isn't just a recent thing
this has been a long time I was with
somebody here a couple weeks ago and
talked install you were broken the guy
starts laughing oh yeah everybody knows
about Emmett everybody knows about all
places
so I sure what that means I don't know
it's not a sense of overt loyalty that I
have I'm just trying to place in my own
mind you know other than the fact that
I'm trying to but there's no insurance
there's no healthcare there's nothing
like just yesterday scared then hello
why she can work wish the ass inside
people will get off their ass and home
forget what she's entitled to she worked
three years for 20 years and now she
that's what disabilities for
unfortunately the system the bureaucracy
being what it is we're slow sometimes
you don't even know it's moving
we haven't heard nothing from them and
well over to six weeks so it almost
started to spare broke job father who
forgot the top and tell you about it
well there's advocates lawyers you can
spend some money get money and we're
trying to do the right things properly
good system was set up and I wish the
system my wife the situation maybe it
could stop he's homeless
anyway welcome to my Wednesday routine
both nurses with mine okay
