okay we're going to look at inserting a
header and then changing the header part
way through the document so that it
looks different to do that we will have
to insert a section break into the
document we will then be able to format
the header and footer if you so wish
into format each one differently so they
look different in different parts of the
document the first thing I'm going to do
is move my mouse and the cursor up to
the top of the document where the header
would be and double click this is an
easy way to access the header after
double-clicking you will see that the
focus comes on to the header and the
cursor is flashing ready for you to
enter some information so I'm just going
to type header one by clicking or double
clicking outside of the header that will
bring the focus back on to the document
you'll notice as I scroll through the
document that the word header one is
repeated at the header of each page of
the document as I go through to the end
Here I am on page two now assuming that
I would like page three to read
something different in the header I need
to tell the document that from this
point on it's a different section so I'm
going to place the cursor and the text
input where it flashes and I'm going to
put it there in the document and I'm
going to go to page layout let in the
ribbon in the page setup section of the
layout I'm going to go to brakes by
clicking on here I'm going to go down to
the section of this menu that is at a
section break now I can do next page
which will insert a new page and the
break on the new page or I could do a
continuous break which means it starts
the new section of the document on this
page I'll do it for the sake of this
activity I will do continuous break now
nothing seems to have changed until I
click on the header' again so I got
under this header and you'll notice here
that it's showing me that this footer is
in section one and this header is in
section two
now if I were to make a change here to
this header it would be reflected all
through the document and the reason for
this if you look over here on this note
it says this header is the same as
previous so it will follow the header
from the previous page so anything
written in one header on the previous
page will be reflected here I don't want
that to happen you'll notice when I had
double clicked on this header that up
here we've got in the design tab that's
appeared this link to previous is
selected if I deselect that by clicking
on it that little note here that sending
to previous is gone if I now change this
header and I'm changing it from how to
delete one and I put two and then double
click to suddenly move away from the
header you'll notice that as I scroll
back up the document that the head is
now different header one appears on page
one and two just as I had originally had
in the header but once I moved to
section two the header is different if
you want to do this for the footer you
do exactly the same thing you have to
manually tell it to not follow the
previous page anymore so that's how you
use a section break to enable you to
change the headers and the footers
