android hidden features you probably
know you can get a quick glimpse at your
quick settings menu by swiping down the
upper right hand corner of the screen
also see some notifications did you know
you can two-finger swipe down for the
top of the screen get that full quick
settings menu access to a lot more
controls on your android much more
useful like the brightness slider right
there next up we're going to show you
how to add a custom message to the lock
screen of your android so i'm going to
tap on that settings gear at the top of
the screen
scroll down and tap on lock screen and
then tap on contact information so maybe
you lose your android and you want
someone to see how to contact you so
always type in if lost email
zek this is where we speed up the video
tap done and then tap done now if i lock
this android
tap on the side button to wake it up all
the way yep if lost email test up phone
dot com next up a little surprise built
into every single android let's go back
to the main page of settings let's tap
that back button lower right hand corner
of the screen then scroll all the way
down to about phone
tap on software information and then
just repeatedly tap that android version
there you go now this one is just a
little clock we'll bring in the pixel
here this is running the android 11.
it's got a little little knob you can
turn
these aren't super fun there was a like
a flappy bird knock off on a different
version of android it's neat it's nice
neat little easter wonder why they hid
yeah
something that's not so hidden the
subscribe button below this video helps
out a lot by clicking that button
next up let's talk about google lens
we've got a pixel here google lens is
built in to google pixel phones if you
have a samsung phone like we do here
well you got to go to the app store and
download it so i'm going to go back to
the home screen bye bye clock yep open
up the play store
and then you can just go in here and
search for google lens i searched for it
earlier
tap that install button google lens is
awesome
it is super smart you can do things like
live translate text maybe you're in a
foreign country and you've got a menu in
front of you and you have no idea what
it says maybe you went to a conference
and you got a whole bunch of business
cards you don't want to enter all of
these business cards into your contacts
manually that is a pain how about we use
google lens to create a contact so i got
this paigely business card right here
if i open up google lens
there it is
tap search with camera
and then just line it up tap shutter
button to search
there we go related content marcus
nelson we're going to tap that button
right there
create contact
information fills in for you
that is pretty cool so where do you want
to save that contact too i'll just check
phone for now
and then there we go i'm just going to
tap save it's already done i don't need
to type anything else in
contact saved how about that
card
i trying to rip the card it's too it's a
very high quality card
card ripped up yeah google lens can do a
whole bunch of really cool stuff it's
not just contacts and live translations
check it out mess around with it i think
you're really going to enjoy it next
couple of hidden features are keyboard
features so first up the one-handed
keyboard phones are getting bigger and
bigger and bigger and hands are getting
smaller and smaller and smaller and
leon's getting larger
one-handed keyboard is there for you
easiest way to turn it on is to start in
the messages app so go back to the home
screen
tap on messages
and let's just tap on this and go into
the keyboard you'll get that little
settings gear that'll take you right to
your samsung keyboard settings and then
we're going to scroll down to mode
tap on mode
and then tap one handed keyboard so now
if i go back to messages
tap in here
boom there it is
[Applause]
one-handed keyboard maybe you're
left-handed tap that little arrow slide
it over
how about that now with gboard it's a
lot easier if we go into messages on
this google pixel
just open up any message pull up that
keyboard press and hold in the comma
you'll see a little hand icon there just
go and select that
there you go one-handed keyboard it's a
lot easier to do it that way if this
one-handed keyboard isn't good enough
for you you want to resize a little bit
tap on the resize icon lower right hand
corner of the screen and then you can
change the size of it and drag it over
here and do whatever you want with it
and just tap that check when you're done
wow truly customizable truly
customizable try to find that on an
iphone you sure won't find it there nope
wasn't there another keyboard tip coming
up dave there sure is press it on the
keyboard and you can move the cursor
wherever you'd like in my
string of gibberish here
yeah i don't know where you'd start with
that but i think the word garbage
garbage is appropriate there we go
garbage
if you don't think this video is garbage
give this video a thumbs up yeah leave a
comment down below tell us how awesome
these features are
next up we gotta go into developer
options but first you need to become a
developer on your android it's pretty
straightforward to do
so i'm going to go back to the home
screen swipe down upper right hand
corner of the screen and tap on that
settings gear
so tap on about phone
then tap on software information
and then just keep tapping on this build
number i believe it's seven times enter
developer mode don't quote me on that
but just keep tapping it and enter your
passcode congratulations developer mode
has been turned on you are now a
developer so we tap back nerd
to the main page of settings scroll down
below about phone we now have developer
options this in itself is kind of a
hidden feature kind of lame though we
don't tell you anything within this to
actually change so
we're going to talk about animation
scales
and that's not lame it's not lame it's
it sounds lame but it's pretty cool and
you just got to swipe down a fair bit to
get there
so underneath this drawing heading
we have transition animation scale
animator duration scale and window
animation scale so
if you set these two off it's actually a
pretty decent battery tip because it
just removes all those animations on
your android
tap off and just close whoa no
animations
it's a bit jarring at first
but
it's neat enough and it's a little bit
of that that's not the cool part that's
not the cool part that was the worst
part now it gets cool turning it off
decent battery tip but you know looks
kind of bland if you tap in here and
choose 0.5 the lower the number the
faster the animations happen obviously
off they don't happen so to make your
android feel a little bit zippier speed
up those animations select 0.5 for the
animation scale for all of them
and you just you fly you fly everywhere
it's amazing superman ain't got nothing
on this now
one other thing you can do that i was
thinking is you want to pull a prank on
your friends set their animation scale
to 10.
you can already you can already see
what's going on here
it's just it's really slow
and they'll get freaked out and they'll
say why is my android you know behaving
like this and it's
it's a little trippy next we're going to
calculator so let's go back to the home
screen we got those 10x animations so
it's a little slow
and i'm going to open up my apps here
going to tap on calculator so
you've got this boring old calculator
what happens when you rotate it
scientific calculator all you need to do
is rotate your android get a whole bunch
of new functions this just gives me
anxiety it's like i'm back in
whatever back and forth so it's [ __ ]
precalc those are some android hidden
features leave a comment down below any
