what's going on ladies and gentlemen and
welcome back to fudge Muppet my name is
Michael and today I want to talk about
the endurance start in fallout 4
how to properly take advantage of it and
why it's so useful later on in the game
in my opinion endurance is the second
best start in fallout 4 and it affects
how much health you have and also the
rate at which your action points deplete
so this is a stat which is basically
good for any fallout 4 character as
everyone needs to stay alive longer and
also get around faster by having more
sprint time
what endurance does is common knowledge
but what a lot of people tend to miss is
exactly how the endurance start affects
health and how valuable it is how much
health does it give you in total does it
pay off if you start with higher
endurance is it worth investing in
endurance later in the game or should
you invest in something else well as
many of you know intelligence is very
arguably the best start to invest in
early but anyways the short answer to
the endurance question is simply this
endurance is retroactive in fallout 4
now what this means is that if you
choose to increase endurance later on in
the game you will still end up with the
same amount of health as someone who
chose the same endurance level earlier
on basically there is almost no
advantage to having 10 endurance earlier
besides of course being a sturdy
character which is definitely nice but
essentially you will not be penalized
statistically for choosing to end up
with 10 endurance at level 60 instead of
choosing it at level 1 both level 60
characters would have the same hit
points regardless of which character had
the higher initial stat that said there
is one small factor that could make
early insurance investment early on
worth it for the tank east of tanky
builds but I'll explain that later
anyways let's have a look at the health
differences that endurance will bring
your character over the long term so a
level 1 character with 10 endurance is
going to have 130 health and a level 1
character with only one insurance will
have 85 health points that's the only 45
health points of difference which as
many of you know is not very much even
the percentage differences aren't that
drastic buy insurance becomes a lot more
worth at the higher level you are so
let's examine a level 50 character the
level 50 character who has ten insurance
has a colossal four hundred and ninety
seven points of health with no perks
however the level 50 character with one
endurance only has 232 HP that's a
health difference of 265 points even if
you doubled the health of the one
endurance character you still wouldn't
be able to catch up now obviously I
don't need to explain that health is
what keeps you alive and therefore is
very important so you can really see why
insurance is just so good
HP is vital in fallout 4 especially if
you're playing on survival difficulty so
what I would suggest is investing in
insurance if you're considering some
in-game stat increases obviously if
you're a stealth character and you
really want luck instead then get that
but if you've already completed the core
of a build including stats and you're
not really sure where to go next
then endurance is always a good choice
in fact investing in the endurance that
itself is often better than using the
perk points on the perks themselves
things like life-giver are helpful
early on however later in the game
you'll realize that you would have been
better off using the perk points to
simply increase your endurance by 3 so
how is all this endurance stuff worked
out well it's calculated using a pretty
basic formula so to work out the
endurance for level one character you
multiply your endurance by 5 and add 80
so if your endurance is 10 you times it
by 5 making it 50 and then add 80 which
makes it 130 now to work out your total
hit points at whatever level you are
you're going to want to find out how
many hit points you gain per level to
find this out you simply have your
endurance and add to point 5 so if you
have 10 endurance you have it making it
5 and add to point 5 which makes it 7
point 5 then to find your total hit
points at any level multiply your
character's current level -1 by the hit
points you receive per level and then
add this to your starting HP so for a
level 50 character with 10 endurance
you'd multiply 49 by 7.5 and the reason
it's 49 is because you've only
progressed 49 levels by level 50 and
then you add that answer to your level 1
starting HP so 49 times 7.5 is 367 point
5 and when you add your starting level 1
HP of 130 this becomes 400 and
97.5 if you've got a level 50 character
with ten endurance you'll notice it says
497 HP as fallout 4 rounds health down
not up if you're getting 7.5 points of
health per level it's seven one level
and eight the next and that's basically
how endurance is calculated in the game
the big takeaway of all this is that
endurance is a great stat to invest in
especially later in the game when you're
considering increasing certain stats
choosing a perk point to spend on
endurance is a lot more effective in the
long term then picking an endurance
perks such as life-giver
so anyways now I'm going to let you know
the one and only reason why endurance
investment early could be a better
decision for you in the long run if
you're playing a very tanky build you
can get 11 endurance because you started
with 10 and got the bobblehead or if you
started with 9 use the special book on
endurance and then got the bobblehead
and you'll receive even more health per
level as a result more than seven point
five which you'd get at 10 endurance in
this way you could consider that there
is an advantage to starting with high
insurance 9 or above as it is basically
the only way you can get 11 endurance
and therefore have a bit more health and
others who invest later ending up with
10 but that's basically it guys choosing
to have 5 endurance at level 1 and level
40 is just as useful as choosing 1
endurance at level 1 and then ending up
with 5 endurance 39 levels later I hope
