if you're a user of Microsoft Excel and
you're fighting for a solution for this
error message that says you cannot edit
the Microsoft Excel file because it is
locked and in use by other user there is
a way to kick the user out of the file
remotely so to know more about the
process keep watching on this video
now to boot the user from the file and
allow other users to access it first you
have to note the path to the file and
the file name
then hold the Windows key and press the
letter r on your keyboard to bring up
the Run dialog box
now on the window type MMC
then press enter to bring up the
Microsoft manage console
so on the new window select the file tab
and choose the option add or remove snap
in
now in the list of available snap-ins
select shared folders
and select add to add it to the selected
snap and list
now a box will appear that asks you to
select the computer you want to snap in
to manage so if you're logged in on the
server with a locked Excel file resides
choose the option local computer but if
you log in at a different computer
select another computer then type or
browse to the server with an Excel file
resides then in the view section select
open files
then choose finish and select ok
now after doing that you have to expand
the list of open files
choose the log file right click on it
and choose the option close open file
and that's it you have now unlocked it
and you have also disconnected the user
who had the file open and the new user
who want to edit the file will now be
able to exit Excel and then reopen the
file to edit it
so that's what you can do when you have
this error message in the Microsoft
Excel
