okay in this video I'm just going to
show how to save a file and set it up so
that a password is required to be typed
when you enter in the excel file and
that's actually very simple to do with
Excel go to menu save or save as in this
case this file has not been saved yet so
I could do save but in case you already
have a file that has been saved already
you can do save as and what you're gonna
do is select the file type that you
would like to work with the file name
and of course the file type is going out
to be an excel type file it can't be
something like text or tab delimited
it's gonna have to be an excel file that
supports the pastor protection option so
I'm gonna do the Excel workbook xlsx
which is 2007 and later and under tools
I'm gonna go to general options and
you're gonna put password to open and
I'll just put password one two three and
whether or not you wanted to be
read-only or not in this case I will
check mark that read-only recommended
and I'm gonna hit OK it's gonna ask me
to reenter the password to proceed
password one two three and I'm ahead
okay and I'll name this has a password
protected file and now I'm gonna close
it out show you how this works
many open and I'm gonna open up that
same file it password protected file
open and what a pastor profile is
protected to enter in a password so
first I'll do an incorrect password the
password you supplied is not correct
verify that caps lock key is off and
make sure to use the correct
capitalization so I hit OK I'm gonna try
to reopen the file again this time I'll
type in the correct password
a pastor practice file should should be
open as read-only unless you need to
save changes to it open its read-only
and we're gonna do it as yes all right
we're all complete with this video thank
you for watching
