hello friends welcome back to author
resource YouTube channel in this short
video I will show you how to release
stock electronic parking brake on the
Subaru vehicles and I will demonstrate
it on this 2010 Subaru Outback and this
manual release procedure will start with
parking the vehicle hopefully on the
leveled area and removing the key from
the ignition this car is in the air on
the list because I'm working on it but
you will have it parked on the good
level area and hopefully you will have
also some tire stops to prevent the car
from moving after that you will need to
get in the trunk lift it panel and you
will locate that release so this is how
it looks like now I need to get even
deeper in the trunk
when I'm getting this screwdriver I will
show you right now you remove the
screwdriver put it on the side and one
of these ends which has this protrusion
right here fits in this screwdriver
handle so now you see I'm sorry
things happen now you see why I need
this handle right here now you see why I
had that car on the lift because it will
be easier to film this procedure for you
so the location of that release is right
we are on the passenger side close to
the rear wheel and it's underneath the
car right here do you see that that's
where we will be working right now and
hopefully you have access from this side
right in the real life it might be
difficult but I show you that cat right
so I will enter this tool in it
hopefully you can see it
and I will turn this counter clockwise
that means to the left and that will
remove that girl let's see if it will
really happen oh yeah it wasn't really
easy but I should be able to unscrew
this protective cap let's see hopefully
it's nicely stuck on the antenna you can
see it right here now I'm going to
remove this cap from the end of this
tool right and I'm ready for the next
step
and I will be using again the same tool
right this one to insert it in the same
area which is right here and now you can
see there is exposed and Turing sealed
area right and I need to insert that
tool this one in that break like a
protective layer inside there so it goes
inside and I will turn the whole thing
approximately 200 times no I didn't miss
spelt this is what Subaru wants to do
now they say don't turn it more than 300
times and don't ever use any tools like
a power tools that you will put it in
the drill and thing oh I just speed up
the process that will be all around and
can damage that electronic parking brake
system after that they are saying the
Subaru is saying that you should
carefully inspect if the brake work was
released that means getting in the
vehicle putting it on the ignition put
it in neutral and maybe someone try to
push the car right to see if the brake
it's not locked if it's released and you
can drive after this emergency procedure
so you if you find it that was released
and you succeeded again in the park the
key from the ignition if you had those
tire blocking
blocks put them back right it's all
about the safety and I will reinstall
this cap so here I come with that
protective cap right which stops the
dust and dirt coming in and I will just
turn it back as it was
hopefully the fret catches nicely I
believe so
that'll be what it was five turns maybe
and when it will give me resistance I
know the cap it's all the way any of
perfect right now and I can pull this
tool away and since I love you so much I
will even show you how that entire unit
that electronic parking brake unit looks
like so this is the cover which was here
on that passenger side and you can see
once again this was the emergency
removing cat right we were removing so
obviously right here will be that
mechanical over right here you can see
the cable which is responsible for Park
game break on the passenger side right
it is the cable coming to the driver
side a rear parking brake and here is
the electronic connector so now you
became experts on this Subaru electronic
parking brake I want to make sure we are
clear this is not some kind of fantasy
of mine right I'm just filming for you
step by step which is written in the
Subaru manual in this case of this 2010
Legacy outback it's the page 9 / 17 the
texts and the pictures are not so easy
to understand so I decided to film it
for you so you can see what you might be
dealing with if it ever happens to you I
hope you will never have to do this
procedure it's not very easy as you saw
right
there was the car was on the lift
imagine doing it somewhere in the
parking lot or on the side of the road
that might be a pain so I hope you find
this video helpful you can now imagine
how it's all done and please make sure
you are subscribe I will have always
many videos about Subarus and other cars
coming your way soon on this channel
thanks for watching have a great day my
friend
