when I first got smash ultimate my only
goal was to unlock lead smash I've spent
hours in the training room trying to
make my Fox the best that I can
I would happen to quit play in hopes to
raise my GSP just a little higher every
single time using the training room as
my only source of practice my progress
eventually started to slow to a crawl
sure I got good I knew jab block combos
shine spiking up air strings every kill
confirm you can think of and advanced
trigonometry adapted for modern day
digital application but I was still
stuck just below that GSP threshold for
leads mesh I'm almost certain my
windowless ratio was about one to one if
not worse months pass of just this
inconsistent choppy slow random progress
that's kinda redundant and I finally
decided I needed to change something I
want to share with you possibly the
biggest piece of advice that launched me
from being a mid-level scrub straight
into elite in less than two weeks if you
were to get anything out of this video
then let it be this don't play to win
play to improve it sounds simple but
with smash it's much harder to see this
big picture the reason GSP GSP
completely clouds this way of thinking
it's literally labeling you as a certain
skill level making it much harder to
break through a lot of mental barriers
the GSP system is fine for matching
players together but if it's all you
have to track your progress it's all
you'll be playing for don't play for a
better GSP the moment you start playing
with this new mindset well you still
won't see improvement but it's a step in
the right direction this brings me to
the second half of my statement play to
improve I'll tell you right now playing
for hours on quick play won't yield the
results you're looking for if you're
fighting every match on autopilot then
finding your faults mistakes and habits
will be so much harder save your replays
re-watch them and analyze exactly what
you're doing wrong when I started
watching my replays I immediately
noticed very bad habits that I had thus
showing me how to improve that's how you
use replays to your advantage
now this alone might be enough for you
to start working your way up to elite
but there's another way to improve watch
competitive tournament play of your
character watch the top eight set with
your main and try to implement the
higher level tricks that they're doing
into how you play take it slow go focus
on one high level
at a time trying to copy exactly how
they play is just too much to focus on
in one match I'm in banjo
nobody plays banjo about these sets yeah
I guess this way of getting better is
kind of limited for some characters so
how about this what if I told you there
was another way to practice online
against real people without the worry of
getting paired with an item's one stock
to a minute Ness it's this amazing
website called anthers ladder this
website allows you to chat with and play
against other competitive smash players
like you and me
you can play friendlies with people on
real tournament legal stages with a good
connection and a universally agreed-upon
rule set just be sure that you know how
stage picking works in tournament
because I didn't I really wish more
people know about this website okay so
here it is the truth about elite smash
when you unlock it you can still be way
better nobody is king in this realm
actually I unlocked leet smash last week
I took a break for your view days shoot
alright smash is stupid just quit
