so I got a call from a customer whose
son had locked himself out of his
bedroom door he locked the door with the
TV full blast the mom was going crazy
and so she called a locksmith for $100
to come and open up the interior
pass-through door so I was kind of
surprised that not everybody knew how to
open up a door but it's very easy with
some simple tools now this will work on
both bathroom doors or bedroom doors and
when they're locked look for a little
tool that looks like this usually comes
with the door or you can use a little I
glass screwdriver like this one they're
both very standard screwdrivers with a
small head smell enough to fit inside
the hole so there are two types of
mechanisms here one hole will have a
little slotted mechanism that you turn
and it unlocks the door the other one
will have just a hole somewhere around
here in the escutcheon plate and you can
just push it like with a nail and it
will pop it open this particular
doorknob uses the slotted type so I have
the original tool I also have a little
eyeglass screwdriver that I can use to
try to open it up so sometimes this
takes a little planning with to find the
slot so it's really more feel than it is
looking inside because you couldn't see
it anyway
is okay easy enough took just a couple
of seconds to do by the way if you're if
you don't have an eyeglass screwdriver
like this look for this tool a lot of
installers when they install the
doorknob will leave it on top of the
door the molding on the very top so if
you look above the door it may be
sitting just on top of the trim
