hi i'm matt from espares in this video
i'll show you how to replace a door lock
on this bosch washing machine if your
washing machine lights up correctly but
doesn't start a program or the door is
stuck at the end of a cycle or it shows
an error code like this the problem is
likely to be with the door lock however
if the handle on your washing machine
door is loose or the door won't latch
properly the problem lies with the
handle and you'll need to replace that
and you can learn how to do that in
another of our espares videos now safety
first always disconnect an appliance
before carrying out any work to access
the door lock I need to open the door
and release the door seal from the outer
panel now there is a sprung retaining
band that goes all the way around the
door seal holding it in place we need to
do is locate the spring and I can see
it's near the door hinge here work a
flat headed screwdriver underneath it
and gently pull it away from the door
seal making sure you don't damage the
cabinet or the seal itself you can then
push the door seal inside the door
[Music]
with the doorsill released I can now
reach in and grab ahold of the door lock
and using a screwdriver I can just push
in these pips one at a time and then
take the lock out and here we can see
the electrical connection and also the
emergency door release so just turn the
lock till the door release comes off and
then I can disconnect the electrical
connections grab your new lock I'll
reconnect the emergency door release
first as you can see I'm just going to
line that up with the shape on the
emergency door release and twist so it's
firmly in position I can then reconnect
the electrical connection if you put the
profile that's nearest the opening in
first as it has a groove which holds it
in place on the front panel like so and
push it towards the front panel and make
sure the pips go back into their holes
I can then refit the door seal and the
retaining band
if you are having trouble getting the
doorsill on correctly you can use a bit
of washing-up liquid and work it round
the area of the door seal that comes in
contact with the front panel just so it
lubricates it making it easier to slip
on now with the spring retaining band
it's a good idea not to put the spring
at the bottom of the door sill in case
you do have a leak which will rust the
spring so it's a good idea to put it on
one of the sides and then you can work
the rest of the band around the door
seal so there we have it one door lock
replaced on this Bosch washing machine
