hey guys today we're gonna go ahead and
unlock the bootloader on the 1 plus 6
sorry I'm not feeling good so I'm
actually working from the bed okay the
first thing you want to do is go into
settings going to about phone and next
go into the build number down here and
hit about 5 times all right you may have
to enter your pattern okay once that's
done hit the back button and you'll see
developer options go ahead and tap on
that and make sure only I'm unlocking is
checked on again you may have to enter
your pattern an able oh em unlock yes
right once this then you go ahead and
power off your phone now unlocking your
bootloader will erase everything on your
damn phone so at this point you don't
want to erase everything on your phone
do make a backup one plus has a new app
called one switch that you can use to
back up all your data is not gonna back
up your app data it's gonna back up just
your apps alright go ahead and use
whatever method you need to use to back
up your data and everything and continue
this tutorial but in this next step
we're gonna go ahead and hold down the
volume down alright hold down volume
down and the power I hold it down until
you get into the bootloader mode
all right when you see this screen let
go of all the buttons if you have if you
have your passcode set here obviously
you'll have to use it all right once
entered it will decrypt and you will be
here you can go ahead and choose the
language obviously I'm going to use
English since that's all I can read
I don't read Chinese okay guys next use
of volume keys go to advanced hit the
power button then go ahead and hit the
power button to reboot to fastboot
alright and go ahead and cook the power
button again and it will reboot into
fastboot mode alright next you're gonna
go ahead and connect it to your computer
so I'm doing this all one-handed because
I'm holding my camera alright connect it
and go to your computer now you will
notice that's device state says lock
down here once we unlock the bootloader
it's going to unlock the bootloader and
it will say unlocked
alright so ok guys next go to my site
ion android.com
if you go under rooting you'll see
fastboot dots if ADB and Android USB
drivers go ahead and click on there and
go ahead and download fastboot dot zip
and Android USB drivers now all the
download links are at the bottom of the
page don't click on the ads um just wait
five seconds down here and click here to
download and that will download all the
files you need once downloaded go ahead
and unzip the fastboot zip double-click
it and click on extract all extract this
has all the files you need for Windows
Mac or Linux I will show you the all the
substitute substitute commands you get a
type for Mac or Linux but I'm using
Windows 10 here by the way and also if
you haven't installed the adb drivers
though go ahead and double click on this
and run the program and it will install
it for you or for Mac or Linux you do
not need drivers you can go to control
panel on your Windows computer and
double check that the driver has been
installed go to hardware and sound
device manager and you should see
Android bootloader interface or android
adb interface
now Windows 10 in Windows 8 I think does
come with the wind android adb driver
that one is not compatible so make sure
you install this one all right
I once that's done you're gonna go ahead
and open up a command prompt go ahead
and type CMD in your search bar for
Windows for Mac or Linux go ahead and
open up a terminal if you don't know how
please go google it go in type CD
downloads or your download folder name
usually it's download or downloads all
right and go ahead and type fastboot CD
fastboot alright and we're gonna go
ahead and unlock the bootloader this
will erase everything on your phone go
ahead and type fastboot space om Space
unlock that's it
and boom Shakalaka alright for Mac or
Linux it's slightly different go ahead
and type the substitute commands you
have to type I'll put it on my site at
high on Android go ahead and use a
volume key to select unlock the
bootloader and hit the power button and
this will unlock your bootloader and
this will erase everything on your phone
all right you'll get this warning
message every time you boot but don't
worry about it it just means your
bootloader has been unlocked alright and
as you can see the phone is wiping off
everything on your phone now if for some
reason you want to relock the bootloader
you can go ahead and tie fast boot space
om space lock all right now with oneplus
devices sometimes I can get you in boot
loop so I wouldn't suggest it unless you
absolutely try it I'll absolutely need
to do it and I'll also have a tutorial
on how to unroot to your device in case
that happens to you which happened last
time with the 1 + 5 t so watch out for
those tutorials but just give it a
second you should be fully back wiped
alright but your boot loaders are
unlocked which means you can easily
install twrp recovery you're gonna be
able to install custom roms you're not
gonna have to wipe your device ever
again now if you're rooting your device
go ahead and follow my root tutorial
right after because if you set up
everything and you try to root it later
then you may have to wipe data because
your phone gets ink
all right so so the reason why I'm
making two tutorials instead of just one
root tutorial there might be people who
might want to just unlock their
bootloader and go straight into
installing it wrong all right or the
other choices routing your phone right
and if you want to rip your phone
follow my how to route the 1 + 6 guide
which is my next video
I also have links in the description but
your phone should boot up if you see the
welcome screen congratulations you have
fully rooted sorry fully unlock your
bootloader
