so Steve we hear all the time from
customers I don't like running my fans
continuously because it costs too much
money
there's a lot of common myths with that
so why don't we go over a few of those
myths so myth number one is if I run my
fan continuously is cost more money than
if it cycles on and off is that true
that is not true like starting your car
starting the car uses more gas than when
the motor is actually running is no
different with an electrical motor that
initial torque to get the motor started
and running takes more energy than to
keep that motor running once it's
started
myth number 2 people say my motors going
to wear out faster if I run it
continuously any truth to that that's
just not true either chapter the
additional torque to start that motor as
it also takes more energy it also
creates more wear and tear on that motor
so finally myth number 3 people think
it's more comfortable in their house if
the fan is on and off and on and off any
truth to that well Chuck I have some
personal experience with us the first
couple homes that I purchased and lived
in were ranch-style homes and even
though I was in the HVAC industry I ran
my fan in the in the auto position but a
couple years ago I purchased a two-story
home and the first summer we were in
there the the second story was was 8
degrees warmer than the lower story and
so finally I said you know what I've
been preaching this run your fan
continuously thing my whole career I
might as well practice what I preach and
so with a combination of some damper
adjustments and running my fan
continuously I was able to close that
gap between the upstairs the downstairs
to about 3 degrees the filter is working
now 24/7 so we've got left dust in the
home which was just an added benefit of
running the fan continuously so a more
comfortable home a more reliable system
and a cleaner home
all for running your fans continuously
that's awesome absolutely if you like
