hello there welcome to the video
Metroplex CENTCOM I am so mad Bunsen and
in this short video I'm going to show
you how to quickly hide and unhide rows
and columns in Excel so let's get
started here I have this worksheet where
I have these columns that are colored
and let me first quickly show you how to
hide columns so to hide a column you can
use a keyboard shortcut ctrl 0 so if I
hold the ctrl key and press 0 it would
instantly hide that column you can also
select this entire column here by
pressing the alphabet here the column
alphabet and right click and go to hide
so if I click on this option it'll again
hide this column and the third way of
doing it is that there is an option in
the ribbon so you select any cell here
you go to the Home tab and here in the
cells group you have the format option
and if you click on it in the visibility
settings you have hide and unhide and
here if I click on hide columns then
this would instantly hide these now see
what happens I am going to zoom this and
when I am hiding these columns and I
have hidden column C so between B and D
you see there are these grey lines so
between a and B there's this one single
gray separated but between B and D you
see there are these two Crale lines
which indicates that there is a headed
column now if you want to quickly unhide
it using your mouse you simply hover the
mouse over here and you would see that
the cursor changes into this double
pointed arrow and you simply hold the
left mouse key and drag it and this
would unhide the columns so this is one
way in case you're not able to find it
or in case you're not able to get the
cursor or spotted there are other ways
also so the other way would be you
select B and D column together the right
click and go to this option unhide and
when you do that any column between
these two would be shown will become
visible and then the third way in this
case would be you again select these two
and instead of right-click and going to
heíd you again go to home format hide
and unhide and here you go to unhide
columns now the same is also true for
rows so let's say if this is the row and
let me color this in this color and if I
hide this row again to hide it you
simply right-click or you hide you can
use the keyboard shortcut ctrl 0 and you
can go to the format option the same way
you can unhide this as well also let's
say you have hidden so let me remove
this row formatting and let's say you
have hid in the first column here so
this column here first column and I am
hiding this column now in this case
there is no autumn to the left so you
cannot select two column and unhide it
but you still get this option where you
see this double pointed arrow cursor and
you can drag and unhide it this is one
way of doing it
another way of doing it is first going
to any cell in this column and then
unhiding it so in this case you can use
the name box here and what happens when
you select any cell in the main box
let's say I select d1 it goes and
selects d1 similarly if I come here and
I select a1
although column is hidden it would still
go and select the cell in this column
and now I can simply go to format here
and I can unhide the column so it could
instantly unhide this this way so these
are very simple techniques that you can
use to quickly hide and unhide columns
and rows in Excel you can also use a VBA
code so if you are watching this video
on my website there is a VBA code in the
article and if you are watching this in
the on my youtube channel then I would
leave the VBA code in the description
which you can put in as soon as you
clear as soon as you run the VBA code it
would quickly unhide all the rows and
columns in the worksheet now in case you
get a workbook from some other place and
you quickly want to see how many rows
and columns are hidden let's say it's a
huge worksheet and you don't want to
manually check
everything then you can do that by going
to let's say first first hide a couple
of these columns so that you would know
and let's also hide a couple of rows and
now to identify how many number of rows
and columns are hidden or if there are
any rows and columns that are hidden or
not you go to the file tab and here you
go to check for issues inspect document
as soon as you click on inspect document
okay it is going to first ask me to save
this because it doesn't work unless you
have saved this so let me quickly save
this here and now as soon as I click on
inspect document it will open the
document inspector and if you come down
here you would see that it will show you
the number of hidden rows and columns it
would inspect the workbook and show you
how many hated rows and columns are
there so if I click on inspect here in
this case it is going to inspect
everything and it is going to tell me if
there are header rows and columns or not
so in this case you can see it says
number of hidden rows found is 6 and
number of headed columns found is the 6
so this is a very quick way where you
can identify if there are headed rows
and columns and then you can go and
identifying these and you can unhide
these or keep these hidden based on
whatever you want to do so this is how
you can quickly hide and unhide rows and
columns in Excel I hope you found this
