hey I'm Karl with apt and today we're
going to show you how to change the coin
denomination on this Whirlpool
commercial laundry machine so it's
something that a lot of you have had
questions on so we decided to make a
video just to make it a little more
simple of a process for you so the first
thing you're going to want to do is make
sure that the power is unplugged you
know we're going to be working with a
little bit of electricity here so you
just want to take that out of the
equation so after that after you have it
unplugged you're going to want to put
the key in the top here turn it and
that's going to allow this top panel to
pop off there set that off to the side
so now that we've got the top off here
first thing you're going to want to do
is take this green wire and just kind of
pull back on it that's the grounding
cable so that'll slide right out very
easy to do so now that's unplugged and
then you've got this other plug here
with red and white plugs or with red and
white cables in it you're going to undo
that just pull that apart and now the
coin slide is unhooked from all the
electrics so from there you're going to
take a 5/16 inch socket and there's a
little there's a little bolt back here
that you're going to slide that onto the
end of you have to make sure you have a
short enough short enough tool here to
get to get inside but then you're going
to twist that it does stick a little bit
so you're going to have to give it a
little bit of a little bit of a twist
and then you undo that that's going to
come out just like that set that off to
the side there and from that point we're
going to be able to pull this forward
and there we have our coin slide okay so
now we're going to take apart the coin
assembly here so first things first
you're going to want to make sure you
have a Phillips head screwdriver and
then after that we're going to take
these springs here take them off of
their little clips just like that so now
those are off and you're going to see
these two screws here there's one here
on that side and one there on the other
side and those are going to have to come
up first so you're going to pull the
spring back
remove that screw we go to the other
side and get that one out of there and
make sure you put these in a place where
you're not going to lose them so we just
have them sitting here on the back of
the washing machine top for right now so
now we have those two screws out that's
going to allow us to remove this whole
assembly here so we push back you can
lift that up and pull out that whole
assembly so we set that off to the side
here and now we've got the rest of the
coin slide here to deal with so from
here you're going to want to flip it
over and you're going to need to remove
these two screws right here also watch
out for this ratchet clip that will fall
out so just keep an eye on that because
you'll need to put that in later so you
got your two screws right here take
those out and remove this piece right
here and then I just put the screws back
inside of those spots there to keep them
all in one spot so now from here that's
going to allow us to pull the full coin
slide out so you pull that out here and
now this is what we're going to be
dealing with to change the denomination
so from here this is where all of your
your extra pieces are going to be so you
can take this screw off on the top
that's going to come out and then you're
going to choose if you want to put in a
blank to make the cost lower or if you
want to put in another coin drop to make
the amount higher so say we put in an
extra denomination here we pull one of
these out and set those off to the side
and then from here you're going to want
to remove these additional screws and
these are going to take a little bit of
work here so you really want to make
sure you're pushing in so you don't
strip the screw head we got the first
one
and once those are out you can remove
this little plate here and then replace
any of these that you need to replace so
because we're going to make the dollar
amount a little bit higher we're going
to pop out one of the blanks here take
that out and then we're going to put in
one of the empty so we put that in and
there you go so now that increased it by
another quarter so now from there we're
just going to repeat the same process
but in Reverse so you take your little
plate here put that back down and you're
going to put those screws right back in
sure those are in nice and tight so now
those are all back in place so we can
flip that over and now we're going to
put all of our extras back into where
they came from so you should have enough
space for all of them here there you go
and we're going to put this little
bracket back on we're going to use the
screw that we removed before
and that's back in place now now that
we're here we're going to take the coin
slide put it through there make sure
it's on the track and then on the back
here you're going to see these little
teeth you want to make sure they're in
the open position and this can take a
little bit of trying here but you have
to work that in and then once it's in
you push it all the way now here's where
it gets a little bit tricky to do this
the easiest way you kind of push up on
the back here and then it'll slide back
through so you want to make sure not to
get your finger pinched in there but
you're going to push and it should go
all the way back through you're probably
going to meet a little bit of resistance
here and again just lift up there and
you should be able to get it all the way
through so that it's all the way pushed
in so from here again we're just going
to do everything in Reverse we're going
to flip this over and we're going to
take this bracket that we removed before
and it's got these three holes here on
the bottom so you're going to line these
two up with these two screw holes right
here hold that in place and just kind of
hand tighten the screws in there to
start just to hold everything in place
and then you can take your screwdriver
and finish it the rest of the way okay
so now that's back in place and we're
going to flip the whole assembly over
make sure you take your ratchet clip and
return it to where it belongs switches
again right here along the side there's
a little notch and that's just going to
slide in and it should sit in there
flush like that OOP should sit in there
flush like that so you don't see it when
it's installed we're going to take our
last two pieces here and these can fall
apart they they're not connected by
anything so from this point if they
separate like this these arms are going
to go on top of these protrusions here
from the side of this particular piece
but they're going to go underneath the
springs so if you see here there's sort
of a notch and there's a notch in these
arms you can take those set it on top
and then just move the springs out of
the way and they should line up like
and with those screw holes right there
so from here you're going to want to
take and sort of put it in at an angle
so you're going to have this piece
that's going to hook underneath here so
you hook that in and then you should be
able to work it around so that it slides
right back into place so now from here
all we have left to do is put the
remaining two screws in so you take our
first one and just make sure everything
is lined up put that through and that
one's tightened and we've got that
screwed down and then lastly we're going
to pull the coin box back in and you
have these little hooks here that you're
going to put the springs back on to hook
that on there take the other one and
hook that on there so now we are all set
we've added another quarter spot to the
coin slide here and everything works
well so now we're going to be putting
the coin slide back into the washing
machine itself so we're going to start
by threading the power cable through the
top there and then this is going to
slide back in there's a couple of bolts
here on the back of the top portion that
are going to slide into these little
holes up here at the top as you can see
and they're going to kind of go in and
then settle down into it so it holds it
in place nice and firmly so that goes in
you're going to have to lift up and then
it'll sit right down and hold it in
place and then once it's there you're
going to take your slide bolt and you're
going to have to thread that through the
open part here at the back and you're
going to have to get down here and kind
of look and see where the where the end
of the bolt is this can be a little
challenging but you'll see it line up
there and just get it started by hand
and then once that's sort of in you can
take your 5/16 inch and
thread that back on there and then hand
tighten it the rest of the way until
it's locked pretty firmly in place okay
so once you're done with that take your
power cord plug it back in take your
ground and that's going to go right on
to the metal portion in the back it's a
little difficult to see so you're going
to have to kind of feel around and
you'll feel that slide into place and
then you're all set so now you're ready
to plug the machine back in and get
started what you're also going to want
to remember to do is replace the sticker
on the front so now we've changed it
from a dollar fifty to dollar
seventy-five so you can take your dollar
seventy-five sticker here peel it off of
the backing and put it right on to the
front so everybody knows how much
they're being charged to do their wash
so that's how you change the
denomination on this particular
whirlpool coin slide mechanism and we
