hello there in this video i want to go
over some settings that have made the
game a ton easier for me so without
further ado let's get right into it the
first setting that i would recommend
everyone to change is standard type
movement and legacy type movement you
can find that in character configuration
control settings general
and the reason why you want to change
this is because in standard movement you
see i press s my character back pedals
that's not terribly useful in content
when i press a and d my character is
going to spin in a circle which is also
not really that useful outside of that
the character will also
face whoever you're hitting with
abilities as you run past them which in
harder content is going to cause your
character to be uncontrollable in some
situations because you have to keep
casting abilities while running a lot of
the time in this
this is especially true for melee dps i
recommend changing this
to
legacy type movement if you don't mind
the movement yet give it a try see how
you like it
if
your muscle memory just won't permit you
to use legacy type then stay on standard
type however
you want to change your keybinds
and put strafe left a
and strafe right d that will allow you
to stay on standard movement but use a
and d to run sideways so that's really
useful the only thing you really lose is
the ability to do the power ranger move
and spin
in a circle which
let's face it we don't need that
or maybe we do
the next setting that i would definitely
change is display target's remaining hp
percentage which will let you see hp of
whoever you're fighting
so right here we can see 76 hp this is
incredibly useful for bosses and so on
below the standard legacy type movement
you can also find skip playback of
previously viewed scenario cutscenes and
transportation cutscenes this does
exactly what it says it's incredibly
useful for those dungeons that you've
run over and over and you keep having to
skip the cutscene the next setting is
incredibly useful for those people who
like to spam buttons if you go into a
character configuration
lock window settings disable display
recast time error messages
this is what happens whenever you spam a
button
but it's still on on cooldown so let me
demonstrate
we're going to use heavy swing and then
we keep spamming it and we don't get the
error message anymore and this also gets
rid of the sound effect that accompanies
that so if i
apply this again you can see it spams
not ready
and pretty much everyone knows the
ability isn't ready yet they're just
spamming it so it activates immediately
just disable that in the lock settings
it's really useful
now this next one really blew my mind
when i found out about it
because
it allows me to change the camera angle
on the fly which is really useful in
some dungeons especially in those larger
rates where you zoom out
and you just want to change the angle on
the fly you hold ctrl and you press up
and down
the up and down arrow so this lets you
see those larger bosses when you're
zoomed out further and then when you go
in you want to inspect your character
[Music]
there you go that's how freaking useful
it is uh this was especially useful when
i was playing a lot of fell and
i hate to say this but some of the
bosses did like gaze mechanics and those
usually start like at
chest height or higher for the boss and
the bosses were too tall for me i could
i couldn't see the mechanics man
so that's when i used this the next
setting i would really recommend and i
can't really demonstrate that one here
because there's not enough enemies
um is
cone targeting instead of ignore depth
you can find that in character control
target
and what that does is it cycles through
enemies right in front of you before
switching to targets further away
whereas ignore depth is going to target
from
left or right i don't remember i never
really used it much
and it's going to ignore how far away
enemies are so in dungeons sometimes you
were tap target and you would select a
target really far away
while enemies were like right in front
of you
and that just felt counter-intuitive for
me so i switched to this and never
looked back i highly recommend you
experiment with that though
while you're already here i also highly
recommend you turn on highlight
potential targets which is going to make
it even easier to see what targets
you're tap targeting between this next
setting is really useful for all of
those people who play jobs with ground
targeted abilities such as astrologian's
earthly star
and the problem here is that
basically you're selecting the ability
and then you're targeting somewhere now
in theory this is fine however if you
have to weave it like between your
abilities it gets kind of awkward to do
and the setting that
negates all of that is
limit ring movement to targeting range
and press action twice to execute so now
instead of having to press the ability
and then pressing wherever you want it
to go we can just hover over the ability
and then press the button twice
and that's going to immediately pop the
ability in that spot where our mouse
button was and that's just a lot easier
to use between gcds and it's going to
make everything a little bit cleaner
while we're already on the topic of
making things cleaner if you go into a
character configuration character battle
effect settings i highly recommend you
change this to limited
party and others what this will do is it
will hide abilities from other people
outside of those that are really
important to see while i think the
abilities look cool in this game it's
really hard to tell whenever all of them
are layered like crazy anyways i
personally can't see what the hell is
happening
when 10 black mages are hitting a box i
just have no idea
it's especially painful if you're
playing like melody dps and you can't
even see the damn boss so how you're
gonna hit positionals
if you go to ui settings party list you
can also see status effect icon display
maximum 5. now in lower level dungeons
this isn't really that much of a problem
because there's not that many status
effects
but as you do higher level rates there's
going to be a ton of these and it's just
going to clutter your screen and you'll
have no idea what's happening the next
setting is probably my personal favorite
if i had to pick between all of the ones
mentioned this would be the one that i
would take
turn off store all newly obtained items
in the army chest and it's going to
default to placing those in the
inventory in dungeons whenever you roll
for items now they're no longer going to
lance in some random place inside the
armory chest and instead they're going
to be put in your inventory now that you
have the items in your inventory instead
of your army chest you can do some
really useful stuff
first of all your army chest isn't going
to get cluttered and let's face it
sorting through that thing is a
nightmare i don't even want to open mine
because i'm scared the other things that
you can do
is if you talk to this like your grand
company officer and you turn things in
in expert delivery there's an option to
hide army chest items so all newly
obtained items i don't want these these
are random dungeon items that i rolled
for and i can now just spam turn them in
for seals the other thing that you can
do is de-synthesis you have the same
option
inventory equipment items and
instead of having to go through your
army chest and finding the items you can
now just get rid of items in your
inventory the next setting i would
change has to do with
pets and mounts especially with
abilities and those have their own
little pet hotbar that appears only
whenever you're mounted
and by default
this is also going to replace your
hotbar one so there's two options for
this
first of all
is pressing automatically replace cross
hot bar one
with pad hot bar when mounted and that's
going to
just show your normal abilities allowing
you to see the abilities see what's on
cooldown and so on
instead of replacing the whole bar which
for me
is a pretty good option the other option
is you keep this if you don't care about
seeing the abilities while you're
mounted for example
and then just going into your hut layout
and then just right click twice on pet
hotbar and that's going to hide it and
then you have it off your screen the
next one is more an annoyance for other
people than anything else and that's
inside emotes uh whenever you're emote
spamming you're going through limsa you
know you're
i don't know boxing people or you're
confirming whatever
disable display lock message because
that's going to hi i'm scared to go over
here because i want to leak my link
shell chat here they type questionable
things sometimes but by default it's
going to type a message in chat when you
disable this
it's going to hide that so you're not
spamming the chat and annoying everyone
but you still get the motion of
the emod this next one blew my mind when
i found out about it because it's so
useful whenever you don't want to go
through your whole item
inventory
or through your retainers or your
chocobo saddleback just to find one item
to find out how much you have or whether
you have it at all
you can just do slash
i search for item search
and then type the name or part of the
name that's fine you can type glam and
it's going to show glamour dispeller and
glamour prism and then when we click on
it we can do search for item and now we
can see where we have this item stored
and by default you would have to find at
least one
type of that item in your inventory
to be able to access the search for item
so this way you can figure out how much
of an item you have overall across your
whole account
without having to click on that item
which is really useful if you know
specifically what you're looking for so
for crafters this is an enormous quality
of life change this next one i was
amazed not more people knew about but
basically you can press alt plus p
to type in party chat you can press alt
plus f to type in fc chat
and you can press alt plus s to type in
say chat and it's immediately going to
go into direct chat mode so you can just
start typing this next step is for
whenever you're examining other players
or you're doing anything in the game
that requires you to have a closer look
so for example this lucky guy over there
we examine him and the screen is just
tiny like i can't see if i'm too
far away from the monitor so what you
can do is you can right click on the
window at the top and then scale window
and we just increase the size and now we
can see the entire glam so this is
really useful whenever you're doing that
um it's also useful whenever you're like
sorting through the inventory a lot like
you're leaning back you're just chilling
you know increase the size
um it's the same thing on your own
character if you want to inspect things
you just do scale window
you can go 200 if you want to and that
it's just gonna allow you to get a much
better look at items that you're
inspecting like mid-rate you want to see
how they look and you just can't see it
otherwise this next one is really useful
for whenever you're fate grinding and i
found out about this whenever i was
doing my last relic grind and i had to
go around different regions and just
farm a bajillion different fates what's
really annoying is that whenever you run
in there you have to like go up here and
do level sync
to sink down the level
instead what you can do
is you can create a level sing macro and
that just looks like this nothing else
slash level sync
and then whenever you go into the fade
now
you just press that button on your
keyboard and your level sync
incredibly useful so useful well those
are all the settings and controls that i
have for you right now if you have any
additional ones feel free to let me know
down below i won't say no i'm always
looking for more stuff to
make my life and fire fantasy just that
little bit easier
for now thanks for watching and i'll see
in the next one peace
