Hey, I'm Alex with GME Supply and today we're going to do a quick tutorial on how take the
TK-3400U4P as well as all these other radios listed here, all in the TK Series from Kenwood,
out of scan and super lock mode.
These radios are very versatile and they actually used to leave the factory in a different mode
than they do now. Kenwood has actually set them so you don't have this problem any more,
but if you have older radios, or if you've changed any of the settings on them you could
run into a situation where when you turn the radio on, if you hit the wrong set of keys
in a certain order, you might actually lock your radio into one mode. So when I'm changing
the channel like this, this isn't actually changing the channel that the radio is set
on. So you might end up locking your self out of being able to communicate with your
crew.
So new radios out of the box from us won't have this problem any more, but if you have
some older radios or if you find your radio in super lock mode, just do the next steps
and you'll be all set.
Alright, here we have 2 TK-3400U4P two-way radios from Kenwood. And in my this hand,
I have one that is in Super Lock mode and this one is a standard radio out of the box
like they are packaged now.
You can see that this radio is blinking green and this one is not. That green light means
that it is just scanning through the channels. And when I change the channel, you'll hear
that this one beeps and this one does not.
So this tells you that you're not actually changing the channel. That it is locked in
to super lock mode. This one, when I'm changing the channels, it is actually changing... 1,
2, 3, 4.
So I will set the working radio aside and we will go over now, how to take this out
of super lock mode.
Ok so this is our radio that is in super lock mode. Again you can hear that beep signaling
that it's not actually changing channels.
So to start with, we're going to turn the radio off. Then we're going to hold the bottom
button down, turn the radio on, when the light is orange, release it. Now, we're out of Super
Lock mode.
You can hear that it's not beeping when I change the channel. Then, we're going to hit
this middle button once to take it out of scan mode. And there you can see that the
light is off.
So now you have a radio that is back to regular settings. You can change the channel, and
you're also not scanning.
So there you have it, your radio is now out of super lock mode. Another thing to take
a look at is any Rebates on Kenwood radios. On the date of this release, you can get some
super savings, anywhere from 20-35 dollars back per radio when you buy 6. Kenwood's also
throwing in a free six-unit charger.
Those rebates may not be current if you are from the future and watching this, but be
sure to take a look on the website. Kenwood runs rebates pretty regularly.
Also, be sure to check out our playlist of all other Kenwood Radios. We go over some
more features, some tutorials, some unboxing, that kind of thing.
You can click on the playlist right there to see them.
