how to unstick a stuck lock this is a
padlock I actually use this to unlock a
shipping container that I moved from
America to Australia via China so it's
done some miles on the sea and it's been
in storage for a little while and it's
it's locked up the key part of it will
turn okay it's got a good old secure
little system down here for the key that
part of it is turning fine but the lock
itself wouldn't come out won't come out
there's a bit of talk around about
whether wd-40 is a good things for not
but I'll tell you what it's a good thing
for sticky mechanisms and it loosens
rusted parts and that's exactly what I
wanted to do here so when I turn the key
like it just doesn't come out it's
jammed so we're gonna spray this with
some wd-40 this lock also has a little
hole down here it's like an antifreeze
hole so you can put antifreeze in there
and when it's frozen up you can also put
lubricant in there or graphite and a lot
of people will swear by graphite and I
do because oil can tend to make things
stick but I want to get the rust out of
this just moving up and down as much as
I can
turning the key here we go
now it's open you can see there the rust
that's come up on the shaft and now it's
a matter of moving that in and out as
much as we can and cleaning off that
rust just wipe it away yeah look at that
it's coming up it's just all coming out
and wiping off so it's just a matter of
cleaning that up
maybe spraying a bit more in and I've
actually seen quite a few videos on
YouTube I'm sure you can find them as
well where people have been using w4t
unlocks for years and years and years
and it's worked fine if you're in a high
dust situation
or can tend to attract dust in a
situation like this I'm looking at how
that's coming up so quick look what it's
done to the rust it's just liquefying it
so it'll come out and we can give that a
bit more of a spray just to wash that
right out look at that and now with that
wd-40 in there that's gonna come out
really really good there's enough wd-40
in there that you don't have to get all
that rust out see the more you get out
the better but there's enough oil in
there the fish oil in there that'll keep
it great there you go add a free up a
lock
you
