hi guys
this is a video about picking or opening
an old bike so cast I walk I was given
this off a colleague at work due to her
liking it one of our departments had it
she's into photography wanted it so
together only problem is like it was
locked
yeah so it's been a little bit of a
challenge backwards and forwards so
myself and everybody at the DBC what
Smith forum have been throwing ideas at
each other because it was ideally wanted
to be opened in a non-destructive manner
are as less as possible and so we were
banging our heads together regarding
that and Solomon with his great idea
with a bobby pin bent over size of the
lock in an L ship unfortunately meant
that didn't work because of the warded
bit that was at the top I couldn't seem
to get round it with this I tried and it
wasn't having it and I think even picked
with it even said you know trial saw the
same thing and going round or could
bypass going out ignore the warded bit
that didn't work either me so I had to
think of a lot of solution to get it
open because I really didn't want to
destroy it she lied to that much so sit
and come up with a great idea also with
a screwdriver which I thought I'd try
and I hope this is the way you went may
you know with like Goni so I'm going
that way of 45 degrees and twist 360 I
gave that a girl he wouldn't have it for
some reason well I think it's catching
on that top Ward over there so I had to
try think of another plan so basically
what I looked into is the fact that
normal locks can be taken up
and the barrel can come saw out and I
thought that scenario and when sort of
looking at the Walker found around the
edge of here
I don't know if you can hear that there
squeaking guys are crunching but it's my
little boys guinea pig having a fade so
now I think he'd have opened a lock we
could've just picked him up a up or down
it could have children walk from it but
anyway what it is saw this seal around
the edge and decided to prise it off
gently this is still connected to there
by rivets we can just get underneath it
which let me see the mechanism just at
the back there head by placing the
screwdriver in a slight angle its
Whiston as you can see the lock just
popped open it is placed out of the way
bit there as soon as you put this back
in it pulls the lock back into itself
because of the mechanism there and how
that bit sort of if you can see it clips
back into there so let's close that back
up do that see how it's pulled it
straight back in so it's like a semi
destructive method what if everything is
still intact so hopefully when I tuck in
tomorrow she's going to be very pleased
with that because she's got an old case
back with a lock still on the front so
let's just go back in again and I'll
show you throw away what happens is when
you turn it inwards
it's that bottom end of the screwdriver
that seems to hit the mechanism which
actually opens it so thank you guys
everybody at DVC
locksmith forum for your hints and tips
and I know we've been bashing our heads
together a bit with this trying to get
it open non-destructive manner I think
we've achieved that so thanks very much
she'll be well pleased tomorrow
you can actually see why she do
something
and because you know it's a nice old
locking thing a keiretsu mare with the
characters I've not got tripod for it
but let's go as far as I can yeah that's
as far as it girls but as you can see
then it's not quite as simply a foot
wide thought 1/2 hi nice old bug and you
know it's I think it's for a video
camera something like that all other
different bits and pieces glycols guys I
mean we like locks old and new and as
you can see from this lady's like
humbugs old and new and sorry for that
eyelid and we just a joke and all also
only thanks for asking about my little
boy that were really carried and he's
doing really well
he's back to normal now so thanks for
that so if anybody does have one of
these walks away inside a cupboard loft
garage you name it and there's something
in it or nothing and you just want to
have it open and try have to on
that because it does actually keep
everything you know as you can see it I
mean all these scratches on their wood
over the years of the art being used but
it's a lovely little bargain so thanks
for watching guys and again thanks to
all you guys at DBC Rocksmith for them
we did a grand job when we got there in
the end so thanks for watching
