I want to show you how to do a full
factory reinstall of your Windows
operating system on a gateway laptop
this should work with any gateway laptop
that you have if it has a webcam on it
you know made the last seven eight years
it'll actually work with all a sirs as
well because Acer is made by the same
company as Gateway and II machines so it
will work with all three of these and
the whole purpose of doing a full
factory reinstall is you might be
wanting to sell your computer give it to
a friend or family member or you just
want to you just want to sell it this
will work with Windows 7 Windows 8
Windows 10 if you haven't done a backup
on your computer yet I would go ahead
and do that you can do that in the
windows and you need like maybe a a 16
to 32 gigabyte USB drive that you can
plug in and just do a full backup before
you do the reinstall and that way you
would be able to keep all your your
photos and your pictures and all that
stuff if you don't back it up it will
wipe out all your pictures and all your
photos and it will just put it to
out-of-box state like you bought a brand
new but again I would backup your
operating system if you do have access
to Windows just because your hard drive
might go bad if it's not bad now it can
go bad in the future and you would want
to have this option to reinstall the
backup as opposed to trying to find a
hard disk for Windows 7 or Windows 8 and
then plugging the product key the
Windows product key in because I know on
8 and 10 it's a lot more difficult than
it used to be in order to reinstall the
operating system on a different hard
drive ok so when you start your computer
up you want to make sure you have it
plugged in and you want to turn on the
power you're going to hold down the Alt
key that a is an apple eles and Larry
T's and Tom key on the bottom left of
your keyboard you're going to keep
holding that down and as you turn it on
you want to tap the f10 button that's F
is in Frank 10 on the upper right of the
keyboard you can actually hold both
buttons simultaneously down as you start
it up or you can just hold down the Alt
key and just randomly tap the f10 key
and you might have to try different
combinations in for it for it to catch
as you can see here once it hits the
Windows bar on the bottom and it's
loading
you know you're going into recovery mode
okay it's actually pretty smooth selling
from here you do get into the recovery
mode it might take you to a couple of
different pathways the first one here is
where you get a screen where it says
repair my computer it might not have
called the restore the first time go
ahead and select the top one repair my
computer and then it should take you
into the recovery mode by doing so if
you see the blue format like you see
here that's actually for Windows 8 or
Windows 10 and it's the same same it's a
different format but pretty much the
same principle so you would choose the
second one which would be reset and this
I would choose the first option restore
to your operating system the second
choice is if you want to back it up but
if you have a virus or something like
that that may be slowing your computer
down you want to be copying that so I
would just choose the first one and that
will give you fresh out of the box state
and this is just pretty much a notice
telling you that you will wipe out all
your videos and pictures and all that
and then from there you just prove it
that shows what hard drive it's going on
which is your SATA hard drive and then
on this option this takes about 30
minutes to do a full restore so just
hang tight and everything else is pretty
much self-explanatory
