hey guys what's going on
duis here we got another video today's
for the Tahoe last fall three of the
power door locks failed at the same time
maybe they were within a day or two each
other I don't know but it was kind of
funny how the timing was but they failed
at the same time and so instead of
spending hundreds of dollars on new door
locks found online a power they found
online this guy they do I guess like
mainly Volkswagen custom stuff but maybe
they knew a guy of the Tahoe or
something or a Chevy truck but they
started selling the motors so I'll show
you later but I took all the door locks
out had to drill out the rivets and
replace actual motors and they work
passenger drawer the rear passenger and
the rear driver's side door all worked
they were fixed across making 150 bucks
for the motors I'm sure they're making
some money on there but hey that's
business but it was better than spending
four or five six hundred dollars or even
going to the dealers been more that the
rear driver side door broke and it was
probably the one that it was in fact the
one that I messed up where I drilled out
one of the rivers too large I couldn't
get a screw in there so only one was
holding on so I think over time either
the motor fail there's something got in
there we'll find out but I took the door
apart last week motor was definitely
working had to put together the assembly
again because part of it brokes the door
wasn't even unlatching so I fixed that
and I ordered an actual the whole lock
assembly for like a hundred bucks online
so that came in and we're going to go
install that real quick and I'll show
you what to do if you buy the actual
motors there's some good videos out
there with in-depth detail but I'll show
you a quick overview of it alright so
here's the box I wanted to be a cool guy
and do an unboxing but I already opened
it when it came to mixers right so I'm
just gonna open up in the back give you
the experience
the Pacers on the Bucks it's the doorman
part
that's the part doorman 931 108 for
driver side rear is about a hundred
bucks they're a little more expensive
than the front door one
it says Titan gas cap and never seen
that before so yes I got a Titan it
better the check underlined
if you caught that but the door was
starting to catch already so we'll see
how bad it is in there just realize I
left the ten millimeter socket and
extension that I need for popping the
door panel off this will show you here
in a second see to get some more bits
but I left them all in my car so we'll
take a walk in a minute and get them yep
here they are
door lock needs a 230 bit first you want
to pull the lock up set the handles up
and then you just pry out use a pry tool
but I find that screwdriver works a
little better there we go pop that out
it's loose it's just a friction fit in
that goes over the bolt there next one
we've got this little panel right here
you can just lift up underneath lessons
here behind the door handle this is
pretty much the same in all of them
except I think the front doors as we'll
see in a minute have two three bolts and
this is two so you got one I think it's
ten millimeter fine arm actually this
bar might be eight but that's here and
then you got another one back to Logan
none over here but I think the front
doors to found quickly actually just to
show you no movement in a lock at all
everything else works alright so it is
10 millimeter I've got it set up to work
with the drill here so it's a little bit
faster anything to do to make life
easier
that one's out get it with that magnetic
screwdriver system the second actually
reached my finger today came out alright
so now you got these two bolts out I
want to take a walk out later
take the door part first first you just
you just lift up until these snaps pop
off there's two big hooks at the bottom
I'll show this to you
it's not the doors off you see are still
connected here so we need to disconnect
the window wires window harness
Clifton comes out then here we've got a
metal wire with a ball at the end I
don't know the technical term but I'll
show you get that off as you can see
here this is the wire pull assembly for
the door that the handle mechanically
connects to the door and opens the door
latch so we need to do let's get this
guy out of you can see of his a little
tab in here you need to push him with
the pliers to pull this out that way get
the tabs pressed I can pull it out and
now I can release and then the ball
releases from here really easy now the
door can come off now I've done this
before so I've already loosened the seal
but you'll see you probably have to pull
this white card off the door along that
gasket it's just a sticky gasket it'll
go back on pretty good just stick this
back here from it you keep it nice and
safe alright so if you see back here
there it is there's the door lock
assembly and our little yellow clip
attaches to the outside handle so I'm
going to pry that off just pops open
I'll show you what to take it out I just
pops open and then we can go and then
bolt the door lock and take it out so at
the top there's also a wire harness the
top to actually actuated so again show
the team I take it out you know clip is
now loose that's time for the t30 torx
bit
so the tea means now use a t30 bit take
these guys out
I'm holding a lock-in well I think this
last one out it doesn't always fall but
it might say it's in there but the bolt
still in there
just screw something so it does stay in
there pretty good by itself so now just
drop it out pull the locking bar through
the hole to the grommet and now we got
it out because see this one's kind of
nasty I tried shorten it up with some jb
weld but as plastic in metal and I
couldn't clean the surface very well
without taking this apart more and I
don't want to break it more so that
didn't work so I just zip tied it and
that held for a week but the motors not
working so gotta take off this door
hinge clip here dorian Joshu ater and
see it's just held in with a ball again
there it's a lot like brakes on a bike
when you're a kid and then up here we've
got the harness that's really kind of
hard doing someone hand if you see you
just pull up on these red taps you can
push up in the bottom two down here and
the clip will start to help you take it
out you'll see it's a kind of it
automatically all right so the the
wiring harness is off you just leave
that there and now we got to disconnect
this ball and it's the same principles
on the door card you just have to pinch
those two clips together and then pull
this out and the old door lock is free
from the door you see it's pretty
corroded
I don't know if there's a leak coming
through here from the window but you see
this is the replacement screw there's a
rivet there I'll put links below in the
description to the other video with
details on it and then there was another
one here but that one failed and held
together for a year fine without it so
just be a little more careful with you
drill this is the first one I did I
think so but got the replacement and
let's go compare the parts alright so
we've got the doorman 9 31 108 door lock
actuator you don't need to buy all the
cables and stuff for the door or
anything else you just need this part if
this is what's failed wrapped it up nice
and shiny it's always good idea to
compare the parts that you got before
you get any further
maybe you order the right one and the
wrong one maybe the same the wrong one
sure we've all done up for you haven't
you probably will but they look the same
from back here we have to transfer this
bar over 2 and that's not a big deal
just comes right out
just a hook
and hook it
yeah what's up
all right
so get the actuator and then this part
you see look at more detail later but it
hooks onto a little switch in here and
this switch is powered by the electric
motor and some gears you can see the
rivets originally that will be replaced
by screws that we just replace in the
motor
you see the the part that grabs on to
the door lock is way more robust in this
one this one I was always afraid of
breaking this one
but we're good a couple no that's the
same yep they're same club there might
be some minor manufacturing differences
but they're the same connectors are the
same here too so if we're good to go
let's start out by putting the hook back
in this is the way it sits in the
vehicle
anyways tell whether connect to the
school on top
for by that orientation area the suit
I'm good here
and then this goes out to the door lock
this goes up and up and out to come
through the door panel inside the door
and then you pull up on the door or push
down the door up so we got unlocks a lot
unlocked logs pretty simple and that's
all we need to transfer off of this
piece here we're gonna do the rest in
the car works truck and that's out so as
you as you push it on as the connector
on this thing will start to
automatically push in and lock and I
need just make sure it's locked on let's
do that this just goes on we connect
you're facing up slides on and slide it
on there and you begin to push in and
seal it all the way down
I slept in so the next thing we need to
do this harness back in there and again
same thing we just pinch those end we
put it through that ring there and then
the ball connects under there so I'll do
that so super easy it just clips in and
then the end of the wire goes around
there now we want to pull the interior a
la here we show you this when you pull
the interior handle it opens the door
all right so I'm gonna fish this back up
there get the door pull the door lock to
come through the grommet and bolt it on
the door you want to hold it in place
and start the first one just so that it
stays in place because doesn't like to
stay there probably because it's so
shiny and new the old one like to stick
around a little bit
so it kind of started by hand and I will
drill men or screw em back and try and
go a little bit slower so we don't strip
it
you get them all a little bit not
completely tight so that they line up
and we're not screening up
all right we're good all right you see
you got the door pull through or the
door lock pull this is in place child
safety lock is off with this being up
and then in here you can see that you
can see the hardest part is at the top
behind everything but that's in there
you have to reconnect the yellow tab to
the outside door pull a quick tip if
your outside door pole is pulling really
loose and it doesn't feel like it's
catching open up the door and tighten
that up and you'll have a tighter firmer
pole appears to be clipped on now let's
give a shot see if I can film hole
lightly enough there we go pull the
outside handle and it works let's see
the door lock works yeah
so let's say
yep and if it's locked and the doors
shut
nothing I think I'm actually gonna
grease up the other door locks while
we're at it today - but now it's
unlocked and it opens now the moment of
truth will it work electronically see I
remember but I might have to plug this
back into the door card first but I'm
gonna be bold and try it with just not
in there because there's no lock
assembly connected to this the front one
you have to have the front locks
connected for a dork with a front door
lock if your door locks stop completely
working you'll probably want to check
the front power control unit like on the
front doors because that seems to have a
circuit that obviously relates to all of
them for locking but if that fails the
other doors aren't going to work but I
don't know I didn't wire it up that's
just my experience all right let's see
if this goes alright drumroll lock yeah
I'm not too done locking my car one for
the driver door it's a setting and it
locks perfect alright so let's get let's
leave it I'm not let's get the door card
wired up in here you'll handle the power
window switch and we'll get this all
back together you drink a lot of water
they'll even can't go wrong with the
coke get some caffeine in you guess
again go around that's why I drink water
all right let's get this bad boy put
them back on
- make sure you fish this back through
the installation first be betrayed from
here at the headrest type on those
little hooks you can see the bottom the
door
you can rest them in there hope they can
see that these are the hooks you can fit
and the holes are they going to go out
to get everything in there pride is on
that way
so first we'll do the hard part we'll
fish this through just go through this
little hole here and then you just got
to fill up for the connector yep
mind if I rotate it all right it's in
there it's seated now I can take this
and we don't need a tool here but it
helps if you stick the wire and pull
back and I need to push the clip through
go make sure it's seated in pull
there you go you'll hear it snap sits in
there let's just the door closed it
always test before you put stuff back
together
yep that works so the Vosges gonna be
taking it back apart again how do I know
because there's been times I haven't
tested and didn't work
all right so it's in the door or through
their fish through there get the door
lock bar through the cup we want these
things
you want to get it over the top which
first video member do it back through
make sure it's seated on their farm of
it
this doors already a little loose but
that's expected
that'll be good once we bolt it on all
right sorry I want to do this first this
somehow doesn't fall back in the door
it's happened to make sure this little
clip is loose gently just like that on
there and then just test it Fox just
locked can't open I'm not getting open
cool now it's time to get these guys
back in we'll start up here this is
easier when I'm holding the camera well
my phone probably want to do this this
way if I wasn't sometimes it's much
nicer to tackle the harder one first all
right so let's get this in I just tested
it by hand make sure it's tight on there
sometimes you never know how much it
suction torqued let's do the tough one
or the harder one least holding you
camera all right it's in there I think
there's a little tray and or if you drop
it there was in the front one but let's
in so now we can put the plastic bits
back on pretty easy just line up the
holes and stick it in just go this back
here to on the top one on the bottom
okay all right
and the door card is much tighter now
it's bolted
all right let's test it from the outside
it's not Hawking because the trunks open
up yep right
unlocks do it a few times feels good
alright guys this video is to fix the
Drakh assemblies for 2008 to 2015 Chevy
Tahoe Suburbans Escalades Denalis
applies to the pickup trucks and stuff
too and I want to be surprised that this
motor fits in other year cars too you
know you know how they use these parts
like 2025 years and then they swap it
out you know there's no point
redesigning door-lock half the time so
I'll put put below all the cars to fit
Stu and will be in the title and it's
probably how you found the video all
right so here's the old door lock motor
it's in bad shape promise you the other
ones don't look this bad they're both
bolted in but let's get this apart and
you'll see if I can show you how to
replace actual motor
dollar scissors from a harbor phrase
work kind of it's that's where my elavil
JB welding try to try to work and break
just to definite in do good enough job
prepping because I didn't want to take
this thing apart all right so I'm taking
this self-tapping screw out
I've got some washers there
and stuff yep just pop right off this
all connects and there's a little switch
the connects in there and it's all grimy
in there so just probably seen better
days all right so it looks like it's a
t8 bit let's see all right let's try t10
yeah
you
order this is the part that your place
and I'm going to save all these parts
you never know can these again not going
to bother reassembling those things for
trash
I really care about the motor and maybe
some of these if something breaks but I
doubt it but can't hurt almost forgot to
check the gas door let's go do that
oh that's stuff like this this house
I'm like ridiculously anal about
tightening the time
nobody was Messing
they're really just straight into the
can
yeah look at that it's like straight in
the Arkham there's no valve venting bow
that's weird
let me know what kind of blow up that's
weirded I know Pro and gas tanks but I
thought that there was a little valve to
push in with the nozzle alright see if
the computer has a problem with that
alright guys thanks for watching I hope
this video helped and you can fix your
door locks for a lot cheaper than going
somewhere else again links below for the
actual motors so you can fix it for you
and cheaper than this this door lock is
about 100 it's around there the front
door is around 70 so we get into a mall
to be four hundred forty bucks to buy
the actual whole lock assembly but if
you do the motors it's only 200 bucks
like I said three fail for me last year
cost 150 bucks
hey last of the year has been a 100
bucks so at the end of the day 250 bucks
they're all fixed working and they fail
they fail but it's easy fixed so again
thanks watching since I favor subscribe
it god bless you keep staying up what's
right
