hey guys I don't know about you guys but
I've got a lot of locking compartments
on my RV like this one actually I've got
about a counter there's about 12
different locking compartments and they
all have these locks on them that are
getting worn out sometimes we have
different keys some keys work in some
now and not in others and it's
definitely become time to replace them
another thing you might be aware of is
if you have one of these keys that says
CH seven five one on it you are
definitely not alone because these are
the same locks that a lot of people have
that have 5th wheels travel trailers
even Class C motorhomes
and you can actually buy replacement
keys for these you know or anybody's RV
if you want to open their exterior
storage compartments so I one of the
replaces and what I really wanted was to
have one key that could open any lock on
the outside of my RV and I found a
really quick solution for that because
when I was looking you can only get like
maybe a pack of five or whatever from my
RV store or from Amazon but I found a
better way to do that and it solved all
my problems and it's really easy to
install I'm going to show you how to do
that coming right up
so once I realized that I couldn't find
the you know full set of locks to
replace all of my compartment locks from
Amazon or my local RV supply place you
know I decided when y'all go check out
on my local locksmith because I'm pretty
sure I could order locks to them and you
know I want to promote some local
business and all that unfortunately you
know just never open you know when I was
able to go there I guess we work the
same hours or something so I end up
going online and turns out there's a
company called industrial lock and
hardware out of Pasadena no Palmdale
Palmdale California and they have a
website it's called ch 751 dot-com and
yeah they sell replacement locks
specifically for these seventy-five one
locks and they're high quality cam locks
and they're really easy to order I mean
really all you do is you go to their
website and they actually have a
worksheet that you can download and you
can you know count and measure all of
your existing locks that you want to
replace and you fill out this worksheet
and it really helps you complete the
order form online so when you're trying
to fill out this form you need to know
what size and type of lock you want to
replace because some of these depending
upon the cabinet door are like half inch
or 3/4 inch long locks so you want to
make sure that you're getting the
correct size and what I found is that
you know different compartments may have
different size locks so you have to
really go and check out the existing
locks on all your compartments that you
want to upgrade and make sure that
you're ordering the right number of
locks now they also have different
lengths and types of these latches that
are on the inside of the lock that
actually you know hold the door in place
and you want to make sure that you
measure those two and you figure out you
know what type it is and they have
pictures and stuff on this little form
that you fill out that to make it really
easy once I had all my measurements I
was ready to place my order and I simply
went in there online
order form and put in all the dimensions
and lock types that I wanted and put
together an order and it came to about
between 70 and 80 bucks you know which
may seem high to replace a few locks but
actually I had 13 different locks that I
was replacing so you know I wanted them
all keyed to the same key and actually
ended up putting some locks on
compartments that didn't have locks
before so it really worked out really
well and the cool thing about it was
that it you know it came within just a
few days like three days I think it was
Amazon Prime or something but it was not
and I should tell you that they're not
paying me to talk about their product or
anything just really worked out for me
all the hardware came they came in this
little plastic shrink-wrapped bag I
guess that's all kind of sealed with all
these little compartments in it so that
each little part has its own compartment
so that was really easy to figure out
which piece goes with what locks so that
was really kind of nice here's the new
cam lock that I ordered and there's a
whole bunch of these but this is one of
many so you can see it's a different
kind of key pretty you need to get you
know opens and closes moves really
smooth so let's swap this out
and I'll show you how to do it okay
first just going to remove this screw
that holds on this latch and come throw
it out
sit see it save that then there's a nut
here
watch that is a might be a little piece
in my fall-off so you get a little
crescent ranch or something and move the
nut
and
the lock itself just pop right out just
like that

I'm pretty happy with the outcome of
this you know this whole process of
ordering the locks you know measuring
everything and and getting him on order
and installing them was really painless
and its really an easy project to do for
just about anybody you don't really need
anything fancy to do it you know like I
said a crescent wrench maybe I did make
a few modifications to a couple that I
got a couple extra to put a lock on
things like my gas cap that I didn't
have a lock on it before so I grow I had
to grind down one of the latches to kind
of make it look like the old latch that
was there so that it would work properly
now I got one key that works on all the
exterior compartments on my RV and I'm
pretty happy with that because that is
what I was after and I don't have to
worry about anybody having this
particular key for my RV you know this
is something that you're interested in
doing I'll go ahead and leave a link to
the industrial lock and hardware website
in the description if you have any
comments or questions go ahead and leave
them down there as well but take care
guys we'll see you next time
