you
this is the starter disable relay and
harness that will come with your LCS
plus we're going to go ahead and get
this ready to be installed in the
vehicle we'll do that by first just
plugging the relay into the harness
pressing down make sure that it's firmly
seated the next thing that we're going
to do is tape the red and white leads
together and these are the leads that
are going to go to the actual starter
wire in the vehicle and I'm going to
tape these down to within about two
inches of the end of the wire
next thing that I'm going to do is tape
the orange wire I'm taping this wire
separate of these other two because this
is the wire that will actually run up to
your LCS Plus unit that will control
whether or not the vehicle is disabled
or enabled
and the last thing that I'm going to do
is take both of them together but only
for just a short distance across this
harness and that's just to keep all of
our wiring neat and clean looking
this is what your starter disable relay
should look like before we install it in
the vehicle the next thing we're going
to do is show you how to install a
starter disable in this vehicle first
thing we're going to need to do is use a
10 millimeter socket and remove the
small stir that's below the steering
column housing there are four ten
millimeter nuts that hold this on and
the bolts are simply just sawed off
after that the next thing we need to do
is actually locate the starter wire in
the vehicle if you visit the UTS site we
will have a diagnostic chart on there
that you'll be able to look over and see
some suggestions for what the wire color
and location may be for this particular
vehicle I've found that the yellow wire
at the ignition switch is the wire that
starts the vehicle now looking down
underneath here I see several different
yellow wires so I'm going to have to use
my multimeter to probe these wires off
and make sure that I have the right
starter wire this is the wire that I'm
going to start with so what I'm going to
do with this wire is I'm going to go
ahead and strip a little bit of the wire
back and I'm going to attach my
multimeter to it I'm going to put the
positive lead on this wire and I'm going
to ground the ground lead go ahead turn
on my meter I can see that there's no
voltage on this line and I'm going to go
ahead and try and start the track
so if you saw that whenever I went to
start the vehicle the voltage changed on
the meter so I'm pretty sure that this
is my water the next thing that I want
to do is I want to go in Hearne and
actually cut this wire now that the wire
is cut in half I'm going to come back up
here to the key I'm going to attach my
multimeter lead to the wire that goes
into the switch directly the other wire
is the wire that goes out to the starter
so I just want to connect my lead for my
multimeter to this wire and I'm going to
turn the key again and see if the
vehicle starts if you look at the
multimeter you'll be able to see that
when I turn the key the wire goes to 12
volts when I let the key off of the
start position it drops back down to
zero by doing this I know that this is
my starter wire and that this particular
wire that I'm on is the side that goes
to the t switch this is the wire that
we're going to connect to the red wire
that comes out of our relay the red wire
will always go towards the key in the
ignition system I'm just going to go
ahead and strip a little bit more wire
off of this lead and off of the lead
that goes to the starter itself the next
thing I'm going to do is I'm going to go
ahead and take that red wire I'm going
to twist it together with the key side
of the starter circuit
after I'm done I'll take the white wire
and I will twist it together with our
lead that goes to the starter
at this point the vehicle should start
again if I attempt to start it which it
does and the last part of this that I
want to do just to test and make sure
that my starter disabled is working is I
want to take the orange wire this is the
wire that will go up to our LCS Plus
unit and I just want to ground it if I
hold this wire to ground and I try to
start the vehicle the vehicle should not
start which it does not if I take this
wire off the ground the vehicle should
start again
I've now verified that my starter
disabled wiring is working so what I'm
going to do is I'm going to solder these
wires together I'm going to tape them up
and then I'm going to go ahead and hide
this relay somewhere back in the dash
where it's not seen the last step would
be routing this wire up to my LCS plus
unit and connecting it to the orange
wire that comes off of the unit itself
now that we've routed our wire down
through the dash down to the obd2
connector we're going to go ahead and
hardwire the unit into this connector
for power and ground first thing I'm
going to do is just cut this tape away
the next thing I want to do is locate my
power and ground wire and an obd to plug
the bottom right hand corner now if
you're looking at this plug you see that
the top part is wider than the bottom
part if you're looking at the plug
exactly in this angle the bottom right
hand side is always power if I turn the
plug over I see that that pin is an
orange pin so I'm going to go and pull
that wire out the next thing I want to
do is look for my ground wire directly
above where my power wire goes in is an
empty slot some cars it may be empty
some cars it may not but it either rate
you're going to go above where the power
wire was and you're going to go over for
slots so 1 2 3 4 the fourth slot will
always be your ground if I flip the unit
over and count the fourth slot I see
that it's this black wire with a white
stripe so I'm going to go ahead and pull
the black and white wire aside with my
orange wire the next thing I'm going to
do is go ahead and strip my wires that
are coming off of my LC s plus unit and
I'm going to strip a little bit of wire
back from the power and the ground on
the obd2 connector you always want to
connect the ground wire first this will
help to avoid damaging your unit I'm
just going to wrap that around there
and then the next thing I'm going to do
is hook up the power try to keep a
finger in between these two when you're
doing this to keep the wires from
touching and shorting out after I have
the wire tightly wrapped around I will
go in and solder both of these
connections tape them up individually
and then I'll tape the whole bundle back
together so that it looks like the
factory installed it and that would
conclude my installation on this unit
