last week I received this mini 4G mobile
Wi-Fi device from AE and naturally I am
going to review it and maybe get a bit
of a simple instruction guidance on how
to set it up and use it although it is
very simple to use what this thing does
is it takes a 3G or 4G mobile network
signal and then spits out the data
connection as Wi-Fi for you to use on
your devices so I've know if you've gone
out for picnic and you've got those
tablets you can all connect them up to
the mobile hotspot and then everyone can
use the Internet you can of course also
connect phones to it as I've done and
planet even computers laptops really
anything that has Wi-Fi and it will then
connect you to the 4G network if 4G is
available and talking about supported
technologies this device supports 3G on
the standard UK frequencies and 4G on
band 3 band 7 and band 20 the 4G Wi-Fi
mini does not connect or support
2g bands which means that it will only
use through your 4G which many people
will be happy weird because in the rare
situation that some phones do sort of
connect a 2g the data experience
generally is not very good and
especially we've got multiple devices
connected to that city connection
clearly it's not really going to work so
by supporting freezing 40 they are
supporting sort of mobile broadband
earth is the mobile broadband device
that is very much what you would expect
in terms of the Wi-Fi signal the device
supports its standard 2.4 gigahertz
b/g/n Wi-Fi there isn't 5 gigahertz
Wi-Fi on the device it obviously has a
built in battery which have actually
quite good actually life and obviously
charges over microUSB like pretty much
every modern electron
device now that we know a little bit
about the 4G Wi-Fi mini I'm just going
to quickly show it show you around it a
little bit around the box
Cinci there creates a personal secure
Wi-Fi hotspot up to 10 devices and it
says pocket-sized and it really is quite
small
quite a nice yellow boxes and possibly
the innards slip out there and also you
can see Vee logo this then just lifts up
and then inside that is the keep me card
which contains the Wi-Fi details for air
which is underneath my finger there is
the sort of narrow name and Wi-Fi parts
of 4s the details arms printed on this
card because obviously they probably
realize that people would lose them and
then underneath that is the 4G Wi-Fi
unit itself and it's contains within its
little phone protector and then easily
just Springs out there so if we just
have a quick look round see what the SIM
card slot under the cover there the
microUSB port I think a little reset
button and then that's pretty much it
apart from the power button at the front
there and of course there are key
details for the device printed up on the
label there and that's really all there
is to the device itself is very small
and I mean I've got small hands that
it's definitely very small compared to
say what I expected something that
clearly and such as my iPhone 7 was left
in the box is to make the accessories
and further information so obviously it
comes with a USB cable to charge it
which is actually the standard micro USB
cable so you can use your own and that's
all there is that part of it and then
underneath that is a little sort of
carry case for it and then basically the
instructions so you can stick it in a
nice little
case to protect it when a traveling
around and about preparing the mobile
Wi-Fi for use is very simple all you
need to do is charge it using the
microUSB charging cable plugged into a
computer or USB power supply and then
the other end into the micro USB port
there when the device is fully charged
the ring is fully illuminated on the
front of the device there after the
device is fully charged it is necessary
to insert the SIM card into the device
so it can connect to these mobile
network which is done by opening up the
protecting tab there and then inserting
a piece in card as is very clearly
marked on the side of the mobile Wi-Fi
it only takes a nano SIM which is the
smallest SIM you contained within the
sim packaging so what you need to do is
to totally remove all of the adapters
from around the SIM card and these the
metal contact thing SIM card that's left
is the nano SIM which then goes into the
device with the metal on the top here
and it goes inside with a nice little
click so as you see there I've got the
metal on the top and then that just goes
inside and it goes in with a nice little
click and then that is that there you
can just put the cover on again and the
device is ready to be powered on once
powered on it is simply a case of
searching for Wi-Fi networks on your
device and then connecting to the
hotspot using the details on the keep me
that he provides or also the details
apprentice on the bottom of the 4G Wi-Fi
device if it's the first time that
you've used it you may have to go
through additional prompts in order to
selectively eight SIM card in the device
however that's all very straightforward
like a Texas case of really following
the prompt and then you should be ready
to browse online to your heart's content
pretty much up to obviously the amount
of data that you have on your plan and
the device does have a web portal so you
can which you can access til you get
some information about the connection
that you have and the amount of data
you've use and features like that for
example which is accessed through
192.168.1.1 which you just type into the
web browser of your chosen device so how
does the device perform in real world
use so I've used this 4G Wi-Fi device on
a number of trips with devices connected
to air using mobile data and so on and
some of these places have been some
quite rural roads and quite hard to come
places and obviously been using it
recently heavily in those periods and
over a one and a bit our trip the
battery went down to three LEDs it's
about seventy five percent which
considering the so weak signal in the
area and the sort device activity I
thought is very good and actually
surprised me with the size of the device
because I thought the battering things
going to be absolutely tiny because the
device itself is but it seemed to cope
how to define 4G signal strength why
seems to be very similar to the phones I
had me on the time as well just a thing
to note though is 2.4 gigahertz only on
the Wi-Fi side of things so if you're in
an area with five billion and the Wi-Fi
hotspot
rating on that band it will sort of
inevitably hit performance as you would
expect and likewise in terms of 40 days
feed Ozzy that's affected by the number
of users but for typical usage just
casually sort of strolling around a city
and then sort of being a passenger in a
rural area it codes absolutely fine as
far as I'm concerned really so that's
all good really and it does charge quite
quickly as well which I guess supports
my theory that it had a faceb or battery
but nonetheless it does work very well
as I pretty much expect it and the
device does come on a whole lot of
different plans pay you go and contract
as you would expect and the prices out
will probably change all the time so
there's not really much point me sort of
going into that in this video so thanks
for watching and I'll see you on the
next one
