When you are going through your career journey,
you're working on your career path,
your career path also does work on you.
How to sell yourself in an interview to hiring managers and potential bosses.
You can't sell yourself if you don't believe in yourself.
You can't sell yourself if you don't believe in your abilities.
You can't tell yourself if you don't believe that you can make it work if you go
down that career path.
The first step is to believe in your mission and to believe in your
capabilities because people don't see you through their eyes.
They see you through your eyes.
So if you are genuinely doubting your abilities and you're doubting your
capabilities and your skills, it will come across that way.
People will pick up from it and they will see yourself in the same way.
The way you see yourself will be a mirror of how the hiring manager and how the
potential bosses will interact with you in your interview.
Number two, people don't buy products and services. They buy stories.
So get used to telling
compelling stories about yourself,
compelling stories of how you got to where you are today and
why you believe in what you do and why you are pursuing this opportunity.
And also watch my video on, Tell me about yourself. Watch my video on that.
Just click the link and watch my video on that,
where I tell you how to answer that question,
Tell me about yourself in an interview with hiring managers and potential bosses.
So what makes a good story? If you look at any good story out there,
it has a character, you know, the main character.
It also has a plot and it also has a desire.
So the character goes on this journey and in the plot,
the entire plot of the story,
he or she is trying to accomplish something that they desire.
So those are the three elements that make up a good story.
So when you're telling your story and your sharing your story in an interview,
make sure that you include
all three elements.
So you want to share your reasons for going onto this journey,
what that journey is,
what you desire for yourself in your career in the interview and any conflicts
that you faced.
So your story will define and describe the journey you went on to achieve the
desires that you have in your career and in your life. But in all good stories,
the most compelling and the most captivating stories and all of those stories,
they have one other element. You see when you are going through
your career journey, you're working on your career path,
your career path also does work on you.
And this is the most important element of a story that most people leave out.
But it is also the
one thing that will get your listeners to have a vested interest in you.
And so this is the story of your transformation because as you are going on this
journey,
you are facing the conflicts that you faced in your career and you have tried to
achieve the most worthwhile goals for your career.
You have received a transformation. You're not the same person
you are now compared to when you were, when you first started this journey.
So this is the second part of the journey that you experienced as the character
of your own plot. So share with them,
share with the hiring managers and the potential bosses, the transformations
that you have experienced as you were going on this career journey to achieve
your goals, you're worthwhile goals. Talk about this,
and when you talk about it this way, you immediately
become more relatable and they will have a vested interest in your journey.
Number three, people buy solutions to problems.
So your hiring manager and your potential boss,
they have a problem in their company that they are trying to solve.
They want to hire someone to help them to solve a problem that they have.
So you have to get clarity and to really understand what is that
problem that you're going to be trying to help them solve in their company?
What does it look like and how are you going to help them to solve it?
And in what way can you communicate the value you bring in
helping them to alleviate their frustrations from the problem?
The better you can understand their current situation,
the better you can understand the risks they are taking,
the cost that they are currently paying for not solving those problems.
The better your chance of selling them on the solution which is you,
which is hiring you. Comment below,
what did you learn and what steps are you going to take so that you can sell
yourself more effectively to hiring managers and potential bosses.
