thank you guys how to make a
ton of money and solar
well the truth of the matter is that
you're paid in a direct reflection upon
the difficulty of problems that you're
willing to solve you're definitely doing
the wrong thing you should definitely
get into solar and you can make a whole
heck of a lot more money today we have a
special guest carlos he's been in a few
of our videos and he's going to talk a
little bit about how much money you can
make in the solar industry because i get
comments all the time about people
asking me how much you can make people
that
you know don't believe that you can
reach certain income levels in solar so
as someone who's been in this industry
for five years been through the ups and
downs been with multiple companies and
then has started his own company pacific
united power um he's gonna share some of
his thoughts with you and make sure to
stay tuned until the end of the video
because we're gonna show you how much he
made in personal commissions just from
deals that he sold in the last month so
we'll cut to him now
and when it comes to solar there's a lot
of misconceptions out there now
obviously this channel's done a great
job of trying to break down some of
those so that people can get a better
idea of what we're actually doing
because at the end of the day at the end
of the day many people go
green because it saves the money some
people for the environment there's a lot
of different reasons why it generally
makes sense the majority of markets in
the country but there's only select few
people and it's like a few companies out
there who can actually give you the
tools and teach you up to get you into
those better positions there's this
misconception now in the public that the
only way to really make money ethically
in in this country is to go to school
until you're 30. that's who money's for
that is just not the case
money is for people who are able and
driven to actually go out and find it
make it make sense right but then and
then be knowledgeable enough to make
sure that they're working for the right
companies in order to get there
so within the solar landscape the thing
is is that with the saturation pools
what happens is this so the people who
are selling cell phones let's say back
in the 1990s right like early 90s were
making
a lot of money and commissions off every
single cell phone they sold right those
big briefcase phones and everything else
the reason being was because they had to
find first generation adopters to adopt
using those phones because no one used
those things before so
because you're going to end up getting
less sales because there's not that many
doctors because people are risk averse
they don't want to they don't want to be
the first of their friends to do
something in a lot of cases
the salesperson has to be incredibly
good at being able to get that person to
do that thing and their commissions
should be a direct representation of
that now that everyone has a cell phone
right you just go into verizon store and
everything for the most part most of the
cell phone guys are making maybe a
little bit of a bonus but mostly hourly
pay because they went from being
salesman
the money pool to order takers right so
once you go from being a salesperson to
order takers where the issue arises
right someone knocking doors salesmen
someone working at costco order taker
right you don't want to be in an order
taker position you want to be in a
salesperson position now
solar works in a similar way to how
mortgages work prior to the economic
crisis just a little bit more ethically
in that essentially um let me pull out
something real quick so let's say
let's take out this marker okay so this
is how it works for most companies that
you're going to deal with you'll have an
installation group right we'll just say
this is the instagram right so the
install group goes to the sales sales
team right and they'll go to that sales
team and they go hey
you can sell
this
pen for one dollar
now the sales team has to cover their
costs there's a lot of costs incurred
whenever you start your own company i
would know right there's legal liability
protection um there's actually paying
for things like leases paying in certain
cases installers out there actually pay
for every single time one of the reps
cancels there's all kinds of fees and
costs that are incurred and work that
that is involved to just start that
relationship off so you have you have
your install company right here so they
say you can sell this for a dollar and
then the uh the sales company goes okay
well what we're gonna do is we're gonna
hire a lot of reps right
and we're gonna pay them
everything they they sell this pen over
a dollar forty right and in certain
cases depending on how they're set up
they'll say hey
everyone who's a manager is able to sell
this for a dollar twenty and you make
everything from a dollar forty
up right or in other cases there's just
a flat rate for where you can sell it at
and then it is up to the sales rep
because the the truth is all the
operations can be perfect everything
will be perfect the installation partner
can be perfect all in perfect
but if there's no one selling the damn
pen then no one makes any money
and that's the importance of the sales
person is that they're the middlemen of
the economy yet they are the most
important person because cars would have
never left the factory if there wasn't a
wacko out there trying to sell people on
on model t's when no one else actually
had cars at that time there's gonna be
have to be the risk takers who are
willing to take those risks to go to try
to sell that pen that no one else has
and that's where the margins are made
and so what happens is that really
really well-versed sales reps who know
how much money they can make in this
market are gonna sell this pen in
certain cases for four or five dollars
making more money than the installation
department and the sales teams
right then their overhead and the
install teams that's the crazy thing
when it comes to solar because
even though obviously with online and
everything else there's a lot of
transparency when it comes to customers
at the end of the day there's also so
many misconceptions that's only going to
be the really great sales reps who are
really well trained by good companies
they're going to be able to do great
things but to add on a little bit more
on the pen right i want to get back to
this pen again
so to create another separation between
a good sales company and maybe one
that's having a few issues
so occasionally let's say i want to
start a company right
and i have and i go to this installer
and he has this pen
now he tells me
not only is the greatest pen in the
world
but you can only sell this pen
now what does that mean for me as a
sales company it means that i need to
make sure that every single customer i
have even if they don't need this pen
maybe they actually need
this pen only choose this one because
i'm now legally only allowed to sell
this pen right that's called an
exclusive contract with an installer
right
versus
a broker company like let's say a
broker company right like pacific united
power for instance goes you know what
you can sell this pen you can sell this
pen you can sell this pen you can sell
whatever pen you need to make it make
sense
for the customer right there's there's
no cookie cutter outfit and so so just
understanding that little difference
there it's going to save you a lot of
headache when it comes to trying to find
proper companies to work for i've worked
for both types there's benefits and
negatives but overall
if the more and more knowledgeable our
customers get the more and more they're
going to know about all these different
types of pence
and so it's it's it's it's important for
us as just as intelligent sales people
to be able to handle anything in those
situations what i want to talk about is
just how much money you can actually
make within solar now
one of the things though that that may
perturb certain people is wow this
person is making too much money in this
business and the truth of the matter is
that high commissions are actually good
for consumers in the beginning because
if if people for the amount of work we
actually have to do in a lot of these
cases in order to get customers to the
finish line the navigations negotiations
working with different people working
with different family structures and
everything else if we weren't paid
handsomely then we wouldn't do this job
if we're not willing to do this job then
the product doesn't end up going out to
market and then states like florida or
california or texas aren't going to be
able to hit these renewable energy
mandates that are being called for not
only state levels but in certain cases
federal levels so we're doing our part
in order to make that happen right those
commission structures are actually
beneficial for everyone around right so
i get paid a lot which means i can buy
cool stuff but it also means that that
more people are actually going green
because i'm able to convince people who
sat with 10 15 other sales reps in
certain cases and get them to the finish
line so i can get panels on their roof
lowering their bill in places like san
diego county by 40-60 percent at no cost
literally it cost them nothing to do it
in these in certain situations
and then everyone gets to benefit except
for the utility company who's charging
way too much money to the actual and
then consumer in these cases
so
when you're looking into getting into
solar
you're a lot of things are going to get
thrown out there like oh do you want to
be a setter or a closer however you want
to set that up right because so in in in
sales acquisitions depending on the
company you're working for you're going
to run into a couple different things
and a lot of places they'll have it set
up so that
one person is actually going out and
physically knocking the doors and
getting the appointments from people
and then that person then goes in and
close those deals right and so there's a
separation of workers in that in that
company
there's there's benefits and losses
depending on the situation right because
if you're actually out there generating
your own self from end to end the finish
line then you're probably making more
money but in a lot of cases that means
you're doing additional work that maybe
you didn't need to do so as you're
getting into your solar journey it's
important to be able to navigate that
and have people reliable people and
managers you can be working with to
figure out what's going to best suit
your needs in those cases
stating that i've personally paid out
you know a setter 15 000 in a week for
literally just setting the leads
and then that was their their payout
literally for just for just knocking the
door to set me up with appointments so
if you're working with consistent
reliable people no matter where you are
down the chain there's a great chance to
make an absurd
level of money that's the reason why i
went from being a mortgage broker with a
crazy you know a great college degree
from university texas and all that good
stuff to jumping into door knocking in
my freaking 30s because i saw the
opportunity i made sure i had to jump on
it as soon as possible but when you jump
on it it's so important to not think of
this job as a side hustle one of the
most important things i was told a while
back was actually from my well my old
mortgage sales manager was
listen no one makes a hundred thousand
dollars as a sidekick she was like your
first 100k will always be your hardest
and it's gonna be the one you're gonna
have to work for the most
so if you're trying to think of solar
something i'm gonna do it on the side
dude once you realize how much money
there is to be made you'll realize that
that that your return on investment time
wise is best spent doing solar all of
the time versus almost anything else out
there and it is not something that is
going to last forever this isn't one of
those like call to action you have to do
this in the next 30 seconds instagram
post please swipe up but the truth of
the matter is as as market penetration
hits more and more on every one of these
states those commissions will start
going down as we go from being sales
people to order takers but then second
and third generation of doctors start
coming in and that money is lost
literally getting into solar right now
is getting into bitcoin when it was two
hundred dollars like that's the type of
roi that i'm talking about difference um
versus if you're choosing to get into
solar in three to four years this is not
something to think about in the near
future this is something worthy of
quitting whatever the hell it is that
you're doing right now and jumping into
this and then working with a company who
can actually help you do what you want
to do right now as far as my my uh
personal best month i made 100k
in a month right 100 000 in one month
and that wasn't outside of the range of
what i made throughout the whole year
but you'll see on the little drop down
thing here just just the kind of money
that can be made and keep that in mind
here that's that's you do that
throughout the whole year that's 1.2
million dollars and that was that was
after i already paid my setter my
assistant me paying my own company right
that was me on on a reps pay scale
because you got to pay the company you
got to pay all these other people right
this is just literally just off of the
sales themselves that's the type of
money we're talking about so when you
see that number right like a hundred
thousand dollars in a month you're gonna
go well carlos has been in solar for
four or five years or whatever he did
mortgages in the past
fair totally fair like i run my own
freaking company right
all fair things what i can tell you
right now is that that in solar
um even before i started my own company
i was being paid four times more
by that point in my career than it was
when i started because commissions have
been increasing and increasingly
increasing
so realistically like if you put pedal
to the metal and you really bust your
bust your butt
and you come from
any door knocking or any sales in
general
i i've literally
seen barbers make 200 to 300 000 in
their first year never do door knocking
in the past
that's a real
number
and that's not just saying
oh if you work for my company that's how
much money you'll make no i'm talking
about other companies i'm talking about
huge companies small companies i've seen
absurd levels of commission
the the
the biggest issue i run into solar as as
being an owner is being a manager
is that the commissions are almost too
high because
we'll pay out some 20 year old kid
you know uh fifteen thousand dollars in
his second month and he'll make that in
the second month and then the next month
he makes thirty thousand dollars and
then he's like bro this is the most
amount of money i've ever had in my life
i'm going to puerto rico i'm just going
to chill you're just like no but then
you're just literally going to restart
again because when you come back you're
going to be rusty you're not going to be
as good and and the truth is that once
you come of a certain age or realization
a maturity level to know that this money
is not going to last forever and that
every single moment money is inside of
your checking account i mean the
inflation rate just as last year was
about six and a half percent it's
probably realistically higher than that
it is your moral obligation to be
massively successful and to create
generational wealth
when there is blood on the floor it is
time to buy property sun it is that's
the time where you want to be stacking
and stacking and stacking and stacking
and stacking so then you can invest so
you're not stuck in a situation where
you're a door knocker for the next 20
years of your life i'm not saying
there's anything wrong with that but to
be fair i just don't want to be in that
position i want to be in a better
position to where i'm making my money
working for me actively right i'm not
doing that network marketing residual
income thing but actually making bigger
money moves in the future
and the only way you can really get
there is you got to go make your first
meal and the quicker you make your first
meal the better off you're going to be
for the rest of your entire life because
now you are outside of the range of uh
of poverty unless you decide to buy a
lamborghini the next damn day
