congratulations for clicking on this
video that means you are ready to list
your first item and get started creating
your business the right way I picked out
some super cool stuff today they're
lamps so let me show you what we do when
we take pictures
these are pretty rare
these are Mexican
paper mache
probably from the 1950s but they could
potentially be earlier
and I try to get as many detail shots
right here I've got a little bit of
damage so I want to make sure I get that
in the photo
the most important thing with photos is
the buyer should not be surprised they
should get exactly
what they think they're getting looks
like the paper mache part is about 18
inches and I just want to show that
I'm going to set those aside and I'm
going to take pictures of the next item
which is one of my favorite things to
list so let's get right to that one this
is my second item one of my favorite
things I paid 1.25 for this and it is an
Abu Garcia
uh bait casting reel this is a
left-handed one this is a 5001c I did
clean it up I'm going to take pictures
of this
and let me show you step by step exactly
what I clicked to help you get these
listed when you start yours I'm on the
computer now and so we're going to jump
right on to the eBay seller Hub and
we're going to start by listing these
amazing lamps all right and if you look
on the screen right here this is the
seller Hub and the part where you will
find where to list is where it says
listings right here
and at the very top of that it says
create listing we're going to click on
that and right off the bat this is all
new this is all new from the last time
that we did it and I don't have
templates set up because I'm assuming if
you're new you probably don't have
templates set up let's put in vintage
lamp
you've got a couple of choices here you
could scroll through all of these
pictures and see if you can find
something that's the same as what you
have
on mine I intentionally selected
something that I know isn't going to be
on there it's not going to be there
nobody has any so I'm going to I could
go and try and find one and then copy
theirs I could click over here on the
left and add a bunch of details that
might get me closer to what we've got
but we're going to go right down here to
the bottom
continue without a match and mine are
going to be for parts not working the
the electronics are not complete
so we're going to click that and that
brings us to the new listing platform
and we've got all of our pictures right
here is where those are going to go how
did I get the pictures on there you have
a couple of choices I can plug my phone
into the computer and then upload them
through there
or I can start on this save it as a
draft and then open it on my phone I am
going to plug my phone in
what I have to do is stick these into a
temporary file so that I can get to them
now
it'll copy those pictures over there now
they're on my computer and we will be
able to upload those there are my photos
I do love being able to add so many
photos to eBay when you have vintage
items like these the more photos that
you have the better I have
uh all of those pictures uploaded but I
want to do one more thing I pay for
photo room and I do like it for my main
photograph so if I go to photo room
and I can start from a photo
and click on one
and these have some contrast so it'll
probably do a pretty good job with this
that looks pretty good I'm gonna put it
on a white background
and I am going to download that once you
have downloaded your photo you can
always let me get rid of that thing you
can always take this
and drag your new photo up I want that
to be my main photo also I do edit my
photos you do not have to edit your
photos people are going to be able to
look at these and tell what I've got
eBay's editing tools are pretty good now
that we've entered our pictures and I've
got measurements in there you can see
what you're getting now I'm going to
scroll down to the title and right now
it says vintage lamp so let's dress that
up a little bit so let's talk a little
bit about what's in this title
it's a vintage pair paper mache lamps
artist signed Mexican bride and groom oh
oh oh oh
AK is uh one of the abbreviations that I
will use and that's one of a kind and
handmade I also use MCM for something
like that which is mid-century modern
and the first three is vtg which is
vintage which actually in the eBay
search engine it will read vtg
as vintage so if somebody searches for
vintage vtg will still come up I am not
a fan of paying for subtitles I don't
ever do that custom SKU right here this
is where I put in where I'm going to
store that these two lamps are not going
to go in one of my tubs with my clothes
the flat file that I use I will put them
on top of that so watch How complicated
this is on top of the slant file
there now when it sells I'm gonna know
where to go get them it's under
Collectibles lamps and lighting and
brand as many of these boxes as you can
check the more accurate your listing
will be so it is unbranted uh they
you've got a bunch of different types of
choices here and it's an electric lamp
there's a lot of overlap
so you know for me I would prefer to put
artist made or something like that I
don't see that it is a table lamp so I
will put that
power source would be corded Electric
design
um
Mexican
wedding
couple and so what you can do if you
don't see the one you want when you
enter a custom value you got to click
this little plus sign
and now that will show up in your
choices
uh the manufacturer is it's unbranded so
and I'm going to add that
style 1950s is it an antique antique
generally refers to things that are over
100 years old vintage is things that are
generally over 20 years old the cord
color is I'm gonna put not applicable
because the cords on these are cut and
the light color is not applicable there
are no variations I have a video out for
variation listings this is not a
variation listing the buyer gets both of
these
it is listed for parts not working you
can come through here and of something
like this I want to be as clear as I
possibly can that these must be
professionally rewired before being used
all right
now for the description here's what I
like to do I like to take my title
copy that
and I move down and I put that at the
top of the description I get rid of any
abbreviations
fact normally I try to
space those out make it look just a
little bit better
I don't put a ton in the description
because I'm not convinced anybody reads
it but on this one there are a few
things that I put in there to make sure
that if the search engine gets that far
that it does check form
I am going to run these on a Buy It Now
the only time that I do an auction is if
I know that I have an item that
everybody is looking for and that there
are none available if there's going to
be super high interest and I've got the
only one then I will run an auction on
these they're very rare they're very
unusual I wouldn't run an auction
because I feel like these could sit six
months or a year before they sell so I'm
not going to run an auction I will do it
buy it now
I am going to price these High what
Would You price them at post in the
comments below before I type in what I'm
going to ask and let's see what you come
up with let's see if I'm even close
I'm going to ask 350 your best offer
so right here allow offers I can just
turn that on and then it's going to ask
me a couple of questions I don't turn on
minimum offer and I don't do auto accept
and and I have a and I have a really
good reason for that if somebody is
going to lowball me I just listed these
for 350 and let's say somebody wants to
send me a 2.50 offer obviously I'm not
going to take that and auto decline is
fine but I like to get on there and look
at the feedback that those buyers leave
other Sellers and if it is somebody
that's genuinely a problem then I am not
going to do business with them and I
want to know that before I ship them
something so I don't put in a minimum
and I don't do auto accept because I
still want to see their feedback
uh I don't schedule my listings let's
say that you could only list one day a
week and and but you can list 20 items
that day your eBay store will do better
if you have items going active every day
or if you're going to be on vacation or
you're going to be away from a few days
and you want things to keep getting
listed so that your store stays active
you could schedule your listings I'm not
I'm not doing that all right shipping on
these is going to be calculated
each one of these is going to weigh in
the neighborhood of four pounds I
weighed them I know that because of the
length of them they're going to be
longer than what the post office likes
to ship they would charge me out the
Wazoo for these things so I know that
for Melody and I I'm going to ship these
with UPS
when I put these two together if they're
four pounds each and I've got to Pat
them and put a box around them these are
going to come in at 10 pounds and I know
that the lengthwise is probably going to
be closer to 24 inches and by the time I
get these into a box it's probably going
to be 20 by 12.
so let's create a shipping policy
I'm going to call mine UPS larger items
because I'll use post office for almost
everything else
I don't need different texts to help me
identify that and the flat I'm not going
to do flat rate shipping because I don't
know where this one's going to go so I'm
going to go calculated one of the
changes that they've made is they've
removed from your choices here on
economy Services you used to have one
that just said economy shipping one to
ten and it gave you a choice
so I'm gonna put UPS ground on that
and handling time on an item like this I
give myself two days I don't do a
handling cost on top of it for an item
that's 350 if I get what I want I don't
need an additional five dollars for
materials uh international shipping
because it's electrical I don't want to
ship it International so I'm going to
turn that off
you can come here on create an exclusion
list
and I can eliminate Alaska Hawaii U.S
protectors and APO fpo sometimes on
these larger items like this or
electrical items I won't ship outside of
the you know contiguous United States I
I just to try and save myself some
headache but you certainly could so
we're going to click apply
saving clothes and once I've created a
shipping policy then it will be there
whenever I go on to ship another item
and on that one I just put ups larger
item should be very easy for me to find
next time
and there wouldn't be much I would have
to do and that would be a calculated
shipping option so now we've selected if
you look in your list of your shipping
policies it could be that you've got to
exit out of the the listing and then go
back into it for that to show up but
once you've created it it'll be there
the next time you want to do it so UPS
larger items I've got that I've got 10
pounds I've got the approximate package
dimensions in it that should get me very
very close to what it's going to cost me
to ship this to somebody now promote
your listing if you turn this on it's
going to give you an ad rate if you are
selling something that there's a ton of
them for sale and you know you're going
into a highly competitive market
I promote Melody I normally promote it
two percent we have experimented with no
promotion we've done two percent and
we've done High promotions before
but nobody else has lamps like these
there is no point in me paying eBay
extra money to promote this because I'm
not competing with somebody that just
wants a regular lamp now the argument
against that could be that I want this
to show up as often as possible to get
it in front of the right people but on
something like this I don't normally
promote it but I wanted you to know why
okay down here on your preferences uh
eBay payments immediate payment I want
immediate payment I never understood why
anybody would turn that off but if you
watch the auction Professor he sells a
lot of postcards and photographs and he
has a lot of people that over the course
of a day or two can add a bunch of items
and then want to come in and pay and
that makes sense to me I don't get a lot
of that because
I don't know what they're gonna throw in
I've got some hunting gear they could
put in with the lamps but for the most
part I don't get a lot of that kind of
stuff but that's the reason that you
would want to delay immediate payment is
so that you could invoice somebody who
bought a bunch of different items we do
returns accepted and if you click on
that you can see uh buyer pays 30 days
money back International no returns this
is the policy I use 99 of the time what
is important about this as far as why I
accept returns is that if somebody is
willing to lie
they can get a return anyway if they do
item not as described that item is
coming back and there's nothing I can do
about it so if I put no returns
for the most part the only people I'm
penalizing are honest people that just
want some security when they buy from me
my average return rate is under one
percent
you get more when you first start
but it isn't the rule any big time
big time I'm not big time anybody who's
done eBay for any length of time will
tell you that returns suck and you get
some bad ones occasionally and that that
sucks more but it isn't the rule and it
isn't what you're going to be doing all
the time so I do accept returns I've got
my item location this is not for a
charity and then when you finish all of
that you click listed and you'll get a
note that says your listing is now live
and now I have no more draft let's list
the fishing reel which will actually be
easier than the lamps because you're
gonna find other ones so I'm gonna go
down here I'm gonna go create listing so
now we're going to put the same
information in here
and we'll put Abu Garcia
5001 C
and it's right there
and I can pick from one of these
let me tell you why I don't like to copy
somebody else's ad if they made a
mistake anywhere or if they used
terminology that isn't the same as mine
or they included a word that's on the
viral list like velcro or onesie or
something like that I might copy it into
my ad and never see it now a lot of
times I'll copy my own ad and and use
that as a jumping off spawn but for the
most part I'm going to click continue
without a match
and mine is used it is working let's add
those photos in
we're going to click all of these
the people that collect these fishing
reels they know exactly what they're
looking at you need clear pictures so
they know exactly what they're getting
and let me tell you with fishing reels
you don't need a ton of information a
custom skew is I will put that in A1
that's fine Abu Garcia it's a bait
casting reel
you got a bunch of different choices
it's the 5 000 but it's a 5001
and I think the C is what makes it
left-handed so I'll add that in there
it's left hand
I don't know how many ball bearings I'm
not going to answer it fresh water
uh fish species is fresh water
and I don't know that uh you don't have
to have all of this stuff there's no
variations
down here nice used condition
working and that's it that's all I'm
going to put I'm going to do the same
thing here I am going to copy this
I'm going to run it down here
paste that in there
buy it now and I will put 59.99 on that
I'm not going to do minimum offers I
will allow offers I'm not going to
schedule it now I don't want the UPS
this will go first class
it'll be first class over eight ounces
and I'll probably put 15 right here and
I have some eight by eight by eight
boxes I will put that in
I'm not going to promote it because I'm
telling you right now the fishing reel
is is gonna sell they sell quick so I'm
not gonna do that and I will get it
listed and there you go
that's all there is to listing listing's
not too bad if you take pictures in bulk
and you edit them in bulk goes pretty
quick click right here and check out my
entire eBay tutorial list I appreciate
you watching and I'll see you on the
next one bye
