hi this is Alexander Vidkun and in this
video I'm going to share with you
there's three things that you can focus
on as a software development company as
a soccer agency basically to make sure
that you make the most money and to make
sure that you make a lot of money and to
make sure you avoid the most common
mistakes that software companies make
the reason I want to explain this to you
is because most software companies make
this mistake and I see this with my
students they come to me and they say
Alex so I'm focusing on this and I'm
focusing on that and I'm building a
company in a certain way but for some
reason it seems that they can grow it
beyond a hidden barrier a hidden plateau
and they just don't know how to fix it
well after many years we figured out how
to fix it we figured out that they're
focusing on the wrong thing and they
don't know what to focus on or they're
focusing on too much and in this video
I'm going to tell you exactly what those
things are what you can focus on which
business decisions you can make in your
business basically what to focus on and
how does will benefit your business how
you can make more or build a more
successful software development company
like that the way it happened was in the
beginning I was selling websites myself
and when I was selling the websites we
had this idea that of course every
client deserves to be treated like their
King and of course every client needs to
get the best quality website and of
course it needs to be at the best
possible price and that's what
everyone's looking for you were trying
to optimize everything and at a certain
point we figured out that you can really
optimize for everything it's it's
actually not possible to do everything
at the same time if you want to grow
business of a certain size if you want
to be really successful in business it
is possible to just try it and be
average but if you want to be
exceptional you need to do something
else you need to run your business in a
different way that is very
counterintuitive when I made the change
and when I started focusing on the right
things basically you could say magic
happen in my business so my business was
able to grow and I wasn't as stressed
anymore
and I was able to focus on the right
stuff for my clients were happier
referring me other clients that are were
also great clients and so on so I built
a better business as a result so if you
do implement this if you use this in
your business what I'm about to teach
you then your business will be able to
scale better and it'll make a lot more
sense in terms of marketing to your
clients what it is that you're doing and
it'll make more sense to them
to refer you more clients in it in
return so it'll make sense that your
business grows
whereas now there's like this hidden
barrier and it seems like you need to do
everything right to get past the barrier
but in reality this is not the case okay
now if you don't implement this I've
seen people run an agency for five six
years they kind of get burned out
they've been doing the same thing over
and over and things just don't progress
it doesn't feel like they're learning
and their business is growing and this
kind of sucks it's it's sad that people
get stuck in business I don't want you
to get stuck so what are these things
what can you do to grow an agency thick
agency and what things should you focus
on a-deck agency so there's three main
things okay and briefly mentioned them
before so one is time the second one is
quality and the third one is price okay
you can focus on these things in a tech
agency domain these are the main things
in a tech agency so let's look at some
companies and how they focus on each one
of them so in terms of time
let's take examples outside of the tech
industry if you look at McDonald's so
companies like McDonald's do they focus
on quality not really it's kind of
average papery food no offense to
McDonald's just my personal opinion
they're not really focused on quality
they're not even marketing quality at
that much are they focused on price not
particularly I mean I wouldn't call it
cheap but are they focus on time
I would say absolutely so McDonald's is
focused on time you get there and you
get exactly what you ordered super fast
every single time it almost never takes
them longer than a few minutes let's
look at companies that focus on quality
so companies that focus on quality are
most web development tech agencies that
sell web development packages most ones
that charge a lot of money quality can
mean many things for some people
actually speed is quality for other
people the prices quality strangely
enough and yet for other people it's
that how much time and effort was put
into it right usually however quality
does require time and effort as a
general rule if you have this then you
have no time
well you're not focused on time because
you're you need a lot of time basically
to create quality and because you need a
lot of time you cannot focus on quality
eitr
to create quality you need to charge a
high price and you take a lot of time so
that's just most hype and web developing
agencies so let's look at the ones that
are focused on price ones their focus on
price they can really have what most
people would consider quality they can
have this custom-made super amazing
thing that is perfectly designed for
what it what needs to be done they're
more focused on just lowering the dollar
amount that is being paid and it's not
really about time eater so if you focus
on price you sell it for a couple let's
say five hundred dollars or you sell it
for something for two hundred dollars on
Fiverr the price is gonna be great it's
gonna take you several weeks to deliver
even though it's something very small
the quality is gonna be you know
questionable so you can really focus too
much of your time to create quality
because the price is not there so you
can't afford a lot of development time
on it kind of in conclusion here you
can't have all three and agency owners
are trying to get all three for some
reason while this completely not
necessary you can build an agency
especially fake agency on either one of
the three
and be hugely successful it can have it
can be doing millions and millions of
dollars if you do time there needs to be
some kind of urgency built into it it
needs to be some kind of a niche work
it's super critical that it gets on time
that's the best thing in each to do time
if it needs to be quality you're going
to have to sell to high-end clients that
can afford tens of thousands of dollars
hopefully and if it's price you should
develop a machine or create a machine
that's like your business should run it
like a machine so you should be able to
create lots and lots of volume with very
low overhead okay
that way you can compete on low price
most agencies that are kind of with
people starting out they're trying to
combine price and quality and they
usually fail on time not a very good
type of business to run trust me it's
better to focus on one of them so if you
avoid this mistake and you do focus on
one of them it magical things happen
suddenly everything makes sense in your
business and your clients they know
exactly what to expect and what to tell
their co-workers friends and so on what
to expect for your business everything
just makes sense and everything runs in
exactly the same way for every single
project because you know what you're
focusing is and everyone in your team
knows what the focus is it's totally
different environment than everyone's
competing on all three at the same time
it changes the dynamic of the business
completely and depending on which one
you choose you can achieve similar
results in terms of growth but you don't
have to confuse people and just have
this dual personality disorder in your
business that causes loss of profit and
loss of your business essentially here
are some tips to do this write down what
you consider yourself to do now is it
time quality or price be honest here
like are you really charging much less
than your competition or are you really
charging much more actually go out and
compare is it what about the quality
okay we all think we produce quality but
really if you look at the top guys out
there that make the most money can you
compete on quality and in terms of time
are you as fast as someone who can do it
in 48 hours or something like that well
or
depending on the type of project of
course but probably not right like this
this one that's a very special one so
check out what you can compete on and go
full-on like all in on that so if it's
price for example maybe you want to have
a templatized offer where every client
gets more or less the same and it's a
factory setting where there's very
little variability it's the same
templates over and over the same
training for hourly people working on it
or maybe there's no training at all
maybe it's just a tool that does it that
the client kind of manages themselves
and as your business is growing in one
of these maybe you can have a second
business or a second offer that's
totally separated in another one of
these or as an upsell for example so you
do price or time on like up work or in
Fiverr you can have quality just outside
of the platforms to upsell to the
clients for a lot of money so you can
have something relatively easy to liver
or fast or in cheap and then you can
upsell them whatever you need later for
the actual profits suddenly your
business can go from making just low six
figures to actually making seven figures
and beyond once you're established in
doing one of these so that's what I want
