hi Greg arvit I'm from the Silver Queen
one of the most frequently asked
questions we ever get is what is the
difference between pure silver and
sterling silver well the primary
difference is that pure silver is 100
percent silver whereas sterling silver
is only ninety two and a half percent
silver and seven and a half percent
copper this was the industry standard
established by England in the early
1200s and it is still the most common
purity level that you will find today in
most flour and hollower items a question
we do get asked all the time is can I
put my sterling in the dishwasher and
the answer is absolutely yes however
there are a few rules that you'll want
to follow to ensure you get the best
possible outcome the first being we do
not recommend using a lemon or citrus
detergent the second being we do not
recommend letting your stainless and
your sterling go through the same wash
together as there can be a reaction and
the third being we do recommend hand
washing all of your knives due to the
fragility of the hollow handle we do
also recommend that you always just wash
one teaspoon in the beginning to make
sure that all of your stars are aligned
and everything will turn out beautifully
one of the most frequently asked
questions we get here at Silver Queen is
where do we use to polish our silver
Haggerty offers an array of products
that we use here at Silver Queen they've
been around since the 1890s and they are
certified Kosher and made in the USA
Hagerty 100 is a fabulous product if
your item is very tarnished if it's not
so tarnished like this one we recommend
that you use the silver duster or the
silver wash very easy to
and not so time-consuming so next time
you want to polish come to the silver
Queen to see all the products we offer
here with Haggerty silversmiths hi a big
question that we get here at the Silver
Queen is often is my silver real well
that's usually found by looking at your
silver closely I usually take the piece
I turn it upside down and I look for a
mark right there I can see nine-to-five
written right on it it usually says 9 to
5 or sterling silver if it doesn't say
that it's probably silver plate and not
worth a lot but if you're not sure mail
it to us send in a picture of it a
picture of the marking as close as you
can get and we're gonna identify it for
you the good news is even if it's not
worth a million dollars
at least we're gonna help you identify
it the final question you may be asking
yourself is where do I sell my silver
well we always recommend a place that
has been a business for quite some time
and fortunately for you we've been in
business for almost 50 years we have a
local presence so if you're in the Tampa
Bay area bring your silverware in for a
free offer you'll never hear those words
what do you want for it we'll make you a
fair offer if you're out of a state or
out of the area feel free to go to our
website login to sell to us and fill out
a form and we'll be glad to make a fair
offer you just have to fill pictures of
what you have a list of what you may
want to sell and also keep in mind it's
always free and there's no obligation I
hope this helps
