i think one of the topics that
isn't really discussed a lot when it
comes to
visiting a coin shop is etiquette yeah
and how uh people should conduct
themselves within the coin store because
there really are some do's and don'ts

what's happening uh couple things
first of all i want to say thank you for
uh
promoting me look at that looks great
i've made it in there
yeah awesome that's the first edition
everybody so
first edition and is this for sale it is
for sale actually
you said you wanted to sell for 400
bucks i'm like 150 bucks is my goal
people would give it to you out of pity
listen you made the magazine man
i know front cover too that's that's
pretty awesome i didn't expect that
phenomenal man let me grab the one off
my desk hold on all right we gotta get
we gotta get this one off your desk

he's so personal the very first one
to steven i love you stormy
here it is the super duper boom in the
magazine right up
look at that that's pretty cool so and
the cool thing was
that you found the wolverine errors with
me that's right yeah i feel like i was
part of that we kind of found it
i believe we were like the first two to
know about it you me and then one of my
subscribers paulie buck we were the
first three
he notified me and then i was like dude
we're sitting on some gold here yeah it
was awesome so i got mine on ebay for a
stupid number but now that i think it's
in a magazine everybody's gonna have one
i think so we know that there's uh less
than 400 in existence out there
yeah our guesses are probably less than
that oh yeah because that's just an
estimated number from the perthman right
yep and so to my point too i think only
like 65 i think really have
surfaced i know that i was telling you
my subscriber paulie bucky has two
i had like the 16 or 18 your two that
that makes
you know a tube there so that's 22 plus
guido and a couple other friends doa and
husky they had a two beach that's like
62 or 16.
we know about mid 60s or so that we know
of and that's really about it so where
the other ones are
who knows yeah that's going to be one of
them things that somebody's going to
have them and they're going to have no
idea
i think they're in the bottom of
somebody's people's closets and
collections they just have no idea what
they're sitting on yeah very likely
so let me ask you something now shifting
gears okay
uh i've been in your store many many
times
and uh i think one of

themselves within the coin store because
there really are some do's and don'ts
and i've noticed a couple things when
people come in here
and i almost scratch my head but you
know this is your store so i let you
handle it but there's been a couple
times where i'm just like what the hell
is wrong with that person
yeah there's a few big ones right so all
right so you got people coming in here
buying and selling right so the
the very last thing that people want is
and and
you got to keep in mind that a lot of
people are private yeah they don't want
their business to be known to the rest
of the world
so they come in here i have people come
in here only when there's nobody else in
here
um but when you're selling something at
a coin shop you go to a store
the last thing that you want to do um or
have somebody do
is come over to you and hawk your stuff
that you haven't even sold yet okay
uh so i was just telling stormy the
other day
we were doing a big collection of
baseball cards
i have a guru that comes in that looks
them over the guy knows everything that
he sent them about baseball cards
and comic books and uh so one of my
better clients came in here he has a
very extensive collection
very high end real expensive stuff
i had just completed a sale with a
regular and he meanders on over to where
the sale was taking place and he's
sitting there and he's just
he's literally standing right over just
just standing there
and he wasn't invited and i i kind of
had to like
explain to him i'm like dude this is you
can't do that it's
not it's not your stuff you know that's
like if you went to
like a car dealership and there's like
customers
and the sales person conducting a deal
and then just some random person just
stands there and is just like
watching and it's bizarre it would be
like going over to another salesperson
booth and just hanging out and saying
what kind of deal are you getting over
right
you know what i mean it's just right
everything about it is just wrong right
so uh i could i could make one i could
think of two
that might be even bigger that okay
how about this how about have has this
ever happened where
you were here making a sale
or possibly even a purchase from one
person
and then have another customer step in
and say
oh you know i have some of those for
even less
yes like they undercut you right in
front of you
thrown out on my shop very quickly
obviously
you know i don't think a lot of people
consider the fact that right if i'm
selling something
you know i have a brick and mortar store
here and you know there's certain
limitations that i'm willing to do or
i'm willing to come down on the price
but obviously i'm here to make money
so you know of course you might have one
sitting in your safe that you haven't
looked at in five years and you have no
love for it
you know and say you know what i would
probably sell mine for cheaper than that
but you also have to consider the sales
person or the person who owns a store
right there's a lot too there's a lot of
moving parts a lot of things
um but yeah that would that would be a
bad bad deal that would
be very angry very quickly with you oh
yeah yeah it's and
i've had experiences like that but i'm
virtual right so all my stuff i'm doing
basically online on youtube and
and there have been people that have
popped into the chat and have said
whoa whoa you're spending x amount on
that coin i could sell it for five
dollars
and then all my moderators like security
guards they just grab they bounce them
they
they block that's it they're gone so
there's so that's the one so
definitely i would say put that at the
top of the list of just no-no's don't do
that don't go and
undercut you never want to play it right
where the deal is being made
it's private you stay away from that you
let the the salesperson or the owner
whoever is doing the business
you leave that to them that's really not
in your business you should stay away
from that respectfully
um stay in your own zone if you will um
another big one too is i run into all
the time this is kind of a little pet
peeve of mine
many of my items have price tags on them
um when you repeatedly ask me how much
something is when there's a price tag on
it
i find that very frustrating yeah i'm
gonna i'm gonna have less and less time
for you as you do that
right um it's just it's an annoying
thing for me especially when you have
seven people in here and they're asking
you
hey how much is this item how much is
that up and then the price is right
there yeah yes you're not looking
it's very frustrating that happens a lot
with the younger collectors
sure and i usually try to give them a
little more rope because we do
we appreciate the younger collectors and
we try to spend more time we're
definitely more patient with them right
but we do point it out to them
right so that's another little pet peeve
i have i have i have
so the other one that i thought was
maybe a big one and i i haven't seen
this happen in your store but i'm just
curious and i've had
some people ask me if this is okay to do
and i tell i've told them no
it's not what would your now you've got
the xrf but
pretend that you don't have the xrf here
there you go okay if somebody came in
here
and said oh can i take a look at this
coin can i take a look at that coin
right let's say they
want this ase and then you hand it to
them
and then what if they took out like a
sigma of their own and start testing
your stuff
it's almost as if they're like implying
that you have fake
stuff for sale like what is your thought
that's kind of a gray area right so
i guess i would probably weigh you know
what kind of a client they are
i'm doing a lot of business with them
and that type of stuff and i know that
that's the kind of stuff that if i'm
prepared for i guess
i don't feel like that would be too bad
it would be awkward but i don't feel
like i would say hey
that's not cool right um because then
you're kind of to me i would be throwing
up a red flag saying maybe it is fake
um that is the reason we have the xrf
here yeah i have people come in
off the street just to check coins and i
normally do that as a courtesy so
that that kind of negates that whole
issue whether
it's real or not because again many
times i get asked
hey you know before i had the extra rep
to like if i'm buying a gold coin from
you how do i know that this is real
right a damn good question you know when
you're spending that kind of money on a
gold coin
um you know you want you want to have
the confidence that it's real and
back in the day i could say you know
because i'm a coin shop owner we're
reputable we're here for a reason we're
gonna be here for a long time
that used to be good enough but in
today's world in today's society
um you know trust is not really there
sure so you know to be able to show them
real time is
is a confidence builder in itself so
again we kind of negated that whole
issue
right uh whether it's real or not see so
i and i would have thought too that that
would have
been a no-no but i could see what you're
saying like it's not like the end of the
world if they were to do that and if
that's
you know i think that's gonna be a
personal thing from shop owner to shop
owner
um and i i'd be i would be awkward about
it
but i think that i would say hey uh
right you know not not cool i don't
think i would do that
okay here's another question i have for
you when it comes to negotiations
okay let's just say when they're looking
to buy from you not so much because i
know from your standpoint
if somebody comes in here to make us
like to sell you their items
i know there it's to be expected that
there's gonna be back and forth you're
gonna say look i can only offer you x
and they'll say well can you come up a
little bit blah blah blah but the other
way around
i know you have your items you have a
certain amount
in each of them if somebody comes over
here and they're like how much for
this particular coin and you give them a
price
yeah well how much would it bother you
if they start trying to haggle you down
it'll bother me if if it goes on for any
length of time
um i work real close to the numbers i
take a lot of time to explain to my
clients why i have that number
you know what i mean probably above and
beyond what i'd say most people would do
um there's not a lot of room in it for
me there generally isn't because i work
very close
yeah um high volume you know right and
then you got to understand something as
a shop owner if any
if something came in in a collection um
and
and maybe i did overlook it and i i
don't try to make that happen but of
course if you have
thousands of coins as possible that you
may overlook might be a little more
cream in it for me
listen this is how i keep my bills paid
this is how
i keep my home this is how i keep things
that's the gravy for me
right um you know in a case like that if
i got a piece or a little bit better
break or maybe the market
went way up on that particular item
since i owned it that's another
possibility
right um you know then i'll work with
you some
but if you continually hammer me all the
time i'm gonna have less and less
sure you know a classic tactic is i'm
just gonna start responding with higher
numbers instead of going down i'm gonna
start going off
right you know so right it just makes
sense so much time and energy
for that kind of stuff yeah let me and
what about
and i've been here for this too when
kids
when parents come in here and they don't
really keep their kids
on a tight enough leash and you do have
some
valuable things like on display and you
know i
i kind of get nervous if any of those
like vases get smashed or whatever like
or you've got the glass cabinets behind
me
you know what are your thoughts on on
the parents that come in here and are
kind of aloof to the kids
just running around right so so far so
good no nothing has been broken
whatever have you yes there's been a
couple of close calls
uh but yeah i mean i would i would
prefer obviously if they would try to
you know reign their kids in a little
bit more again we deal with a lot of the
younger clientele it's to be expected i
guess on some levels
um i have my own kids i'm a pretty
patient guy you're a lot more patient
with my kids than i am yeah we try not
to kill them so
uh they're still alive but they still
like us so that's a good thing right
uh it depends on the day yeah right
that's well true
but uh yeah so i mean i think it's been
okay so far yes i would like it if your
parents i mean
everybody would appreciate it sure uh
you know with well-behaved kids but i
think well-behaved and
children are sort of an oxymoron yeah
they're all going to have their moments
oh yeah
um and i'm trying to think of any other
do you have any other
things that people should or shouldn't
do
i i also think like a lot of the people
that come in here i've
been here many times people just come in
they don't have
any idea as to what it is they're
looking for they're just looking to
browse no problem you're here to help
educate them yeah absolutely
um but would you agree does it help to
some extent if
people are looking to either sell or buy
a particular item that they have at
least done
some of their research or i always
appreciate it when they do yeah
the educated uh customer is always
better for me because they
they know what they're talking about a
lot less explaining to me they
understand what the market is
or at least they understand what it is
that they have that's always better for
me
um the one thing in this kind of area
that i would say is
if you're the kind of person that's
shopping a piece around and you've come
into my store
maybe four or five times and say hey how
much can i get for this and we've never
made a deal
i'm gonna find a lot less time for you
right a lot less right likely i'm not
even going to get out of my chair yeah
dude
don't waste your time that have come in
here and asked me how much i could buy
this piece for
um four or five times
and usually after about the third or
fourth time i'm done with that
i'm not going to get out of my seat
because what do you say to do business
what do you say to them
i just talk i usually tell them that's
not for me okay you know i mean you're
nice about especially
um i haven't had to get rough with
anybody yet but uh they usually get the
point
yeah all right that makes sense too um
you know if i think of any other pet
peeves or things like i'm just going off
of the things that i've
witnessed and i'm always interested to
see how you
react to them and you're actually you
know very nice very patient you know
yeah you know i uh
and i do from on occasion do get the
questions from my subscribers and
you know as those questions come in i'll
definitely bring those forward to you as
well
yeah we appreciate that oh of course and
um you know like always you know any of
these videos i do with you i'm posting

they sold out they were gone yeah they
were they that's usually what happens
this is a high-paced high-volume type of
shop
a lot of times these things don't stick
around long so if you're thinking about
it get on the phone make that
call because normally i won't have stuff
very long cool
