so a few weeks ago i bought three pairs
of air jordan 4
fire reds from goat stockx and ebay and
the reason i did that was because i
wanted to conduct an experiment to find
out which one of those three services
was the best for buying sneakers but now
i'm stuck with three dead stock pairs of
firehead fours which i really don't need
so i had a thought what if i resell all
of these sneakers on the apps that i
bought them from and find out which
service is best for selling your
sneakers i mean hopefully all the
sneakers that they sent me were
authentic so they re-pass
authentication but i'd also like to know
which service is the best which one's
the fastest and which one gets you paid
the soonest
what's up everybody i'm seth fowler and
today we're finding out where is the
best place to sell your sneakers online
right out of the gate though if you
haven't seen the first video in this
series yet make sure to check it out by
clicking the link at the top of the
screen or in the top of the description
below because that'll kind of give this
video some context and actually i should
say that just like in the first video
this video is not sponsored in any way
by anybody this video is just me
conducting my own personal experiment to
see which one of these services works
best i mean obviously this experiment
isn't like a definitive indicator of
which service is best but
i just want to see what happens when i
sell back these three shoes that are all
exactly the same
and speaking of that the shoes that
we're selling back to goats stockx and
ebay are the 2020 air jordan 4
fire reds they're all brand new they're
all dead stock and they all came from
those services the reason i went with
three pairs of the exact same shoe in
the exact same size
is because i wanted to limit the
variables between each one of these
services
and i also wanted to find out which site
had the best price overall and which one
paid you the quickest
i'm gonna try and sell all three of
these shoes at the exact same time or as
close to the same time as i possibly can
and because of that i'm gonna use buy it
now features or sell it now features so
on ebay i'm gonna have these listed at
the lowest price with the buy it now
button
on stockx i'm just gonna sell them to
the highest bidder and same thing with
goat i'm gonna sell them to the highest
bidder so just as a quick refresher in
case you missed the first video
the websites that i'm using to sell
these sneakers on are ebay goat and
stockx so the way that these services
work is essentially just like a
middleman and they also provide the
marketplace to buy and sell the sneakers
when a seller in this case me
sells their sneaker through one of these
websites they then ship their sneaker to
the website or to the website's
warehouse to be authenticated once the
service authenticates the sneaker they
then ship the sneaker off to the buyer
themselves and not directly from the
seller
that way in theory the buyer should be
guaranteed that they're getting an
authentic sneaker because it went
through a middleman first
not only that but these websites also
give you a much larger selection so you
should be able to find the size and the
shoe that you're looking for a lot
faster on these websites than you could
through like
facebook marketplace and like i said in
the first video the reason that i picked
ebay stockx and goat is because they all
offer similar services and they're
pretty much the biggest in the game so
the first place i'm gonna list the first
pair of firehead fours on is stockx and
of course
i'm going to use the pair that i got
from stockx and i also want to take out
all the stockx like
stickers and stuff so they don't know
it's from them all right i also have to
cut off the stockx tag as well okay so
now that this pair looks just like any
other pair of firehead fours
let's list it on stockx however there is
one problem and that's that my stockx
account is a tier 4 account which
essentially means that because i've sold
so many sneakers on stockx
i get better sellers fees i get instant
payout and i feel like that wouldn't
really be a fair assessment of the
website if i sold it through my account
so instead what i'm gonna do is call my
friend osman and have it listed on his
account which is a normal level one
account
yo what's good dude that much
are you down to listen fire red fours
yeah do you want me to screen record or
no
yeah if you could screen record it
that'd be sick so from what i can see on
the stockx page is that right now the
highest bid for a size nine is 250 but i
don't actually know what my payout would
be because i didn't check it
how much does the cell now pay out for a
size nine
250 250 what's it after like fees and
shipping and stuff
could you sell them on your page and
then send me the the ups thing
awesome okay so the payout for a brand
new pair of fire ed fours on stockx into
size nine
is 218 bucks even though it says 250 but
that's because stockx is taking out
their own personal fees and also the
shipping fees
okay if i sold it on my account i would
have only gotten 221.25
however i would have gotten instant
payout so i guess that's a plus but
we'll just have to wait and see how long
it takes for them to actually pay me on
osmond's account so literally right
after
i got off the phone with osman he
actually just let me know that
apparently stockx had updated the payout
from 218
to 227.50 i'm not sure exactly why that
is and if you look at the screen
recording that he did
it actually instantly goes to 227.50 i'm
not sure why they showed us 218 first
and then 227.
it doesn't really make sense but hey you
know what i'm not mad at 10 more bucks
okay so the next service that we're
going to sell on is goat and of course
i've got my pair from goat right here
i'm going to pull out the goat sticker i
think i left this in so i would know
which pair this was but i think i've
already taken out the receipt
so on goat the selling process is a
little bit different and that's because
they actually require you to take
pictures of the shoes before you sell
them which to be honest
is kind of a hassle for the seller but
at the same time it's definitely better
for the buyer because scott is
immediately able to tell if something is
real or fake just from pictures
and then double check it when they
actually get it in person so the seller
now price is actually 280 which is great
that's 30
higher than stockx but really quickly
let me take some pictures of the shoes
first off it says take a picture of the
sneaker tag on the inside
it's actually kind of a pain to get this
tag but hey it's a good thing again
better chance at making sure that she
was authentic so that's always a plus
it's ridiculous i hope i'm not damaging
the shoe by doing this i'm gonna do it
upside down there's a picture of the tag
now it says take a picture of the shoes
next to each other flat on the ground
okay so according to my goat sales
receipt it looks like after fees i'm
making 248 dollars and 40 cents
that's a whole 20 over stockx let me
just double check that i don't have any
sort of special rates on goat because
i'm not sure i have sold on guilt but
really not that much so i didn't think
that i did but
just to make sure so 9.5 plus five
dollars that's just the standard fee for
the united states
okay i'm actually surprised by that okay
so i've sold back both sneakers to
stockx and goat
now it's on to ebay so here's my ebay
pair the one thing i think might
actually give it away to goat and ebay
is that they actually put their own
little tag right there
so they might already know that these
shoes have been sold through their
service which is
kind of a bummer but it is what it is
actually you know what i think i'm gonna
pull off these tags just so that there's
just no evidence at all that these were
sold through their service
the other thing about ebay sneakers is
that because they're authenticated by
ebay which is
actually really sneaker con
authenticating shout out to sneakercon
they come with this uh
this ebay tag that you can actually scan
with your phone now this tag is
connected with a metal wire which is
kind of a pain to cut off and of course
i'm going to cut it off for the video
but i do want to show you guys one
feature so this feature is pretty cool
you can actually tap the nfc tag with
your phone
and it pulls up a page that shows that
your sneaker was in fact authenticated
and the one thing i noticed about this
is that they actually give you an option
to re-list your sneakers
right there at the bottom so i might
actually try that just to see how it
works so this is actually really cool it
repopulates the ebay page for you so you
don't have to fill out all this
information
and then you just have to add photos of
the shoe it does say that the starting
bid for an auction is recommended at 143
i'm not going to do that average sale
price 240. let me see what it is if i do
it buy it now
so the recommended buy it now price is
240 it looks like so i really want to
sell these very quickly so what i'm
gonna do
is i think list them at 239.99 which i
know is the lowest price but
the problem with ebay is that you can't
sell them immediately like you can with
stockx and goat so to be honest that
does kind of feel like a disadvantage
however because it's ebay you could list
this at a higher price
and have better pictures and a better
title and better description and people
would feel more comfortable buying from
you than from someone with a lower price
so i guess it's kind of a balance do you
want to sell your shoes very
quickly at a cheaper price or do you
want to sell them for a little bit more
with a little bit more time put into the
listing it really is up to you now
purely for the purposes of this video
i'm going to sell them at 239.99 just so
that we can see shipping times and
payment times and things like that
and then also the shipping i'm just
gonna go with the recommended shipping
which is usps which
as you guys might have seen in the first
video kind of screwed over the seller
of this shoe but it is what it is so
really quick let me cut off this tag
actually come to think of it i'm
interested to see what ebay does with
the tag off now that i've
relisted the shoes with the same like id
number so really quick i'm gonna go take
some pictures of this shoe
and we'll get it listed oh and actually
before i forget i think as of right now
january 2021 ebay is not charging for
their authentication service
i think in the future they will start
charging i'm not sure exactly what the
percentage will be for that but
expect it to be something similar to
stockx and go okay so now the ebay
listing is posted
it is 2pm on tuesday january 12
2021. i think it took about 20 minutes
to get all the different listings posted
so
everything should be live now and we
should be good to go but because stockx
and goat were sell it now options i'm
actually ready to ship these
so i'm gonna pack these up take them to
the ups store and then find out when
this ebay pair of shoes
let's do this
[Music]
so i just checked my phone while i was
packing these shoes and it turns out
people have been sending me a ton of
different offers on ebay
no one's actually bought it for the full
buy it now price of 239.99
people have been offering me a ton of
different things like 200 bucks which
i've denied
210 230 but none for 239 or even 238 for
that matter so
we'll see what happens but as of right
now 30 minutes after i've listed the
shoes
we've got about five different offers
which is not terrible
okay so the stockx pair is good to go
the goat pair is good to go
i'm gonna head to ups drop these off and
then i will let you guys know as soon as
the pair sells on ebay
also speaking of vps if you guys ever
want to send me anything i've left my
ups box address in the description below
okay so packages are dropped off i think
it's what 255
last time i checked and i've got a
couple offers on ebay that are newer
like one for 234 which is
what like six bucks less than what i was
asking for i maybe should have taken it
um i came back with like a 237 uh but
we'll just see what happens i probably
should have just taken 234 i don't know
okay so i'm just leaving the post office
i ended up selling the shoes about
30 minutes after i left ups and they
ended up selling for 237
plus 9.20 shipping and what i ended up
doing was actually shipping it through
ebay or at least buying the shipping
label through ebay and they give you a
discount so it ended up only costing me
eight dollars and four cents to ship it
and apparently as of right now there's
no sellers fees for shipping shoes
through their authentication service so
i'm sure that's gonna change in the very
near future but i pretty much got
all my money for it which is kind of
crazy
okay so it's about 10 days after we
first started and about two days ago the
last of the three services
finally authenticated the last pair of
sneakers i actually would have recorded
this segment a little bit earlier but
i've just been really busy with uh
well youtube i guess so because of that
i haven't been able to uh to finally sit
down and record it but today on january
21st 2021 we're finally able to sit down
and i can give you guys
all the results so let's just go in the
same order that we did when we were
selling the sneakers earlier in the
video and start with stockx go to goat
and then go to ebay so if you remember
from a couple minutes back or i guess
for me a couple weeks ago
the sale with stockx was a little bit
weird we thought we were selling the
sneakers for 250 and that the payout
would be 218
but then when we actually sold them we
got a payout of 227 which would mean
that
it would have to have sold for 260. and
apparently that's exactly what happened
someone must have put in a bid for 260
right when we were clicking the sell
button on the cell page so because of
that stockx automatically gave us a
payout for 260 and we sold the sneakers
for 260. but it was
definitely a weird thing to happen and
that's never happened to me before all
that aside just to go over really
quickly what we ended up selling them
for
we sold them for 260 or at least
accepted a bid for 260.
there was a 27.70 stockx transaction fee
and shipping was 7.80 leaving us with a
payout of 227.50
then minutes later stockx sent over the
ups shipping label and the packing
information i packed up all the shoes
and shipped
them out at ups the same day which was
january 12th so i was following along
with the progress through osman's stockx
account and it looks like ups delivered
the shoes to stockx on january 14th
which was two days
and then they were verified the next day
on january 15th and of course because
stockx verified the shoes on january
15th they ended up sending out the
payout on the same day i think like
minutes after they verified the shoes so
that was stockx it was pretty much par
for the course it was a very easy
transaction
and i didn't really have any issues
other than that weird selling bug in the
beginning where i sold the shoes for i
guess more than i wanted to sell them
for which is not a bad thing
next up we had goat which if you guys
remember from the first video was
actually probably the best out of the
three services when it comes to buying
sneakers like with stockx i ended up
taking the highest bid
for the fire red fours on goat and the
highest bid was actually 20
higher on goat than it was on stockx the
highest bid was 280 bucks now goad's
fees were similar to stockx but a little
bit lower by i think like two or three
bucks when you sell on goat there's a
standard nine point five percent fee as
well as a standard five dollar fee
and when all was said and done i think
the fees were thirty one dollars and
sixty cents so the overall payout that i
received on goat was 248 dollars and
forty cents which is
almost exactly twenty dollars more than
stockx again just to clarify that's
because i sold the shoes for 20
more but the price was better on goat
okay so hold up i'm actually editing
this video right now and i realize that
there's one other fee with goat that i
just didn't even think about and didn't
even realize until i transferred the
money from goat
to paypal and that fee is the paypal
processing fee which is
actually the second fee that stockx
charges i didn't even realize that was a
case until i was editing the video but
when you sell on goat you have the
option to either use the money that you
made on goat to buy more sneakers or
transfer it to paypal and whenever you
decide to transfer the money to paypal
paypal actually takes a 3 processing fee
so what that means is that instead of
making 248.40
after the 3 processing fee when i
transferred the money to paypal
i only actually made 241 dollars and 20
cents from goat so if you do decide to
transfer the money from goat to paypal
it seems like stockx actually has better
fees than goat because stockx doesn't
charge you shipping i know it's only a
three percent fee and not everyone will
get that fee because some people will
just buy more sneakers on goat but
i just thought it was important to
mention because this video is all about
how much you make on these sites
shipping to goat was the same process as
stockx they emailed me a prepaid
shipping label they also emailed me some
shipping instructions
i ended up taking it to ups at the same
exact time i took the sockex package now
what's interesting about goat is that
they actually received the package a day
before stockx on january 13th now to be
fair i wouldn't be surprised if that's
because goat's warehouse is just closer
geographically to me than stockx's is
but
it's kind of interesting and because of
that they also verified the shoes and
sent me out my payout a whole day
earlier so to be honest that was
actually a really big plus for me
because i got paid two days after i sold
the shoes
rather than with stockx where i got paid
three days after and then finally we
move on to ebay and i ended up taking
the highest bid of 237
even which was about three dollars less
than what i was originally asking now
the big plus about ebay is that the
buyer actually has to pay
first before you ship out the shoes so
you're paid almost immediately and of
course the buyer also pays for shipping
so they ended up paying me 237
plus 9.20 for shipping and like i
mentioned earlier right now ebay isn't
taking any fees for their authentication
service i'm sure that's going to change
in the very near future but
right now they're definitely the
cheapest when it comes to fees because
they don't have any so i ended up buying
shipping through ebay and paypal which
ended up being i think only eight
dollars and four cents so i technically
made
about a dollar off of the shipping fee
and then i just packed up the shoes and
took them down to the post office it was
already labeled so i just left them on
the counter
technically at this point as a seller
i'm good to go because i know my shoes
are authentic i know they're gonna pass
verification and i've already been paid
and that'll happen within like a couple
hours of just listing the shoes so if
you're trying to get your money as
quickly as possible
ebay might be the way to go however
because i was tracking the whole process
usps is obviously significantly slower
than ups and because of that
the shoes were shipped on january 12th
and didn't even end up at ebay's
authentication services
until january 17th so that right there
is like five days of shipping versus
stockx
and goats like one to two days so that's
already kind of a disadvantage
especially if you're a buyer and then
once they were delivered to ebay's
authentication service it took about two
days for them to be authenticated and
they were shipped off to the buyer
through fedex on january 19th so that's
really how it all played out and i think
there's definitely distinct advantages
and some disadvantages to each service i
guess i should probably do a pros and
cons list like i did in the first video
because that would really tie everything
together so why don't we do that so
starting off with stockx i guess the
pros are it's a pretty streamlined and
easy to use service
everyone's familiar with stockx everyone
knows how their service works
and because of that it works pretty
smoothly payout was fine it came within
three days so it was pretty much exactly
what i expected and overall
it was fine the only con that i had and
that's definitely specific to the shoe
that we were selling is that stockx
actually ended up paying me the least
because as of right now ebay doesn't
have any authentication fees
even though i sold the shoe for less
money on ebay i made the least on stockx
but again in the future when ebay
actually implements those fees things
will probably be different
then moving on to goat i think overall i
had the best seller experience
the pros were that i got by far the best
price i sold the shoes for 280 i got
around 248 dollars for them overall
after fees which was
by far the most profit shipping was very
quick and because of that they paid
incredibly quickly i had my money within
two days and the shoes were gone and off
and i was done with them
as far as cons go i didn't really have
any i know people have had bad
experiences with all these services in
the past but
so far using goat for a couple years
i've never had an issue and then finally
moving on to ebay i had a pretty
neutral experience the pros for ebay
were that i got paid instantly and as of
right now there are no seller services
so even though i sold the shoes for the
least amount of money i still made the
second most amount of money there
weren't a lot of cons but the two cons
that i found were that one their
shipping was slower than all the other
shipping because
it was usps versus ups and the second
con was that as of right now you can
only sell
two different brands through their
sneaker authentication service which are
jordan sneakers over 200 bucks
and yeezy sneakers over 200 bucks
they're really not major cons if you're
selling jordans or yeezys and the
shipping really doesn't affect the
seller at all and
the fact that they pay out instantly is
definitely a big plus but i guess if i
had to pick one of these services as the
winner as the best place to sell your
sneakers online
i'd probably have to go with goat goat
selling process was just very easy and
streamlined dropping off your shoes at
ups was super easy to do
and you got paid out very very quickly i
mean overall all the services worked
fine
stockx is great if you have a good
seller's account stick with stockx
go was awesome i had no issues
whatsoever and ebay pays you out
instantly
and you can really get whatever price
you want by just listing better photos i
would just say use a service that's best
for you i use
all three and it really just depends on
the price that i'm getting for the
sneakers that i'm selling
but now i would love to know your
thoughts on all three of these services
and which service you use the most for
selling your sneakers so make sure to
let me know in the comment section
down below and as always thank you so
