what's going on guys welcome back to
another video for anyone that's new here
my name is dalton what i do is i resell
gently used to new shoes on platforms
like poshmark mercari and ebay
and what i do with this channel is show
you guys exactly how i do what i do so
hopefully you can see the same success
in today's video we're going to talk
about what i think is the most important
aspect
of reselling anything and that is
photography
it's definitely been proven that an item
that has a better picture is going to
stand out more when people are scrolling
through the listings
to find what they're looking for and you
can not only sell through faster but
demand a higher price
so i think this is the first thing you
really need to master when you get into
selling whatever it is that you're
selling and definitely the most
important part about
photography is going to be the lighting
i use a very basic setup
as far as the actual lighting goes i
just get these led
daylight bulbs from walmart you just
need to make sure that they're daylight
instead of the
soft white that you normally get for
your house those give off a
a yellow tint and you don't want that in
your photos and then to hold the lights
i use these clamp lamps that i got on
amazon you can get a
set of two for like 15 or you can find
them at goodwill sometimes or if you
don't want to get one of these you can
use a regular lamp from around your
house just put the daylight bulbs in it
and put it right over your
photo setup and then what i do with
these is i just clamp them onto a basic
camera tripod i've picked up several of
these from goodwill
you can find you can always find these
for a couple bucks at a local thrift
store
and the lamp just clamps right on top
just like that now as far as your
background goes
as you can see behind me i prefer to use
the wood look you can really use
whatever you want a lot of people use a
white background some people use wood
some
some people use like tile or ceramic or
whatever
i just personally prefer the wood look
go with it whatever it is that you like
just make sure that if you go with the
white background you figure out how to
make it nice
and crispy i used to use the white
background and looking back on the
pictures that i took back then
the white wasn't a perfect white it
didn't so i didn't really like the way
the pictures looked and i feel like when
i upgraded to a wood background
it helped my picture stand out a whole
lot better and i think that it's in my
personal opinion
it's the best way to go now as for
photographing shoes which what the
which is what this video is specifically
about um the one thing you need to pick
up is something to
stuff the shoe to give it the appearance
of being on someone's foot
the best method is to use these shoe
trees you can pick these up at
on amazon for like 10 bucks you can also
if you live next to an ikea you can find
them for only a couple bucks there
but if you don't have these you can just
use socks or bubble wrap or
packing paper whatever you want to just
stuff into the shoe to make it full
so it appears as it would on someone's
foot so now that we've gone over the
actual
uh photography setup i'm gonna jump over
here i'm gonna show you the eight
angles that i use to photograph the
shoes before i list them onto
the platforms to sell all right so i'm
gonna plug my phone up up here so you
guys can see
the angles that i'm using to take the
photos as i'm taking them
um the one thing that you really need to
do is make sure that you take it
in the square setting on your phone
it formats the best into the several
platforms so you don't have to go in and
crop
after you take each of the pictures so
as for the the cover photo the first
picture
this is the one that i like to use um
just the side of
the first shoe and i know some people
take their photos like down here
i personally don't like this look i like
i like to go about eye level
and as far as the business card goes i
think it just adds a little
uh professional touch i don't know if
this actually helps cells or anything
but
in my eyes i know a lot of other people
do it as well i think it just
adds a little bit more security when the
buyers are scrolling through the
photos it just makes your your listing
seem a little bit more professional
but that's completely up to you whether
you want to use one or not
and then for the second picture i get it
from the front
and third picture is like the first one
except opposite and then as far as the
back of the shoes go i like to put in
this angle so you can see any heel drag
down here
if there is any next i get the inside of
the shoe
then i take one from the top and then
one from the bottom to show the tread
get a picture of the size tag
and whenever you're photographing the
size tag make sure your fingers aren't
in the picture
um i don't i just don't think it looks
very very clean and professional
when your finger is sticking in there
holding the uh size tag in place
if you need something to hold it up i i
just use this little pick um you can
just use a pencil or something just
stick it in there and
hold the size tag up i think that looks
a lot better than your finger in the
picture
so that's the eight angles that i use
i'll scroll through them once again
one more time for you and the reason i
use eight pictures is because originally
on poshmark and mercari they'd only
allow up to eight pictures ebay was
always
up to 12 but now that poshmark and
mercari have changed their settings to
where now you can add up to 12 on those
platforms as well
i'll use the extra photo spaces if
there's any defects that i need to
point out i'll use those extra photos to
really zoom in on whatever defect there
is that i need to mentioned in the
listing
but if you'd like you can take even more
photos just make sure that you're
showing every angle of the shoe so the
buyer knows exactly what they're getting
before they get it because that's really
the main goal of the photos you need to
make sure that every angle is well lit
photographed so the buyer doesn't have
to ask many questions it's very clear
what they're buying so they can go ahead
and have the confidence to purchase what
they're
looking for without asking for any
further information so i hope this video
was helpful to some of you if you have
any questions at all please leave them
down in the comments below
