what's going on guys welcome back to
another video in this video specifically
we're gonna be showing you guys how to
buy and sell stocks during pre market or
after-hours trading using thinkorswim
platform so let's get into sharing the
screen alright
right now we're looking at the S&P 500
spyder etf so for those of you that want
to trade pre or after-hours trading on
thinkorswim there's something that you
need to do to your orders in order to
make sure they go through pre market and
after-hours trading there is nothing
unique or special that you really have
to do in terms of your account most
everybody's account is eligible for pre
or post market trading there's really no
requirement there you know maybe if
you're on a cash account or something
but generally speaking if you're trading
on thinkorswim you have the eligibility
to trade pre or in after-hours trading
in the way you do it is by changing what
type of order you're actually using so
if I wanted to trade and let's just say
the SP here today pre market I went in
to buy it would not go through so what
you need to do is here on your active
trader window you open up your active
trader window and you're gonna go to
this gear icon once you go to the gear
icon it will bring up these category
boxes from here you want to be on the
left box where it says available items
under available items you scroll down to
where it says TI f you click TI f you
hit add items okay and now you can see
right here we have ti f4 de give me just
a couple seconds here I want to add my
drawing tools on the screen okay so we
have TI F right excuse me right here
that's what you want once you go into
the gear icon you add you'll have TI F
what you need to do if it were pre
market trading you would need to change
this day to GTC
x/t what that stands for is good till
cancelled and extended hours trading
meaning if you want to trade pre or post
market trading or after-hours what you
need to do is add this little category
called TI F to your active trader window
and you need to categorize it as GTC EXT
and that stands for a good till
cancelled or extended after-hours
pre-market trading extended our trading
once you classify your order as GTC EXT
you are now able to trade pre market and
after-hours trading in all orders that
go through pre market and after-hours
trading have to be done using a limit
order so again to trade pre market and
after-hours trading use your active
trader window enter to the gear icon
from there you ad TI F category and then
from there you will make it GGC ext when
it's pre market or after-hours and then
you would use a limit order to enter
your trade and it's simple as that so I
hope that helps you guys and I hope you
