many people talk about email marketing
as if it's the secret to success as a
creative business owner that's not
entirely wrong email can do amazing
things for your business like sell
online courses book your freelance
services and drive lots of traffic to
your store but the biggest challenge
that most creators face when it comes to
email marketing isn't copywriting or
automation as you might expect it's
actually getting enough people to
subscribe to their email list in the
first place that's exactly what we'll be
talking about in today's creator

list there's one step that you should be
taking first and that is to offer an
irresistible incentive to encourage
people to sign up
this is so that you can grow your list
at a faster rate no matter where you
promote
it might be difficult to grow your email
list consistently if you don't have a
way to incentivize them for signing up
in the first place it's really important
to create that win-win situation people
will need a reason to sign up for your
list so give them one here are some
ideas that you could consider offering
to those who might be interested in
joining an ebook
guide
video training
templates
worksheets planner
checklist
journal prompts email course or a
content upgrade for example illustrator
the curly creative offers a free journal
prompt as a lead magnet you could do the
same thing too now once you have your
incentive ready it's time to use that to
your advantage so let's talk about the
top seven ways you can grow your email
list this very year by offering that
incentive
number one your website
if you're focusing on getting more
traffic to your website then it's a
great place to grow your list by
leveraging that traffic that comes in
so you want to place a form to collect
those email addresses in places like the
announcement bar on your website the
about page
blog posts or a menu link in your site's
tab options
here's an example of how i grew my very
own list by leveraging the menu on my
website when people click that link
they're then redirected to a landing
page that promotes a program by having
them sign up on my email list to join
the wait list for it number two social
media we're talking places like facebook
instagram twitter or tick tock
if you have a following take the time to
promote your freebie aka that incentive
on social media and find creative ways
to encourage your followers to subscribe
to your list in order to get that
freebie and when you do you can find a
good amount of success there now if you
don't have much of a social following
yet that's okay you can still share it
with your current following to gain a
little traction towards your email list
and just continue sharing it as your
following grows over time here's an
example of creator ryan holiday who
highlighted content from his daily dad
emails with the caption telling his
instagram audience where they can
subscribe
you could share on your instagram or
facebook story too you could even make a
creative video on tick tock or create a
twitter thread that promotes your email
list
just remember
try not to be pushy with it
you can gain interest towards your list
by giving glimpses of what you write
about or sharing what results you want
to give your audience instead of coming
off a bit too forceful number three
youtube although youtube is considered
social media it's also considered a
search engine in fact right next to
google it's the second largest search
engine in the world so use that to your
advantage to grow your email list by
talking about your freebie on the video
and linking to that freebie in the
description below the video
just as creator charlie prangley did on
her channel now she talked about the
freebie she was offering in one of her
videos but she also placed the link on
screen in her video
and dropped the link in the video's
description so people can easily click
number four pinterest you can leverage
your pinterest traffic into a hands-off
email list growth machine
just as creator kara chase did she
created a pin on pinterest that links
out to her landing page promoting a free
training now in order for people to
watch the training they have to join
kara's email list first it's a win-win
situation
number five webinars webinars are a
massive list growth strategy and it's
because people love to learn about
topics they're interested in not only
that but they can see you and hear you
while doing it it's a more personable
way of teaching what you know building
trust and positioning yourself as an
authority in your industry here's an
example by creator amira where she built
a landing page promoting her free master
class aka a webinar now when people sign
up they get to watch that incredible
master class and amira gets that
additional email subscriber in return
now again that's a win-win situation

for it when you do not only is that a
great content medium to have for your
business but it can also help you grow
your email list and overall community to
promote your email list to your current
or future podcast listeners
you can talk about that freebie or that
incentive in an episode and drop the
link in your podcast show notes so they
can get it
now when people listen they can find out
about the freebie you're offering by
listening and can get a hold of it right
away by clicking in your show notes
and remember they should sign up for
your email list first in order to get
that freebie that win-win situation is
super important that's why i keep saying
it over and over again
number seven
be a co-host or a guest
when you're a guest on someone else's
youtube channel podcast or even on their
webinar you're giving yourself the
opportunity to be in front of a group of
people that might not know you yet what
an incredible way to potentially get new
found people on your email list now when
i was a guest on the entourage podcast
with vanessa darby i was able to share
my knowledge and give tips to their
listeners based on the questions they
asked me and i could even drop in the
link to my freebie in their podcast show
notes
now if you're wondering how you can find

just start connecting with other
creators in your field on social media
or join groups and communities to pitch
potential partnerships with those new
found connections so out of these seven

title
a high converting headline
a descriptive copy
a high quality image that you can upload
from any of these three options from
your computer
unsplash or even instagram
and then go ahead and write a strong
customized call to action in your own
voice to encourage visitors to subscribe
you can even utilize the convenient
content block that appears on the left
in certain parts of the landing page
editor and add more creative components
to your landing page like additional
imagery links icons or feeds
when you're all done customizing your
landing page you can set up an automated
incentive email that will send for you
the minute someone clicks on your call
to action button to subscribe in today's

then you'll simply head to where you can
edit the incentive email content by

you can customize this email to your
liking by adding a personalized subject
line
personalized email body content
and even editing the button that
subscribers will click on in order to
get the freebie that you had promised
when you're all done you'll click save
save again
then head to share so that you can share
your landing page to the public and get
them on your email list
