today I am going to show you how I make
5100 per day with my reselling business
hey what is going on YouTube Welcome
Back to the channel super excited to see
you all today so as you can see I have a
plethora of clothing right behind me and
if you are new to this Channel or you
don't know who I am first of all welcome
my name is Jacob I'm actually a
full-time online reseller and I
primarily sell pre-owned clothes on the
internet on sites like eBay Poshmark
bakari stuff like that it's my full-time
income it's my career it is what I do
and I've been using this YouTube channel
to document the growth of my business
and well today is a perfect example of
it because I got a bunch of inventory
this morning over 300 items to resell
online that will net me over
5100 and I'm gonna get all of this
categorized processed listed today we
have a ton of work ahead of us but I
want to bring you along and show you
some of the stuff I got and show you
actually how I break down this inventory
to make over fifty one hundred dollars
per day with my reselling business well
as you can see this is just a thick pile
of clothes like I said there I got over
300 items today and I'm gonna get all of
this listed today it should be well a
ton of fun hopefully but nonetheless we
have everything from a bunch of
different types of fleeces to jackets to
lightweight jackets down jackets denim
shirts this pile it just keeps on going
on and on and on so I'm actually gonna
grab a few notable pieces that I bought
today show you guys them and then we're
gonna get started processing all this
inventory so let's get right into it
okay so I just cherry-picked a few items
off the top of that pile to show you an
example of some of the stuff I got today
and you're probably wondering well where
did I get all that inventory I actually
got it at the Goodwill bins and if you
don't know what the Goodwill bins is
it's actually a Goodwill store it's more
of a warehouse style store with big tubs
of inventory big tubs of clothing and
household goods stuff like that and you
actually pick through and nothing is
categorized nothing is on a racks and I
actually talk about the bins add nauseum
on this channel because this is what a
day of me going to the bins looks like
to get inventory technically speaking
it's not called the Goodwill bins it's
actually called Goodwill outlet centers
or retail centers they have different
names depending on the location but a
lot of people refer to them as the
Goodwill bins because you literally
sipped through bins to buy stuff and you
pay by the pound when you buy stuff so
after you load all the stuff into your
cart you actually put it on a scale and
you pay by the weight the bins that I
Like To Source at I pay a dollar and 49
cents per pound of goods and when we are
talking about clothing the lifetime
average that I have paid at the bins
whether it's a t-shirt a jacket a pair
of shoes doesn't matter what it is if
it's a payroll it typically comes out to
about a dollar and 60 cents per item so
now where does this 5100 come from that
I keep on talking about today you know
how I made 5100 today well I bought over
300 items at the Goodwill bins today and
my lifetime average sale price for my
business is 17 so if you take those 300
items and you times it by my average
lifetime sale price of Seventeen dollars
I am adding fifty one hundred dollars of
inventory to my business today therefore
or I just made fifty one hundred dollars
for my business because in about 90 days
which is the typical sell-through rate
for my business you know when I buy an
item to the day that I sell it typically
takes about three months about 90 days I
can plan on in 90 days having recouped
my investment my about you know four to
five hundred dollar investment today and
recoup that with about fifty one hundred
dollars which will leave me with over
forty five hundred dollars in profits
but as of today I'm actually adding
fifty one hundred dollars in value to my
business so if you accumulate all the
assets my business owns today it got
richer by fifty one hundred dollars just
a quick tip for if you are a reseller
out there and you're growing your
business that is one way I like to look
at how the health of my business is
going the more assets or the more
inventory my business owns the more
valuable it is therefore the more my
business will pay me on a day-to-day
basis in terms of sales now let's check
out a few of the items that I got today
like I said I'm this video would be an
all-day video if I went through every
single item I'm gonna give you a glimpse
of what a typical day of sourcing
inventory at the bins looks like for me
and uh you know a couple cool things I
got what I think I can sell them for all
that stuff and the first item is
actually this a vintage Wool Cap and
it's actually Sherpa line these ear
flaps this is all shearling sheep's wool
and it's obviously like a worsted wool
you know base on the top there and this
is a really really cool hat it kind of
has that cold war kind of military style
for it and uh if you saw my last YouTube
shorts where I got that military duffel
Bay that's worth a few hundred dollars
this is a good example of a piece of
military gear that could be worth quite
a bit I'm not super well versed in how
much this hat is worth but if I were to
guess on the spot I would say between 30
and 40 dollars this was a really really
cool find plus I kind of geek out over
stuff that is super well made like a lot
of this vintage military stuff so
nonetheless it gives me a little
enjoyment finding stuff like this all
right the next item that was uh super
good that I could just pull out really
easily it was actually this Athleta kind
of mixed media puffer fleece jacket
Athleta it's kind of in the same vein as
a Lululemon it doesn't get quite as much
money as Lululemon but their outerwear
does super well their leggings do well
stuff like that just a really high
quality jacket I'll probably get about
45 dollars for it so definitely a good
find today next up we have this really
really nice Solomon uh it's a nice like
technical layer on the outside but it's
also a really nice fleece line on the
inside this is like a mid-weight almost
shell type layer and Solomon makes
really high quality outdoor goods
they're known for their like hiking
boots and Hiking Trail Runners and stuff
like that but actually they're outerwear
and stuff like this is super good uh
they're also renowned for their skis
stuff like that and this is probably a
over one hundred dollar uh mid-weight
shell layer if you were to buy it brand
new so I think I'll be able to get
between 30 and 40 bucks on the second
hand market so super super happy with
this find next we have kind of a fun
nostalgic piece and it's this Walt
Disney uh embroidered crewneck
sweatshirt it's got the Vintage Walt
Disney tag just a super cool piece these
aren't huge money makers but you know
this is a 25 piece and I just kind of
love this old vintage stuff hence the
name vintage by Jacob so really happy I
found that next up we have a a jacket
and I'm gonna end with a couple jackets
but this is actually this really really
cool vintage sailing racing jacket I
really don't know anything about the
manufacturer or anything uh it's uh from
a company called L7 it's made in New
Zealand it is very old but it is very
high quality uh and I think this is
meant for sailboat racing so we will
find out I have to do some research on
it nonetheless even like if I were to
guess even if this uh goes for like
bottom Barrel price it's probably a 45
jacket but it could be something special
it could be you know something over the
hundred dollar Mark so we will find out
once we do some research on that later
uh next we actually have this LL Bean uh
flannel line kind of barn style chore
code these things do super well 65 75
bucks all day long it's in very very
good condition awesome corduroy details
on the Cuffs collar got that nice uh old
school flannel lining these are just
nostalgic jackets that people love
they're super hard wearing and you know
super good brand LLB makes super good
outerwear so I'm super happy I found
this as well and lastly we have another
really cool jacket so this is actually
from a brand called rainforest and you
might you know this is a brand that you
might pass up on or you might not know
much about when you're thrifting or
getting inventory or whatever but they
actually make really high quality
outerwear and this is kind of like a uh
I think it's called cam moist or or
moleskin jacket really high quality
leather collar and it actually has a
genuine goose down liner in it that you
can remove so this is a super cool
jacket uh and if I were to guess this
might be you know I might be able to get
upwards of 75 bucks for this jacket so
it was bulky it was at the top I figured
I'd show it to you but yeah that's a
little example of some of the inventory
that it got today so what I'm going to
do now is actually grab a few more of
these bins this is where I store a ton
of my inventory primarily clothing
because I actually shrink wrapped it put
it in there with an inventory number
I'll show you that later in today's
video but what I actually do is as uh as
these uh inventory bins as they dwindle
down after some sales start going
through out of the bins once they get to
about 60 percent or self-filled uh then
it'll actually rotate them to the end so
I know I can just grab a couple bins to
refill with inventory gets back in the
system it's a super good way of doing
things but I'm gonna grab a few of these
and I'm actually gonna head back to my
house where it's warm because it's a
winter as you can see I have my gloves
on so there during the summer I actually
process a lot of inventory in here in
one of my other storage units but uh
today I'm actually going to the warmth
and the comfort of my home which is
typically what I do all winter long just
because I can I can process and take
pictures and list stuff uh more
effectively when I'm when I'm warm so
that's the plan I'm gonna grab some bins
we'll head back there and we'll jump
right into it right so I got my little
home studio set up now for taking
pictures of all the inventory I got
today as you can see behind me we have
this really really awesome vintage shot
NYC jacket if you have never heard of
shot this is also another really good
brand to look out for this is a really
cool kind of like Letterman style jacket
shots is actually known for their
leather jackets but all their outerwear
fetches tons of money off I might be
able to get upwards of a hundred dollars
for this jacket but we'll see
nonetheless this is what my setup looks
like at home I am super pragmatic and
simple I just run with a simple command
hook got a nice wooden hanger I take
pictures of the items illuminated by a
ring light and I literally just set up
my kitchen island with the Saran wrap
all the utensils that I need to get my
inventory processed and I will literally
just use my wagon to wheel in inventory
from my truck it'll go from pictures to
Island wrapped into the bin we'll
literally do that for each and every
item until I am done with all of the
inventory now to be honest a day like
this I got a bunch of inventory over 300
items and I am very fast and very
efficient when it comes to processing
and listing items I'm about a minute on
each side so you know taking pictures
getting it wrapped getting it in a bin
will take me about a minute per item and
when it comes to actually listing the
item for sale it'll take about a minute
as well per item and you know a lot of
people kind of think you know how can I
do that in a minute that seems like so
so fast so let me tell you you just have
to get some good systems down for your
business I have videos in the past
explaining my listing process I
typically have a template that I will
copy and paste on every item and then
fill out the specific details from there
it makes things super fast super
efficient and if you have to get through
a ton of inventory I wouldn't do it any
other way so just experiment figure out
some different systems that work well
for your business and you will figure it
out slowly but surely so that's what it
looks like about a minute to get
pictures about a minute to get listed so
I'm going to take all the pictures first
and like I said I got about 300 items so
this might take me upwards of five hours
to complete but I'm not a psycho I do it
in little chunks I do about an hour at a
time realistically I would like to get
about
250 items pictured and listed today let
me see yep I'm doing pretty good on time
it's just a little past 10 o'clock right
now 10 in the morning so I have I'm
willing to work all evening I'm willing
to work until about 10 at night so I'm
going to kind of Mosey through this you
know I'm gonna eat in between breaks
stuff like that but this is a typical
listing day for me this is a typical day
where I get a ton of inventory get it
listed get it processed and It's a Grind
I'm not gonna lie but I'm motivated you
know I got a wedding to pay for all this
stuff so I'm I'm willing to put in the
work and I'm willing to document it to
help you guys out as well before I leave
it let me show you real quick how I
actually go about taking pictures and
getting everything processed because I
think a lot of people are are curious
about that well first and foremost I
will take pictures all sides all tags of
this item and then I'll actually edit
out this door background I used uh
editing software to get a nice white
clean background on the image and well I
start with the clean background so it's
a super easy process and then I'll
actually take the item over to my
kitchen island where I will simply fold
the item put it on the Saran Wrap like
this and I will literally just roll it
like a burrito super easy
cut it out like that and then I'll
actually put on one of these little pegs
you can get these right at Walmart they
come in a pack of 500 so you can get a
lot of inventory done with one pack
I'll throw an inventory number on there
just like that put it into the
corresponding bin and we are good to go
do you see how fast that was to
literally snap the photos bring it here
roll it up
get her done and that's how I process
all my inventory just like that pretty
systematic and I know everybody always
comments you know oh it's you know
that's so dirty and gross you're doing
that on one of your kitchen counters
well it just works well for me you know
I like a kitchen counter because it's uh
it's counter height it's a good working
platform this is a very large space and
it's really easy to utilize for my
business and well when I'm done I simply
will just disinfect this part of the
counter no big deal all right so that is
my plan for the rest of the day this is
a little Glimpse at what a fifty one
hundred dollar day for my business looks
like getting a bunch of inventory and
then processing it and getting it listed
um if any of you guys are curious like I
said I get my little labels at Walmart
they come in a pack of 500 here's the
exact ones right here Avery labels they
work super well and then if you guys
watch some of my videos in the past you
know I used to buy those big long
Furniture wrap rolls of a Saran wrap but
I ended up just getting uh this great
value stuff at Walmart I've been using
this for quite some time now I just
found that uh buying stuff at Walmart
has been the most effective for my
business because I literally have a
Walmart right down the road I can get
all my my listing supplies there and all
my my bins there stuff like that
anything I need for my business I have
figured out a way to buy it at Walmart
it's just a One-Stop shop they have the
best prices and I don't have to make a
specific run all the way across town to
go to the Home Depot or Lowe's or
whatever you know and just burn a whole
bunch of time and run around a store
that I have no idea you know where
anything is so so those are just a few
little lessons I've learned from my
business because well
um it's getting to the point where I
really have to make sure what I'm doing
I'm using the most effective use of my
time so I just go to Walmart I get
everything there and that's a that's a
done deal so I'm gonna get busy I'm
gonna start getting through this big
thing of inventory um I'm gonna show you
guys this quick this is a nice piece
right here this Icebreaker merino wool
sweater
um these go really for a ton of money
this might sell for a lot of these I
sell between 50 and 75 bucks so you know
yeah looks like I got a bunch of really
good inventory today but nonetheless I'm
gonna get all this stuff listed for my
business today or at least I'm gonna
hope to get about two-thirds of it that
is my plan I think realistically I will
be able to do that and you know this
just one of the dark sides of the
reselling business this is going to be a
long grueling day but if you want to
make strides in your business like I do
and make really big improvements to your
business and get a ton of inventory
listed and provide a ton of value to
your business this is just one of those
things that you got to do you're gonna
have to suck it up and kind of list all
day it's going to be a grueling process
you can get burnt out really fast doing
this but you know it's just one of those
things that I've learned to uh to cope
with and enjoy you know a lot of times I
throw on a podcast or a movie on my TV
here I kind of work in my kitchen so I'm
kind of eating kind of in and out you
know my you know I can kind of take care
of some chores as I go stuff like that
so make the best of it do what you can
and these are the moments that will
really improve your business so put your
head down get to work and I'll see you
guys soon peace
