hi everyone hope you're all okay um okay

welcome to week one of our training um

our four week program called the art of

selling scentsy so basically we've

broken selling scentsy down into four

weeks four different sections that we're

going to kind of home in on and go into

the nitty-gritty of each

week so obviously got me and lisa

um and the our goal is that we give you

much deeper level of understanding and

knowledge about selling scentsy um we're

hoping to really really really give you

some lots of like like truly

understanding um

points and like ways to obviously think

and how to act and implement into your

business about actually selling products

okay because we believe it's a skill

um and we believe that there's obviously

lots and lots of different ways that you

can do it so we're gonna literally like

there's literally thousands

and thousands of ways to sell something

millions probably millions and we we

literally we could never cover them all

in a training program but that really

excites me when i think about because

you've never tried everything um so

there's so many ways

um but selling scentsy is literally the

lifeblood of your business obviously

selling the products it's really really

important that you do to have a

successful business that you do take

time to learn and grow your skills when

it comes to selling selling obviously

you need to be paid 500 prv to be

paid a leadership title if you did want

to grow a team

and also if you teach yourself how to

sell you're then able to teach your team

how to sell and if you can teach your

team how to sell scentsy you're gonna

have a really really successful business

you're gonna have a really successful

team

and it's honestly it really isn't that

difficult you don't need any

qualifications you don't need any that

you don't need to go to any specific

colleges or anything me and lisa are

completely

self-taught i don't think i've other

than books i don't think i paid for

any training when it comes to selling um

obviously we've got when we sign up to

scentsy we get access to our workstation

we had all that training obviously we're

really lucky that um youtube's got a ton

of consultants powering trainings on

there you don't have to pay for anything

you could literally learn the most

amazing skills completely free it's just

your time just your time

um and obviously when it comes to

selling you get to decide how much you

want your business to bring to your life

you get to decide how much you want to

make from your business because you are

that you can decide how much effort you

put in um and how much you want to do to

grow and obviously

you're able to dictate your own paycheck

so if you work harder you get more so i

we feel it's a really really important

part we're just going to go back to

basics

kind of re-educate people on how to

actually sell scentsy

okay we've got a few

we decided to pull this training

together because of a few common

struggles that we're hearing over and

over again just a few things when

chatting to people we're hearing a lot

of the same things again so firstly when

we address them please know that you're

not alone you know it is quite a common

struggle and uh working obviously me and

lisa this is both of our full-time jobs

since he's both of our full-time jobs

it's our job to adjust and to learn and

to grow and to help you guys

move through these of these objections

that you might face and these things

that you might feel that you're

struggling with okay

the first one i'm going to kick off with

is obviously the

cost of living obviously we're at a time

at the moment so depending when you're

watching this we're in september 2022

and there's a cost of living crisis

going on people are getting worried

about it people are talking about it

okay

it really really really isn't anything

we can control we cannot

make that not happen we cannot make that

disappear we've got no control over that

and there's always always gonna be

the external factors like the pandemic

the pandemic was an external factor we

have no control over it every single

business

faces

these exact same things these exact same

external factors okay every single

business

with the cost of living crisis obviously

a lot of what we are seeing

is people not putting the effort in

because they're saying that nobody's

interested because i can't afford it oh

um like they're just there's things have

changed so they're not putting the

effort in because it is harder if you

had a brick and mortar shop you wouldn't

simply say you know what i'm just not

going to open the doors today if you had

a shop where you physically held stock

um and massive overheads i mean imagine

you had massive overheads paying your

rent paying your staff paying your bills

um you wouldn't just say selling candles

and home fragrance or whatever you

wouldn't just say oh i'm not i'm not

going to open my doors today because

there's a cost to live in crisis you

would find ways to grow you would still

work you'd just work harder you'd work

different and you'd work harder it's

exactly the same for us okay

your business is still a business it

doesn't take that away it doesn't change

anything it doesn't change the fact that

you can be wildly successful that you

can sell products and that people are

buying the products

if they don't buy it from you they'll

buy it from someone else so people are

still buying okay

so please know that yes

there is a cost of living crisis going

but please know that also it doesn't

change anything the number one driving

factor of your business and how you

succeed isn't an external factor the

only driving factor to how your business

does is you

absolutely 100 you and the effort that

you're willing to put in

um so today we're going to talk about

social media

completely free tool

like absolutely everybody has access to

it um if you've got a smartphone or a

computer or wi-fi which pretty much

most people have if you're watching this

i presume you have um it is so so so

powerful

so powerful near enough every single

business

uses social media to promote their

products and promote their services and

whatever it is that they do whether it

be restaurants beauty salons takeaways

um obviously products at companies like

us that

offer actual products

every single company i don't think

there's probably any companies i don't i

can't think of a single one that doesn't

use social media to promote their

business okay it's such a powerful tool

so if you don't use it i really really

really do recommend you try

there's many many many beautiful

beautiful parts of using social media

but i think the most the main part of it

is obviously the social aspect so you

imagine a um there's we've

where i live we've got a company

it's they make cookies they're called

the cookie people they're really big on

social media um but they got big by

having like queues of people out their

door every time they opened that's how

they got really popular like cues of

people that was like and honestly i've

tried the cookies they are lovely

but they they don't like blow me away or

anything they are really tasty and

they're really lovely people as well

which i think helps but you could get

lovely cookies anywhere

but because they were posting like these

cues and queues of people

outside like queuing up for their

cookies it really built their business

into momentum so by using social media

you can bring that into your business

the social part of it and obviously

you're getting other people's

interactions sharing other people's

opinions and you're also able to access

other people's networks which you're not

able to do

at the click of a finger as when in to

face obviously other other than parties

so as well as our own personal

advertising we've got obviously other

people's um interactions as well so if

you're not using social media i do

strongly recommend you start and of

course if you're brand new it's going to

take your time to learn and it's going

to take your time watching others to

grow your skills because obviously as

with everything um it does take skill it

does take time to learn so

something um lisa said to me the other

day she said um we were talking about

obviously how you get better at things

and she says oh my god have you ever sat

and looked at your first things that you

created on picmonkey if you don't know

what pink monkey is it's a

like a image making tool yeah like an

image making tool you can just make

pictures and like we make flyers and

stuff and honestly when you look at what

we made at the beginning and like you

look at like as time has gone on how our

skills have progressed you can see like

everybody has to start

somewhere and you just need to start you

just need to try we hear so many people

say no i can't take your photos

oh i can't get um i can't make images oh

i can't i can't write great posts just

start and learn

just keep doing it okay

so and obviously if you are like

seriously um

wanting to build your business online

again i do strongly recommend it i'd say

99.9 of my businesses online um i do

take every opportunity that there is

face to face but i am very glued into

the

potential of what's online but if you

are this book is fantastic have you read

it lisa i've got that one i don't think

i've read it all i've read the

leadership one freakishly effective

social media for network marketing by

ray and jessica higdon these guys are

fantastic okay i will say a lot of

social media strategies and things i

don't specifically talk about strategy

but a lot do

tend to go out of date and stuff like

that so there may be some things that

are a little bit out of the day it was a

year or two ago i read it but there was

something in there that i really liked

and i just wanted to um

i just wanted to read in here so it says

how most people use social media

most people in network marketing look at

social media as if it were a dart god

you can just throw things at it and

let's hope that something will hit the

mark and that success will happen i hope

someone will respond and they hope that

someone will buy they hope that their

business will grow but hope is not an

effective marketing strategy i just

thought that was brilliant i think

that's very true and it is something we

see

a lot of we see it a lot people just

throwing down after dark after day after

day i'm just hoping that one of them

will stick

um i wouldn't say i have a particular

strategy but i do have a style i have a

style that i carry myself online

obviously the way i work

um and it's by being authentic family so

there are two main factors when you're

thinking about social media two things

that you really really need to take into

consideration when you are working your

business on social media and that is one

your audience your audience is

absolutely crucial who are you talking

and two your content

so good quality content is something

that i'm finding myself saying a lot at

the moment but it's something that i

know

really helps you stand out as a

consultant really helps you grow your

business by producing good quality

original content and when i say original

i don't mean taken from somebody else

lisa said we were talking earlier about

the copy and pasting thing like i could

you had a

post that you did yesterday and you sold

20 bars of pink haze from it if i'd have

copied and pasted that post i guarantee

you i wouldn't have sold a single bar it

just doesn't work copy and paste it i

mean it might like you said it might

work even better you might even get more

success from it but it you you have your

audience and what lisa creates is for

her audience and what i practice for my

audience so

because we're like both in each other's

customer groups aren't we and we spend a

lot of time like i look at often what

templates in our customer group but i we

might have a completely different age

demographic a different

you know she might have more mouths to

i've got more females it really it's

really got to be linked to who your

audience is and i think it's so

important that i think that's the key

thing knowing your audience it doesn't

matter even you could create the best

content in the world but if it's not

aimed at who you're actually supposed to

be marketing to your actual audience

they won't buy it

it's exactly like you think of tv

adverts they put toys on saturday

morning because they know that kids are

going to be watching tv on a saturday

morning they put like you know men

shaving stuff when the boxing's on but

you've got to know who you're talking to

and

make sure you're tailoring what you say

i mean we are going to give you some

practical tips but you obviously what i

think you need to know is there's not

actually one size that fits all we if we

could give you a formula that would work

please no we would give you it we could

give you

we would we really would if we could

give you an exact strategy that would

work and you can go and do it without

even have to think about what you're

doing we would do it but it just isn't

that simple we cannot give you

an exact formula but what we can do is

try and educate you and try and help you

understand

who by learning who it is you're talking

to and helping you develop your skills

in the content that you are creating

okay when we talk about content so

audiences obviously who you're talking

to when we talk about content we're

talking about photographs but um we're

talking about videos we're talking about

things that you have are putting on your

social media that the words you've put

with your text and stuff like that

that's your content and then your

audience is the people who are going to

see that um so also you think about the

audiences you have so so when it's

something that i've tapped into quite a

lot recently um you

so we talked about like i think we might

spoke about it a bit recently but i

change

who i how i'm talking depending where

i'm talking so i've got a facebook

personal profile

i when i'm on there i'm talking to my

friends and family obviously there's

some people i don't know on there but in

general i'm talking to people who i'm

friends and family with like we've

clicked the add friend button to eat and

our confirm button so when i'm talking

there i'm a little bit more familiar um

i'm talking about maybe my kids my

personal that's what i'm that's the

content i put out on my personal profile

if i talk about scentsy

i talk about it in the assumption that

they know

i'm a scentsy consultant i mean it says

all over on my profile but i talk about

it as like

i'm not explaining that i am a sense

console

consultant um and the content i put out

there is obviously more it isn't

how to buy or anything like that it's

all very much familiar content and

obviously then i've got my facebook

group and my vip group as people know

them in there is people that have

already purchased sensor from me

um when i started none of them had

purchased sensors from me i started and

we could just add people to groups and

they were in there whether they liked it

or not as long as we were friends with

them it's not that easy anymore sadly um

but they are in my group and they

purchase censors from me other than part

of my group since i started so when i'm

showing them i'm all like i'm basically

talking to people who are just as

excited about scentsy as me they're

already customers they're ready they're

there because they want to know what

products are what new releases are

coming and for me to keep reminding them

what what products we've already got and

then there's my business page on my

business page i don't have that personal

connection with my audience so i'm not

talking to people that i have a personal

connection with i'm talking

the way my the way i deliver my content

online on my business page is i am

talking to people who are interested in

the products and who i can hopefully

engage to then click on the products

have a look and hopefully make a

purchase that's how i'm talking to

people on my business page but you

create the content i create i do

it does completely depend i will not

copy and paste a post

from personal to group from group to

page i will do different posts and i'm

not saying like massive essays or

anything you know they're quite i take a

lot of what i post on my business page

from the pws

but that's how i do it um

but as well as that so we've got our

current audience obviously we've got the

people we're already friends with we've

got our the people are already part of

our group and we've also got the people

who already follow our page but also we

want you to really think about creating

content that is going to grow your

audience it's going to get new people

following you

it does require effort there is no easy

snap your fingers and that'll work it

does require effort it creates

background work um and if if you take

anything from this training please know

that effort outweighs talent every

single time every single time okay the

effort you put in will outweigh any

level of talent any day

so you may feel obviously that your

current levels of creating photos flyers

etc are not good enough or creating

the written parts of it it really

doesn't need to be complicated but just

like i said me and lisa both started

from not having a clue and we've just

taught ourselves as time have gone on

it's absolutely worth your effort

when you're talking to your current

audience it's

that you your role your your intention

is you're trying to keep them engaged

you don't want to lose their interest

like i know you've probably done this as

well so there's been times where i've

kind of dropped my consistency on my

personal profile on my business page and

on my

customer group so i've kind of lost

their interest they've disengaged and

you know when you're following something

you can disengage if you're following

something consistently like a you know

like a influencer or somebody who's

really funny online but when you lose

that consistency you do disengage from

them so there is your job is to try and

keep them engaged um and but from time

to time you will lose that and that's

okay it's completely okay um and you've

just gotta then think right i can't just

jump in where i left off and start

posting fragrance if i was 19.50 i need

to re-engage them again my customers are

not interacting my customers are not

buying my customers are just nowhere to

be seen how do i re-engage my customers

again um i think the first thing

tip i'm going to give you is remember

that customers are not consultants

you have to remember these people do not

live breathe and eat scentsy like we do

it's not you cut them they won't be

purple obviously they might love scentsy

but it's not their everything like a lot

of us i do a lot of like market research

where i follow what other network

marketers and i go into their groups

and

um there's a few companies and i'll go

in there and they're talking about

products and they'll give they're

calling it the name that they call it as

consultant you know like if i just say

our whiffs to my customers if they've

never heard of wiffs before or they've

never really fully understood what

whiffs were they'd be like what what the

heck's the whiff like they just wouldn't

know so i see a lot of other companies

talking to their audiences like they

know what these certain products are by

their

sort of slang consultant name i would

yeah

and you've got to remember

like for me to see a picture of like

maybe a picture a photo of a product

and then a

writer where they're calling it that i'd

have to be that photo would have to be

insanely good for me to think well i'm

going to find out about that because

i've got no idea what they're talking

about from the content in the write-up

you'd have to like for us obviously if

you posted a picture of a

um a beautiful bomb like the pumpkin

warmer

and you you called it i don't know the

ball for fairy tale warmer and you

called it something that i don't know

what what a consultant might not know uh

what a customer might not know what it

because the consultant obviously the

customer may see the photo of it and

think i'd really like to know what that

is that's really pretty um but you're

much better off delivering the message

over and over and over again

re-educating your customers on what it

is that you are actually selling and

remember just remember for the love of

god that they're not consultants they

are customers so you are trying to make

things really easy explain things over

and over again that is the number one

thing i think you can do to re-engage

people is really go

to um over things again and again and

don't be afraid to

message people and so something vicki

nifton does and i love this she messages

people when like new catalogs launch and

stuff like that and she'll say to them

hi how are you she'll say something

personal and then she'll say there's a

new catalogue coming out or there's a

new catalogue just being launched would

you like to see it or would you like a

copy or would you like to send me a link

there she's not just spamming them new

catalog have a look she's actually

asking them and then they've got to make

the effort to say yes if they want to

see it and i think a lot of people are

intrigued you could put in something

like some fantastic new products and

we've got the best new fragrances coming

out build up their excitement a little

bit but that's how that's a great way to

re-engage with your audience again if

you've lost that momentum a little bit

um so you're making it easy as well

but yeah just really really think about

who you talk to when you create content

and the one other main problem i want to

cover before i hand over to lisa is

disney

i see this literally over and over and

over again where people say

my customers just down into disney my

customers just aren't bothered about

disney okay this i i

did not partner with disney so we could

convert people who are not interested in

to disney in disney into liking disney

that's not the intention behind these

products the reason scentsy partnered

with disney is because there is millions

and millions of people out there that

have an obsession with disney the market

for disney products is insane

our job is to find them scentsy's job is

to create find create the most amazing

products for us to obviously market to

people who love disney our job is to

then go and find them is to then go and

actually look for them and find those

people who love disney and by

doing that the most important thing

online that i have realized at least has

got some great tips on the ground but

mine is your facebook page and if you're

just sitting in your facebook group

you're not going to reach people who are

interested in disney if it's a private

group because it's a closed group

people if people are searching disney

they're not going to see it but if you

were using your facebook page a public

platform if you haven't got a facebook

page please please please

yeah you absolutely need one focus on it

really focus on it because you are going

to need to put some work in before you

see anything from it but what happens is

when you are

marketing on facebook pages consistently

facebook thinks okay like particularly

disney products do really really well

for me on facebook on my facebook page

facebook recognizes you as a disney

seller and then it puts you even

organically i've only just even started

thinking about paid advertising this is

completely unpaid all organic work and

just consistently posting facebook i'm

using hashtags as well facebook actually

puts you in their news feeds they don't

have to follow your page they will put

you as a recommended post if facebook

recognizes you as a disney um uh like a

disney seller and they know facebook

knows it's very clever it literally

knows your brass eyes

literally it knows if you love disney so

it will put your po

so if you you've got there's like 10

people out there who love disney it will

put their your products out there and

obviously facebook is a search engine as

well if people search those products you

are you're not going to appear if you're

in a closed group

you're not going to appear if you're in

a closed group you are absolutely

hindering your success if you are

sitting in a closed group posting and

posting a post and i'm hoping that

something amazing is going to happen

because you're just literally showing

stuff to the same people you need to

find new people um

so that is the biggest tip i can give

you remember you're not trying to

convert people who are not interested in

disney into loving disney that's not

going to happen i mean i i must admit

since being a sense consultant and

partnering with disney i have my love

has grown for it but

that's because i'm a consultant and it's

what i do for a living but just as a

consumer you're not just going to

suddenly start loving disney just

because somebody you know started

selling it you need to find those people

who love disney and they are out there

in their millions absolutely they're in

abundance absolutely that's huge i mean

there's a group and every single brat

like movie uh franchise brings a whole

new cult like following doesn't it one

hundred percent massive i've got a story

actually on that that you've just

triggered and i'll i'll explain in a

minute when you're finished i'm finished

you got okay okay so

when tam said to me about a business

page she actually said to me like a

while back i said like where are you

getting all your new customers from like

i see

different names popping up in your in

your customer group and i think oh

where'd she get all those and i had that

conversation and she said to me at least

really focus on your business page so

for the last probably about four months

i've put some solid effort into my

business page now i have done some paid

advertising recently you might you might

have seen it pop up but before i did

that

um not before the paid advertising

before i actually spent any time on my

business page i was one of those people

that said my customers don't buy disney

and i was one of those people i have got

like one customer or two customers that

bought loads okay just in the last 24

hours i've sold seven lock shop and

barrel mini warmers and that has

actually come through business page but

also through working on with

relationships on instagram which i'm

going to talk to you about in a moment

so yeah it it really does pay off that

isn't just through the paid advertising

advertising was through hocus pocus so

that was something completely different

that it's just literally been through

some and and it's really thinking about

i'm being intentional about what you're

actually posting that has been where the

game changer has been for me in my

customer group and on my more some on my

business page but actually really

looking at okay what are people engaging

with right i'm going to give them more

of that you know at the moment they're

engaging with hocus pocus lock shock and

barrel anything like that before

christmas because halloween's coming so

i'm thinking right well that's where i'm

literally putting all my eggs into those

baskets for the next you know for a

period of time for the odd post in

between but that's where i'm at right

now because that seems to be the people

that are heading towards my page

so it really it really really will work

head on to the business page it's

literally the most important thing you

can do

but it's worth the work because it does

take a bit of time people are like oh i

just talked about anything back but

you've got to keep going i was that

person me and you were both that person

for so long like we've done a few posts

right and i just don't get anything but

it was too sporadic and it was like i

just put a little bit on it and then i

haven't done anything on my business

page for ages and i'd forget about it

now

two two posts every day

maybe the odd day wherever i might drop

the ball um but two posts every day

without vowel will go on on that

business page now and it really does

make the difference and what's brilliant

about business page

if somebody likes your page that's not

like your post that's not following your

page you can click on the likes and you

can invite them to follow your business

page and then that's that's a whole new

audience if they actually then hit

follow or

like or whatever you've got they're

going to see your post more organically

and more naturally so and that's massive

that's a great way to grow your audience

without actually you needing to spam

people you haven't had to inbox anybody

and it's really clever tool i i really

love i just love

the more i started thinking about

facebook and the way they do things it

they're very very clever it's a very

clever free advertising tool and we need

to take more

you know

really learn about it a little bit more

and actually be prepared to say because

i hear a lot of people say oh i just

don't really do social media i don't

like social media i hate social media

but then at the same time you're not

they're not partying

or they're not going out and meeting

anybody new

and realistically it's you've got to do

one or the other you've either got to

get out and go and party to meet new

customers or you've got to get on social

media and be social and that literally

is what facebook and instagram want you

to do they want you to be social

and the more social you are

the more they will reward

reward you with showing your page to

people and i i've realized that so we

were talking earlier about being a

little bit intentional one of the things

that i spend time now doing i like

allocate 15 minutes of my day normally

overnight time

where i go and actually interact both on

instagram and on facebook i do probably
