intent of selling your people on

talk about the three key parts of
selling your safety program number one
decide what your particular brand of
safety is is it just to meet the bare
minimum to let your people bring all
their bad habits learned at former
workplaces or is your brand of safety
one that encourages participation and
ownership where your people all have a
stake in looking out for each other is
your as a budget brand of safety or a
premium product one that exceeds
minimums and helps yours to become a
world-class organization so number one
decide what brand of safety you're
selling to reduce the time spent on
rules and spend more time on the
benefits of safety now what are the
benefits of safety well safety training
prepares you to deal with uncertainty it
trains you to react well build your
personal confidence to make good choices
because you know exactly what to do and
safe people are more dependable and
dependable people get more opportunities
let me put it another way people who
don't follow safety don't get put in
charge good safety performers get
noticed and they get the ear of
management and they have better
influence so number two focus on the
benefits and number three find ways to
get your people more wins so what makes
it a win well don't say going home safe
because going home safe is not a win
that's what they're supposed to do and
most of your people are already doing
that now so technically they don't have
to do anything different to get the same
result

more they'll be motivated to accomplish
more and to get more wins you need to
improve performance companies that focus
on helping their people get better so
they can perform better attract
employees who want better better
workplaces attract better employees so
number three help your people get more
wins look if you're going to make

safety program you need to consider all
three parts build a premium brand of
safety focus on the benefits of safety
instead of the rules and find ways to
get your people more wins so they can
motivate themselves to build better
