hey what's going on this is Steven
Douglas with Douglas restoration roofing
company I'm uh I'm on the line today
trying to bring massive value to my
sales recruits everybody listen up this
is how you do it this is how you go from
making only thousands of dollars in a
year to making hundreds of thousand
dollars in the year let me explain it to
you how you do it
you listen to what I tell you to do and
you listen to the techniques that I have
claimed over the last ten years I mean
in the roofing business I started this
business working with my dad in 2005
after Hurricane Wilma I've learned a lot
about the roofing business let me
explain to you what I wish I would have
known when I wish I could brought to the
table when I was in my first year as a
roofing salesman well I've made a
hundred and fifty thousand dollars in
the first year I'll be in a roofing
salesman I didn't know any of the
tactics and I'm getting ready to teach
what happens is if you're a door-to-door
salesman in the roofing business you're
going to target people you're going to
be looking for those missing shingles on
the roof you're going to go around
let's say that you knock on somebody's
door they come to the door you say hey
listen I'm from the roofing company I
I saw that you had missing shingles on
your roof let me ask you a question sir
do you have insurance on your home oh
yes sir oh we do we have insurance on
our home and well sir I would like to do
a free inspection for you because your
roof is damaged by wind did you know
that your insurance company will pay to
have your whole entire roof replaced
because that's what will happen if you
let me take a look at your insurance
paperwork so you go inside the house
after you've gone on the roof and you've
walked around and you've taken pictures
of the wind damage so that you could
show the homeowner that hey look you do
have damages sir let me show you these
missing shingles you can even point to
them from the ground so you go over to
looking at the insurance policy you find
the place where it talks about their
deductible most hurricane deductibles
are around two percent you say yes sir
it looks like your policy right here on
your policy it says that your roof is
covered and all you have to do is pay
for your deductible your deductible is
two percent of the value of your house
it looks like you have a three or four
thousand dollar deductible sir you know
let's go ahead and give the insurance
company a call right now let's get them
out here I want to meet with the
adjuster what's going to happen sir is
that you're gonna give your insurance
company a call you're going to need to
have your policy number available you're
going to need to have your policy
information in front of you you might
ask you some questions about you know
what your address is your phone number
all that stuff you need to have handy go
ahead and give them a call ring ring the
phone answers insurance company answers
and says hey what can I do for you he
says hey my name is John bode I have a
policy number
I have wind damage to my roof there's a
roofer here right now saying that my
shingles are damaged okay sir we can
take care of that for you let me go
ahead and find out when did this
occurrence happen what is the date of
lost when did when did you first notice
that you had a problem with your roof oh
oh it's during Hurricane Emma so you're
gonna want to reference a date of when
the storm happened so you're gonna say
yes this is hurricane
Irma related damages to my roof so they
say okay well let me go ahead and take
down some more information sir what what
areas of your house are leaking oh well
I have leaks in my bathroom ceiling you
were gonna find out where the leaks are
he's gonna tell the insurance company
the insurance company is gonna say okay
sir in 24 to 48 hours we're going to
have an adjuster call you when the
adjuster calls you he'll make an
appointment to come out to your property
to inspect it for wind damage you can
have your contractor available if your
contractors there the adjuster will meet
with your contractor you walk the roof
with your contractor he'll make sure
that all the damages are noted okay sir
somebody will call you in 24 to 48 hours
boop hang up the phone but if you
already just filed a claim with the
homeowner you pull all your insurance
paperwork your insurance proceeds
agreement your a will be your assignment
of benefits you get your claim number
that the insurance company just gave you
you fill out the alb you say sir I need
you to sign this document right here
we're gonna meet with your insurance
company we need to be under contract the
only thing that you're responsible to
pay is your deductible and we can
finance your deductible for you
if you need help with financing we'll go
ahead and finance your deductible so
then the insurance company sets up the
adjuster appointment the homeowner calls
you back a day later and says hey the
adjuster is gonna be here on this day
perfect okay I'll be there you meet the
adjuster there you walk on the roof with
the adjuster you make sure that you
point out the wind damage you make sure
that he knows that you're gonna go for
full replacement you ask the insurance
adjuster what does he need your help
with does he need you to send him a
letter of unrepairable T does he need
you to send him an estimate what does
the insurance adjuster asking you to do
is there anything that you can do as a
roofing contractor to get this roof
approved is there something in
particular that you're looking for a lot
of the adjusters are really nice they'll
tell you what they're looking for they
don't really need your help but it's
good that you're there to make sure that
you know that you're holding them
accountable and the next thing you know
in the home owners are calling you and
they're saying hey look the insurance
company sent me a check
we got the insurance paperwork we're
ready to do our roof and that's how it
works you know that's how you get
insurance claims that's how you process
it you make sure the homeowners know
that as soon as that insurance company
pays you the check that that's your
money it's not their money it's your
money because you're the one that
brought massive value to their home
you're the one that got them to file a
claim you don't want the homeowners
trying to take advantage of you a lot of
homeowners hello we'll give me a price
no no sir I have a contract with the
insurance company with you signed that
you're gonna pay me what the insurance
company paid now if you need help with
your deductible and you don't have
enough money to come up with it we can
finance that for you or you can take
things off of the estimate like you know
for example if the ceilings are damaged
and the insurance company paid $3,000
for the ceilings to be fixed and your
deductible is $3,000 will those two
cancel it out and then he doesn't have
to pay his deductible but you're not
going to do the work for the interior
because he applied that money towards
his deductible so that's how it works
