products that you could sell on amazon
for a profit
there are a few product categories and a
few products that are actually
restricted
and require some approval to sell and in
this video i'm going to be showing you
guys exactly what those restricted
products are
if you aren't familiar with who i am my
name is aiden i make
videos online on youtube teaching you
guys the easiest ways to
sell on amazon and i have also in that
time
sold on amazon for several years now and
through that experience i've garnered a
whole bunch of information that i'm
excited to relay on to you guys
in this video today i'd like to thank

i always appreciate their offers and
always appreciate the opportunities they
give me and without further ado let's
get into the video
now when i say that there are restricted
products on amazon i don't want to scare
away any of you new beginner sellers
because there are a whole bunch of
different products that you can sell on
amazon in fact there are millions and
millions of different products so don't
get it twisted you can sell pretty much
any product that
you desire to on amazon but there are
certain
there are certain kinds of products and
there are certain kinds of categories
that
you should be a little bit wary of now
if you aren't familiar with what exactly
restricted products are they're
basically just certain products that you
need to
request approval from and you request
approval by
going through a very lengthy application
process um just kind of talking about
your business and talking about why you
should be allowed to sell those products
and
um it is a little bit risky not only to
um you know you're investing into that
product but it's also a little bit risky
to
um your amazon seller central account
which is why
it's highly recommended to stay away
from these certain products
now essentially what i mean when i say
you would be requesting approval for
these restricted products
it's basically saying that amazon will
is basically just checking to make sure
that you're adhering to their guidelines
and
you're pretty much just following the
law in general you know there are
certain legal issues that
you don't want to get mixed up into when
selling on amazon and amazon doesn't
want to get into that either so that's
why they have to go through that process
and once again it is a lot of work so
that's why you would highly want to stay
away from those restricted products
now being careful of restricted products
is important when you're reselling
products or going through online
arbitrage
um you of course you don't want to go
purchase a product only to find that you
can't resell it because you need
approval but
this is especially important when it
comes down to private label
um if you guys are thinking about
starting your own business or starting
your own amazon brand you want to make
sure that the product you're selling
adheres to the guidelines
you know you don't want to get excited
about this new product you found say on
alibaba or online and you're thinking
yeah you know this is going to be the
business that you want to start
only to find out after you've invested
thousands of dollars into that product
that
you can't sell it because it's gated or
because it's restricted so that's why
you always want to make sure that you're
double checking
whether or not the product you want to
sell whether online arbitrage or private
label
is restricted or not of course as we
continue through this video i'm going to
be showing you guys
which specific product categories are
restricted and exactly how to check them
and of course as we're going through
this video i'm going to be showing you
guys you know which specific amazon
categories are restricted or are gated
and how to check whether you can sell
one of those products or not
now right now i'm just going to give you
guys a little overview of which product
categories are a little bit restricted
or a little bit more gated
i'll put a list on my screen right now
just going through every single one of
them
a few things that come to the top of my
head you know kind of self-explanatory
like
alcohol or weapons those are kind of
product categories that
you would expect to be gated but some of
the things that are a little bit less
expected
are on that list too as you guys could
probably see one of them that's actually
stuck out to me
when i was selling on amazon was toys
and games um you know i would always
go on coupon websites or i'd always look
to see which products i should sell and
i'd find
um you know just a children's toy and i
would say you know that's giving me a
good profit so
um you know that would be nice to sell
and you know i'd be i'd get a little bit
lazy and think you know it's a
children's toy so what's the point of
even checking it obviously you can sell
it only for me to find out that
toys and games are actually gated
products so which is why you really want
to make sure that you're double checking
every single product
whether or not it may appear restricted
or not and
in addition to those categories of
products you can sell there are also
different brands that you can't sell
i'll give you guys another list on my
screen right now of the different brands
that are known for being restricted
but it should be known that amazon
actually doesn't provide a specific
list of you know every single brand that
you can't sell of course there are so
many brands out there
so these are just kind of the just the
the main ones that are known to be
restricted
but you should also make sure that if
you're selling a branded product
there is a chance that it could be
restricted or it could be gated so you
want to make sure that you're checking
that
generally when selling on amazon most
big brands or most
major brands are going to be restricted
so you know if you're going through that
online arbitrage process of finding a
product you want to stay away from those
brands and you know if you're doing
retail arbitrage and you're going into
stores to find your products
just make sure that you know maybe it's
a store brand or a no name brand um
kind of product so you're not at risk of
getting your product restricted
all right now i'm going to be showing
you guys exactly how to tell whether a
product is restricted or not
there are two different ways both super
duper simple um this first one i'm just
going to show you real quick
um so i'm on this headphone stand on
amazon just a regular amazon product
nothing too special
about it and most products and keyword
most
are gonna have this little button at the
bottom that says sell on amazon and by
clicking that you're able to kind of
try and create a listing but sometimes
the product is going to
be restricted so it won't allow you to
make a listing so i'm just going to
click on sell on amazon right now again
just at the bottom
and i can put in all the information so
because i'm able to put in all the
information and actually create that
listing through my amazon
seller central account that just
instantly tells me that this product is
not restricted and i am able to make my
listing and sell it freely
i'm going to show you guys the exact
same thing on this transformer product
the reason why i chose this transformer
was because as a younger kid i love
playing with transformers so this is
kind of the first toy that came into my
mind
and of course as i mentioned before you
guys toys are one of those categories
that are restricted products on amazon
so when i click this little button here
that says sell on amazon
um i should expect it to not allow me to
make the listing so i'm going to click
it real quick
and it says right here you need approval
to list the product so that's telling me
right away of course
that this product is restricted too and
it's telling me because it must be a new
condition and
i can't sell refurbished products i
guess this product was refurbished and
it's also a toys in the toys category as
it says right there
all right so now i'm back on this
headphone stand basically that was just
the first way of telling you guys or
showing you guys um how to find out if a
product is restricted just by clicking
that sell on amazon button
but sometimes products will actually not
have that sell on amazon button
i'm not too exactly sure why i guess
there are there is likely a reason
behind it but just some products won't
have that
so there's actually another way um that
you can find out whether your product
is restricted or not all you have to do
is scroll down a little bit
and you should actually go down or i
passed all this stuff
and if you scroll down far enough each
product will have its own
product information below it and there's
the product information
and right here what you're going to be
looking for is the a sin the a sin is
kind of just like an id number
it's kind of just the little id that
every single product on amazon has it's
kind of its own
individual thing and it usually starts
with bo okay or b0 so um if
it has that b0 in front then that's
likely the asin this particular product
has this acin right here so i'm just
going to copy it
and we're going to go to the amazon
seller central account now so right now
i'm on the
amazon seller central account right now
of course there's a big process of
creating your own amazon seller accounts
and i'm going to just assume that you
have all
created your seller product or your
seller central account
so what you're going to want to do is
you're going to want to go to catalog
at the top left and then you're going to
go to add products
and that's going to take you to this
page on my screen right now and find
your products on the amazon catalog so
what i'm going to just do right now is
i'm going to
in this big search bar i'm going to
paste that asin that i
picked up from before from that previous
product i'm going to search it up
and instantly it's going to show me this
one product right here so what you can
do is on the right side it's going to
ask you to select the condition and
usually when you're selling products on
amazon
99 is going to be a new product so we're
just going to put new
and we're going to sell the product
we're going to press the little sell
this product button
and instantly it's going to take me back
to this page to create the listing so
again that's also showing me that
i can sell this product then it's not
restricted same thing for this
transformer product i'm just going to
scroll down a little bit to its product
information
um there are some pictures right here
the product information every single
product should have this
um there's the a in right here and again
it starts with b08
i'm going to copy that i'm going to go
to
again amazon seller central page go into
the catalog in the top left and go to
add products
i'm going to paste that aside into the
search bar and it's going to show up
right here
and as you can see right here instead of
saying sell on amazon it says apply to
sell
so if i click apply to sell then it's
going to take me to this whole
application process now some of you may
be asking yourself the question of is it
even worth selling restricted amazon
products
um in some cases yes and in some cases
no most of the times the
the process can be a little bit lengthy
but other times it can actually be
really simple and really quick
um i'm going to be showing you guys kind
of this little example of requesting the
approval and
kind of the application process behind
it but for the most part it can be a
little bit of a lengthy process and
there are a few requirements and
guidelines you have to
meet in order to sell certain products
however if you guys have found that
perfect product and you think that it
will be profitable
enough to the point where it's totally
worth selling that product i 100
encourage you to go and do that and
pursue that um honestly
i think it's just a gut feeling and if
you guys really feel that a product will
be successful
i say by all means go for it now there
are some basic requirements that you
need to meet in order to
sell some gated products the first one
is being a professional seller
so when you're first making your amazon
seller account and i'm sure most of you
who have gone through this process would
be
familiar with this there are two
different amazon seller
account types one of them is the
professional and one of them is the
individual
the professional is around 40 bucks a
month while the individual is fairly
cheap and i don't think there's a
monthly fee for it
but you will need a professional seller
account to sell most
gated products i know that the
professional seller account has a lot
more perks than the individual seller
account
some of which i won't really be going
into but uh if you're really if you're
kind of on the edge about it just know
that if you want to
be selling these gated products then a
professional seller account is going to
be needed
having a strong success on amazon is
also going to really influence whether
or not
um you would be able to sell these gated
products i'll put some of the statistics
on my screen right now so you kind of
have a general idea of where your seller
account should be at
but it's just amazon's way of knowing
that um you are an experienced seller
and you aren't just you know kind of new
to this so if you're a little bit of a
beginner to amazon selling i say stick
to products that are
that are unrestricted and kind of get
the hang of things first and finally and
this is a pretty big one you would need
a company website
and you would kind of need to have your
own brand or your own logo
i'm just kind of your own trademark for
a way of amazon knowing that you are a
legitimate seller
and that's kind of why i mentioned
before that selling restricted products
can be pretty
pretty big pain because you need a lot
of these requirements and some of which
would actually take
a pretty long time to achieve all right
now i'm just going to be showing you
guys a little quick glimpse of the
approval application just keep in mind
that a lot of these applications they
can vary they can be different from
product to product
so don't think just by looking at this
one which is for a transformer toy that
you know it may apply to something else
that you're trying to sell
but this is just a little you know
getting a general idea so i'm just going
to press the request approval button
and that's been on my screen right here
are you a reseller distributor
manufacturer blah blah blah
i'm just going to assume that most of
you would be resellers at least that's
how i started out on amazon
um so i'm just going to put a reseller
and then this is where you're going to
have to put in some credentials or some
authenticity to let amazon know that you
know you're a legitimate seller
so anyways you would just be providing
some information that um
kind of authenticates you as a you know
real seller on amazon
so those are just those things and then
right here just some contact information
email address and phone numbers
and then you would just submit that this
approval process can take anywhere from
between
a few days to a few weeks so you know i
understand if it can be a little bit
frustrating and if you are
unfortunately rejected by amazon um
there's always the possibility of
re-meeting the criteria and reapplying
so don't worry too much about that
and finally if you want to just avoid
unrestricted products altogether you can
use amc scout's
product database right now i'm just
using the free subscription real quick
i'm just kind of showing you guys
exactly just a little gist of it
you can just go select any of the
categories that you desire and what i
love about this is you can actually
um just you can just avoid the
categories that are restricted
altogether so you don't have to worry
about any of those restricted products
getting in the way
you can choose which prices that you
want to purchase from or you can choose
the reviews or you can choose estimated
sales
really you can just choose new products
hot products really the
just the very important aspects of
selling on amazon you know i know there
are a lot of numbers and other
statistics out there which of course are
important
but these are really just the main
cornerstone pieces that you need when
selling on amazon and finding those
right products so
again if you just want to avoid those
restricted products all together
