uh today i want to talk about why 99.3
of ebay sellers
fail to sell 10 items a day so i
wouldn't necessarily consider someone
who sells less than 10 items a day of
failure you're just talking about number
of sales as like a metric for
success so on the site top rated
seller.com you can see how you rank
i'm usually like in the top 7 000
sellers that's like the 0.1 percent of
sellers and i think to get to that stage
you really need around 50 sales a day
then above 100 sales a day you're really
in really rare territory there's not
that many sellers that do that but i
want to talk about why people don't
reach the first 10 sales a day and the
first thing i want to talk about is the
one percent sell through so a lot of
people messaged me after my last video
saying that they are not at one percent
salty meaning they don't sell one per
hundred i think that's really dangerous
actually if you are a small store
and you don't sell one percent of your
inventory you actually will run out of
space and you also run out of money
because your items
don't sell fast hold on we have a
delivery

where were we okay so
one percent sell through rate is one of
the biggest problems so if you have 100
items you should be selling at least one
a day and in the beginning this is going
to show whether or not you understand
how ebay works so
listing a hundred items and not having
at least one cell a day is already a
huge red flag now people are saying well
i have 2 000 items for 3 000 items and i
have 10 12 15 sales that's good too but
you're still going to probably run out
of money being a cash flow problem so i
think that
before you grow let's take a look at
your store let's look at a small sample
size of listings and we'll try to see
how we can get it to those 100 listings
selling at least one a day because if
you don't get there you'll be in big
trouble so i recommend if you are not
there stop growing let's go back and fix
some listings first that's really huge
and we'll take a couple more probably
take some questions now and then we'll
hop back into the other reasons why
people don't make it

treadmill and maybe it's sold out now
because he talked about it but that
cool concept being able to get a few
calories
out and then people had talked about an
ergonomic setup
your ebay store this is one of the
things that makes people not be able to
do it is your ebay store takes too long
so for me to do 10 listings

somebody looks at a new unit the alarm
goes off um or someone is breaking in
this morning cheryl in the group
actually did 10 listings so she timed
herself and it took 1 hour and eight
minutes
and she thought it was really surprising
because our morning call starts at six
o'clock in the morning pacific she was
already done before the call so her goal
was already reached
before six o'clock in the morning so now
she doesn't know what to do with herself
because
they used to take her all day to do that
now only takes an hour and eight minutes
um young soldier says i got over 2 000
items and only sold four items yesterday
what am i doing wrong so we need to go
back and look at a sample of a hundred
so
we'll take a look at the most recent 100
or the oldest 100 and we'll look through
them most likely
titles pictures pricing there's a whole
bunch of problems today i actually want
to i want to film a video responding to
phoenix resale because he
was asking me whether or not he should
do ebay at all he has other streams of
income
and so i want to give him
the minimum effective dose of ebay which
is
five listings a day so a lot of people
don't um are not consistent that's the
main reason why your sales aren't
consistent because
you don't list very often or sometimes
you list a lot and sometimes you don't
list a lot so essentially ebay doesn't
know how much traffic to give you so
since phoenix resell is really busy and
has other things going on i don't want
his ebay store to completely die but i'm
going to recommend that he does five a
day
every single day to keep this store open
because
you know ebay is hard to start up in my
opinion because you need to have that
consistent habit habit going it's much
easier for me to sustain my store and to
build it up in that initial phase so i
want him to have at least a 500 item
store that sells five a day it's only
going to take him
15 to 30 minutes a day and he has enough
time to do that

do your employees get paid per item or
by the hour so i actually have all three
i have people who work hourly and they
work as much as they can
until their time runs out i have people
who are by the piece what was the other
one
those are the two that she thought okay
so by hourly and by peace so if you can
hourly is better because as you get more
efficient you can get more out of them
in theory but by the piece is nice if
you don't know what you're doing because
that way you're not overpaying for the
process but once you figure out what
you're doing you definitely want to
switch over to hourly as soon as
possible that way
as you get better their pace stays the
same that's how essentially works
although
i was talking about this
with a few people this morning
as they get better they can ask for more
money and for as you if you are making
more money then you will have to give
them a raise if you want to keep them so
essentially how that works is
if your worker was doing 10 items an
hour and now they're doing 20 items an
hour because your systems get better
essentially they could say like hey can
i get a little bit of a bump and raise
because i'm doing twice as much work for
you but if you're per piece they doubled
their hourly income right and that might
be above what you're willing to pay them
because the improvements the company
made the improvements and so they are
the benefit of that so just something to
consider i think if i could redo it i
would not have any per piece workers
every single person would be hourly
um amanda says hey chris my question of
the day why don't you have ebay send out
automatic payment reminders for you i
don't do that but well first off when i
only have four people a day that don't
pay so that's not that's not that many
it's 120 people per month that don't pay
and i just go through once a day and
send it out when i was doing the
send payment reminder if you guys
watched the video last friday where i go
over my processes sending those four
invoices to people took
i think
nine seconds so it doesn't take very
long that's for sending all four so it's
only two seconds per item i have nine
seconds a day and 120 non-paying people
per month is like more than people have
in their entire life so i don't know why
people are complaining so much about one
or two people not paying
don't worry about that just go it
literally takes
2.2 seconds to send an invoice to
somebody

taking 10 minutes to list an item used
clothing doing it all from the phone and
it's slow how to speed this process up
okay so in the process that you watch on
my computer which i posted last friday i
airdrop the photos into my computer this
computer right and then what i do is i
build the listing from scratch so title
custom sku drag the pictures in add all
the item specifics and
adjust the price submit that process for
me takes 90 seconds so if your process
is taking 10 minutes we have to look at
why it's taking so long mobile is much
slower mobile is designed for the
consumer so
everyone is listening to this channel i
want you guys to have 10 sales or more
and i know this is going to ruffle some
feathers but unfortunately if you don't
want that goal i have to leave you
behind i know that's really sad but like
i have to now focus on the people who
want to do 10 listings a day or more
because i don't have enough time there's
so many people that will never get the
10 listings a day because they don't
know how to do it they're not organized
they're super duper distracted so
if you get distracted by something your
phone or somebody's talking to you it
can take you 20 minutes to recover
so you only have three of those per hour
and most people are getting getting
interrupted 10 20 times an hour so
they're not getting any work done so you
need to streamline and start cutting
things out of your life that distract
you if you have a problem with social
media you need to delete all the apps
off of your phone if you have a problem
with your family not understanding your
boundaries then you need to wake up
before they wake up or work after they
go to sleep there's just no way to work
while also cooking dinner or helping
your family it's not possible i have a
new daughter
when i'm with her i can't do anything
there's nothing ebay related when i'm
with her unless i'm lying to myself and
i'm like i'm with my baby and doing ebay
but that's not true that means i'm
facing this way and she's behind me
there's no way to do it at the same time
so ebay 10 items a day only takes one
hour so one hour before they wake up or
one hour after they go to sleep spend
the rest of the day with your family you
can you could watch like lord of the
rings trilogy every day and still get
your one hour in
um question from richard do you ever
calculate your sales based on the total
of value of your ebay listings on
average i sell between eight to twelve
percent of the total value listed each
month i'm curious to know what is more
important yep so if you're a small
business in the resale category so you
are selling the items
for the second time or third time right
i think you need to have a fast sell
through rate in order to survive because
the items are so expensive to clear the
cost of the of the storage your cut your
time to list the item i think you need
to be selling like 30 percent of your
inventory per month in order to really
sustain yourself but it depends again on
the value of each item if you sell more
expensive items
eight to ten percent is fine out this
morning in the car we were talking about
my friend brian he has a million dollars
worth of stuff listed so for him a five
percent sell through rate is fine so one
million listed five percent is fifty
thousand dollars a month in sales which
is fine for him he's running at a twenty
percent margin so he makes ten thousand
dollars a month profit on fifty thousand
dollars a month in sales with one
million dollars listed so five percent
is fine but most people
are not listing expensive items his
average sale price is 100
if your average sale price is 20 you
can't afford
to have that big of a store so he has 5
000 items in his store if you have 5 000
items in your store and your average
sale price is only 10 then instead of
making 10 000 a month like him you're
making a thousand dollars a month so
that's that's not enough to
i mean in some areas if you live with
your parents
that's enough money but
most people cannot run a household and
only a thousand dollars so it depends if
you're small you need to have a fast
churn so you can get all that cash flow
back in so as an example you guys see
one of these shelves is a thousand items
eight hundred to a thousand items
depending on what it is you would need
to sell thirty percent of it per month
which is a lot so
you really need to price your items on
point ready to move
like people always ask me what do you
mean by best price i mean
the lowest you're willing to take for
the item first if you really want your
stuff to move quickly don't play the
game of i'll list it for quadruple the
price and wait for a best offer i don't
have time for best offer when i want
something i just buy it so i'm not
looking if your price too high i'm not
going to take time to send you an offer
um

as we speak what is your best advice on
hiring someone to list for for me like a
va i've tried it and it didn't work out
i find myself fixing everything anyway
yep so
okay let me give you guys this is crazy
i turned down
six figures of income for virtual
assistant services
cross-listing services it's ridiculous
it's literally i think if i pressed it
hard i would make twenty thousand
dollars a month just saying you should
cross list and hire a va but you
shouldn't the best way to hire someone
is when you are 30 listings a day by
yourself you're making so much money
that you can hire someone to help you
ship
after you ship hire someone to help you
ship then you can hire someone to help
you list but 30 items a day is only
going to take you
if you follow the process in our group
it's going to take you two hours
so
30 items from two hours by yourself no
additional cost no cost of the va no
cost of cross-listing services for free
by yourself and at that stage you are
ready to hire someone because you know
exactly how to do it so when you can do
30 a day by yourself you are now ready
to hire someone because you have your
processes dialed in you can't this is in
my last video you should check out my
instagram too i just posted my last post
is all the steps required

most people hire people way way way way
too early it's because you like if you
don't know how to do it you can't hire
someone to help you you have to know how
to do it and that person is just an
extension of you one exception to that
would be like christine's my
videographer she essentially knew how to
do it right but this service it's like
my main business isn't making videos i
know how to do i know how to do um the
photo and listening part and fun fact
she was going to do that for me before
becoming my videographer so i know how
to do this part
if you want to hire someone to do
something else for you that's okay but
it can't be your main business you could
hire someone to be your house manager i
was watching noah kagan this morning and
it was kind of interesting so this guy
has 65 employees
and he has a house manager i thought
this was cool a lady comes to his house
once a week does the heavy cleaning so
vacuuming
floors headboard all the like heavier
cleaning and she makes meals for him for
the week and they're labeled monday
tuesday wednesday thursday friday
saturday sunday he has those meals
sometimes he eats out
and i think either there's like two or
three missing meals so that he has room
to eat out whenever he wants to she does
all the cleaning all the cooking all
that stuff in just one day so that means
you and i or people who can't afford a
house manager we can do that one day a
week we can set up the week organize
everything give ourselves the highest
chance to be successful so i want
everyone to think about

and i like the idea of a house manager
but in this case since you're an
entrepreneur you are also the house
manager
so um let's see
if you don't know how to do 10 listings
in one hour that would be a perfect
opportunity to join our group
because that skill will make it so you
don't need to hire a va

so 10.99 works two ways either
we you work for me
and i send you i'm sorry
there's two different ways of doing it
10.99 is where you work for me that i
issue at 1099 i also have people who
just bill me so in that scenario
somebody does a piece meal thing for me
like hey i'm gonna make you this or i'm
going to do this for you they charge me
a bill and i pay that bill and that bill
is my record
if i'm paying them like via zelle which
is how one of my photographers gets paid
on friday she texts me how many she did
for the week and i sent her a zell
payment for how much it is it is for her
to do that particular work for me so i
recommend
if you're going to have somebody work
for you
i this is a really really amazing model
which is you have the person do 100
listings for you photography and listing
less than that it's really really hard i
think this is why people get stuck
because
when you get to 30 a day by yourself you
can afford to have somebody help you
with a hundred listings a day so look at
look how crazy this is you just started
you don't know how to do anything it
takes you an hour to do a photo a hour
to do one thing
you get to the point where you can do 30
a day by yourself so now you've gone
from making zero dollars a day to 150 to
300 profit a day so you're now making
between 50 000 a year which is like a
basic income to a hundred thousand
dollars a year which is a professional
income you can do that by yourself the
first year right making that jump then
you can now afford
to have somebody help you and if you get
somebody full time which is way better
because part-time help sucks they're
always looking for additional work
when i first hired my photographer she
was not making enough money she was like
i need to find another job i don't know
you know this isn't going to work i'm
not making enough if you hire your niece
nephew cousin mom uncle
dog to help you they will not make
enough money to stay loyal you have to
get full time so think about how hard
that is you got to go from 0 to thirty
learn how to do it then
hire someone to do a hundred which is
insane that means you have to go find a
lot of stuff for them so you need
systems to get inventory
but that's most people like on this
video we're talking about the zero to
ten
the main reason why they can't get from
zero to ten is because they're way way
way too distracted so i should come up
with a course like there's all these
videos and books like called on f
yourself like get out of your own way
right and that
really is the main key why people can't
get from zero to ten

requirements to be a top rated seller i
just lost my status and wondering what i
did wrong okay this is fantastic so in
our group we actually aim towards people
having more than enough to maintain top
rated seller like here's an example if
today i had 10 people opened up an item
not as described and they said
he sent me a bag of bologna
no jeans and the mailer if 10 people did
that i still wouldn't fall below
standard because i'm so far above above
standard because i've done so many
things
so many positive things on on time so
the main things are going to be do not
go out of stock so you need an inventory
system where you never lose anything
that's really really really important
most people never get to that get to
that point and that's because their
system they'll tell you why because i've
had every system before it's not based
on date that's the key having an
inventory system that's based on date
that will help you never lose an item
because you can always go back and
figure out when you listed it so let's
say for example this is july 8th and
below this is july 9th and below that is
july 10th
you have an idea because you can go back
in your email and say i listed it on
july 8th if it's not where it's supposed
to be it'll be in that area that's the
key to not losing an item and that's the
number one thing that prevents people
from getting top rated seller or falling
below is because they lose items then
shipping same thing
it takes you a long time to find your
item you won't ship it on time you
should ship at this at the same time and
do everything in one motion so
when christine was filming me last week
it only took me 12 seconds per item to
get each item so most people have 12
seconds to find an item
they just don't have a system where they
can find it in 12 seconds you have the
time you just don't have the right
system and
so shipping on time you need tracking so
make sure that you print your labels i
recommend using ebay's default native
shipping it's clunky and sucks for a
billion dollar company but it's
it's okay i mean it's not to the point
where i recommend a third party so this
stage everyone just use what ebay gives
you don't pay any third parties save
that money list perfectly is seventy
dollars a month i'd rather you spend
seventy dollars at the thrift store at
garage sales turn that 70 into
150 right so that's like
you're losing 150 every single month
useless perfectly and and i
like in my mind i'm thinking the people
who use this perfectly all of them are
under 30 items a day
under 30 items a day so to me it makes
no sense if you're huge right and you
have
people helping you and that person is
going to be all poshmark this person is
all murcari you've you know i i still
can't even think of a point where it
would make sense because those two
people helping you could also just be
listing on ebay
so
it doesn't make sense to me to cross
list at all the math does not work i've
tried to figure out in what circumstance
does cross listing work and the only
thing i can think of is if you have more
than one of the same items this is from
tech if you have 10 iphones
and you list them on
mercari poshmark amazon jet walmart
that makes sense because you're not it's
the same listing right it's just one
listing you don't have to end and do a
unique listing because imagine you're on
seven platforms and you sell one and you
only have one even now d-list on six
platforms that's crazy so
i think it only makes sense if you're
selling the identical item
steve is wondering what percent is good
for your sales conversion rate from ebay
traffic
um it depends on what you sell i would
say in my category i would be happy if
um 2 out of 100 people who see it click
on it so i have um just basic brands so
let's say zara if a hundred people see
my zara jacket and one person clicks on
it i would consider that pretty good and
then if let's say
one percent of those people actually
click on it i think that would be low so
it depends on what it is if you're an
iphone right you want
probably 15 20
click through rate because you know
there's only eight iphones available in
that particular color
um storage et cetera so i think it's
important to think about what category
you're in so it's gonna be different i
was i would say it ranges from one
percent to one hundred percent on what's
good depends on what you sell

got negative feedback for an item going
from canada to greece before the item
was delivered saying haven't received
order yet after the tracking showed
delivered i requested feedback revision
sent the buyer a message replied to the
feedback and reached out to ebay via
chat message and through the resolution
center but was denied removal anything
else i can or should do i would just
call back so if you get a feedback
related to shipping and
just call back and get a second of
approval so my recommendation is
actually copied from
my colleague tekken sports which is when
that happens the first thing you should
do is call
because if you
message the buyer
and then um
do any more tasks let's say that you um
sent the feedback like all the things
that you're supposed to do to get a
feedback removed if you do all of those
things and the agent talking to you on
the phone has to review those before
they can make a decision it's almost
like they have to make sure a b c d and
e happen before they can give you a
feedback removal but if you call in and
say i got a negative feedback because of
the tracking but i shipped on time
that usually is enough to get it removed
but it's easier for the agent because
they can just think okay negative
feedback because of tracking she did the
best you could if you call three times
in a row you're gonna get someone to
remove it but if you do
all those things that you just mentioned
which is all the right things you should
do sometimes it's actually harder
because they need to review all those
different things to make sure you didn't
screw up and say i hate you in the
middle
because they have to make sure you did
what you said you were going to do but
if you said you didn't do anything they
don't have to review it
so just call back is the bottom line

currently and have a day to be able to
list is it better to list a whole bunch
in one day just to get ebay inventory up
or do a list bank and list five daily
from now on okay your chart again so so
is the way i look at this is we want to
be consistent so the minimum is going to
be one a day right so with one a day i
think you need a 14
item draft bank okay so you have two
weeks that
something can happen
recitals kid gets sick vacation so 14
days right
and that way your traffic remains the
same ebay gives you a certain amount of
traffic let's say they give you 10
eyeballs every single listing so you
want to go 10 eyeballs 10 eyeballs 10
eyeballs 10 eyeballs 10 eyeballs right
you don't want to go 20 00 30 00 70 0 0
000 that's what most people do so ebay
is confused they don't know how many
eyeballs to give you
somebody earlier asked how many eyeballs
equals a sale
it depends on what they see right they
give you the eyeballs if it's an amazing
deal they're just gonna buy right there
if you sell me gucci for one dollar free
shipping
one view
one set of eyeballs one paycheck because
that's
amazing right but if your gucci is
selling you're selling a gucci pen for
forty thousand dollars you get a lot of
eyeballs but no one's gonna buy it
that's way way way way too expensive so
you need to figure out
the right
eyeball to con get your wallet out
conversion rate
um let's see
fox lang hello there i was wondering
what is an ideal sourcing frequency in a
week if you list 25 items a day okay so
25 items a day that is
what is that 25 times seven
that is oops
175 is that right okay
175 items so now you need to figure out
how many items you acquire per hour so
let's say that you get 10 items per hour
that would mean 17 hours of sourcing so
for me i would recommend the shortest
number of days possible so for me two
days sourcing all day gets me all the
inventory that i need for the day
it depends on how fast you acquire the
items if all you're doing is driving to
the profitable supply store
they're waiting for you
you you then mow them the money they
load your car and you go home
then you can just do that once a year if
they just deliver a semi truck there's a
gentleman in new york who sells license
plates
and he buys one semi truck a year
so the frequency is just one per year
they come he just lists the same thing
all year i've seen people do that with
all kinds of categories so there's that
opportunity where you get all at one
time
if you have limited space and you're
cherry picking which is what i recommend
i recommend you just have a two maybe
two weeks of inventory so if you have a
25 frequency i would build up a bank of
350 items
extra
so i would just source as much as
possible until you have 350 just in case
stuff dries up so frequently i'm
starting frequently recently my
thrift store donations have been a lot
less so i don't know if it's like that
where you guys are at you can throw in
the chat let me know where you live and
if donations are slow here they are very
slow so
when donations are high i buy as much as
possible so i think i probably have
maybe actually maybe more i thought i
had 20 000 pieces of items that are
ready to go into my store i think it's
higher than that i think it's like 40
000. so now
depending on
the donations look like i might start
buying even heavier because i think that
thrift store prices will rise it hasn't
caught up completely yet like i haven't
seen the cost of of clothing in my
category go up that much yet
so i might buy everything right now
while i think it's still cheap but maybe
later

used clothing i don't know so hopefully
i can buy it all right now while it's
cheap
and
the more you buy the cheaper it is but
the more sorting you have to do the more
processing you have to do the more
defects there's going to be so just
something to consider
uh yasmin is wondering do you offer free
shipping or do you let the buyer pay for
shipping or prefer to offer a flat rate
i have one free shipping item it is a
soccer ball somebody please buy that i'm
doing that in the hundred listing
challenge and that soccer ball is the
only free item that i i'm free shipping
item i have in my store but it's because
there's a lot of soccer balls and i'm
trying to get mine to sell
the other items in my store
that's the only item that i have free
shipping the other ones i charge for
shipping and i don't like ebay's
combined shipping
platform it's horrible i wish that you
could set rules so somebody buys
five six ten items after they've
received an offer and they could combine
easily there's no easy way to do that
you have to go back and send them an
invoice and i went over that at the
beginning of the video it takes
between two and nine seconds to send
somebody an invoice
so it's not that time consuming it's
just a little annoying so i charge for
shipping the
the main benefit in my opinion of free
shipping is that it helps you rank
higher because most people do not offer
it but here's why i don't do free
shipping let's say something is ten
dollars free shipping
second item is ten dollars free shipping
customer buys both right so that's
twenty dollars free shipping but
it costs you a lot less money to ship
the second item so that's why i have
8.99 for one item which is expensive but
9.99 for two or more items is not
expensive so i'm encouraging buyers to
buy two or more items and this morning i
have a 18 sale item and the customer
only paid 10 for shipping flat now i
encourage them like look if i give you a
deal on shipping because obviously it
cost me more than 10 you have to pay
full price
i want to just i'll trade you you don't
waste any of my time with offers you buy
everything at full price and i'll give
you a deal on the shipping so at this
point i have a pretty good amount of
repeat shoppers maybe some of them are
resellers
pretty good
repeat customer base and so that's
really helping me out you guys if you
guys are watching my items sold it's
actually moving up pretty quickly even
though my
number of transactions is decreasing
which is what i want obviously i just
like one big baller to come in here and
buy everything every week that would be
easier so
you just got to slowly increase
your repeat orders and i feel like
charging for shipping that's a really
long answer charging for shipping helps
you get repeat customers
bulk customers
um expirable is wondering any work
around not being able to save or create
a listing template listing templates are
currently glitched
someone else was having trouble with
listing templates i think too okay so
let me look here if i click on the
create a listings page
there
is two
things that you can do you can either go
into your listing templates and select
one of them or create a new one and the
reason why ebay's template thing is
glitching is because for some reason
instead of allowing people 50 templates
i think they're trying to give people
22 000 templates i i thought i hope that
that's not true because it doesn't make
sense why would you give someone who has
50 templates
22 000 instead
i don't know it sounds ridiculous the
way around it is just to sell similar
off your own listings so let me give you
guys an example i use a listing template
i go in and i select women's jeans it
has a lot of stuff pre-populated and i
go in there and i fill it out and i
enter it takes about 60 to 90 seconds
if you sell similar off of your own
listing you don't need to worry about
the template server being down and only
takes
23 seconds
but a lot of people their listings are
bad to begin with
so when you go in there and sell similar
off your own sucky listing you're
duplicating the sucky listings in your
store so if you do sell similar it's
actually fantastic because you can go in
fix your existing crappy listing make it
nice
then sell similar and sell your other
one and you don't need to deal with the
template being down most people should
not use templates
99 of people do not do the volume
required for listings that make sense
honestly you don't inside of the listing
itself there is a place to store
commonly used phrases i would just use
that which is the
you know we ship quickly
if you have an issue contact us
please check the size before you buy it
that's really all the things that you
could tell a customer you basically have
maybe three bullet points to tell the
customer something
because they're not going to read the
rest of it

there's a question from
tt's how do you deal with customers that
give you a negative feedback but doesn't
return the item and no picture to proof
proves that the item was damaged annoys
me contacted ebay but no help so you can
either use
a service to remove it i don't want to
shout out the service that people use in

he does it where he's gotten every
single feedback removed so he's had
255 000 feedback that are all positive

of negative feedback and all of them get
removed the way that he does it and
since i've been doing it his way i don't

i don't want to give away the exact
secret sauce but
when you talk to ebay you ask ebay what
you should do you write down what they
recommended you to do right then you do
that then you call back and say hey i
talked to the previous agent they
recommended abc i did abc
nothing then asked them to remove your
negative feedback and again ebay is one
of these weird companies where you can
call back
and get a discount like i tried this
with t-mobile i called back four
different times saying hey i really want
to get a discount on my bill what are
the different things i can do and they
said well you can um are you military
i'm not are you this are you not and i
kept asking and trying to figure out who
would give me an idea and one lady said
oh yeah we have this deal that we give
company sometimes and she reduced our
for earth let's see our bill is
it's five people and it's a hundred and
four dollars a month for unlimited
everything which is
that's i don't know why that even exists
but if you keep calling back to
companies and keep asking for a discount
there's some kind of terminology and
some kind of rule they can bypass
any feedback can be removed i guess
that's the bottom that's the bottom line
any feedback can be removed if you know
what questions to ask

it just depends on your
your comfort i like to delete
i like to like it to be clean i don't
want any items in there that have zero
quantity so i delete them every day it's

um when should i upgrade to 10 000
listings i am paying for listings every

that's the point where my store gets big
enough to support us so that's real
accountability because you go into the
bathroom every single day you see that
and then bob
her husband can be like 87 days are we
on track right that's that's real real
accountability if you say you want to
bring home your spouse right you have a
specific number and you
and you don't do it and that's on you
because you should know how many items
you need to list in order to do that
uh maddie says do you check every photo
before putting them in the listing
from photographers i assume yeah so when
i'm taking the photos right so i take
the photo
yeah i i i'm the one that's framing the

i check every photo because you can see
on an iphone you can see the little
thumbnail of the picture after you've

there's so much so many different kinds

but i just use google translate so
the messages will come in i'll just

tell me what it means and again customer
service should only take you around

you need a seller's permit to avoid
sales tax when you are buying an item so
for example most people don't know this
but everyone should do this you should
apply for tax exempt on ebay you should
apply for tax exempt at like best buy
target because a lot of people get they
resell stuff from target resell stuff
from best buy they resell stuff that
they buy on ebay i am i spend a lot of
money on ebay buying stuff i resell back
on ebay so you have to get a tax you
have to have a seller's permit in order
to request tax free um yeah i have that
on the wholesale box on my
if you google my store daily refinement

and look at my store there's a wholesale
box on the wholesale box it explains how
to get ebay tax free on the listing so
you can use that
um to figure out how to buy tax free but
that's what you need a seller permit for
and i don't think you need anything
except for your social to get a seller's
permit i believe it's free so it doesn't
cost money so don't google how to get a
seller's permit and pay somebody to do
it for you it should be free from your
stay so let me know in the comments if
it's not free in your state but it

electronics
specifically no we don't have a vintage
electronics call but we do have 20 other
calls so we have um
the toy calls specifically for toys we
have calls specifically for jewelry we
have the media call on thursdays which
you could bring up
some vintage electronics in there
because those guys are they're open to
any kind of talk and they know all about
that kind of stuff the problem with
vintage electronics in our group has
been testing testing grading
cleaning
storage with vintage electronics is more
difficult and also it's more difficult
to get as time goes on because it
becomes more and more rare more and more
broken so vintage electronics is a tough
category but the principles applied are
the same
so whether you do video games or jewelry
or toys or shoes
it's similar except for your storage and
testing process is a little bit
different but right now we're working on

probably be on fridays friday afternoon

difficulties of storage and shipping and

difference between a 1099 employee and a
w-2 employee is the 1099 is like a
subcontractor and the w-2 is a full-time
employee that's a great question so in
california if you set the rules
essentially they become a w-2 so if i
say like for example
somebody comes to work for me for three
hours a day
doing this specific thing using my
specific equipment as a w-2 even though
they're part-time so
i prefer w-2 employees because you get
to dictate the terms you can say come in
at this time you leave at this time this
is my expectation of you if you do that
you get paid this much and you can just
not have to micromanage them 1099 means
they can work whenever they want with
their own equipment that's more
difficult so as an example i have a
student that works for me she's a 1099.
she works when she can
that's when i that's when i pay her so i

starting to realize that you kind of
need a 1099 employee on the side to help
you in case your w-2 employees don't
come it's almost like like on my wife's
team at her work they have three
full-time people on the team and they
always have one contractor so what i
think is the contractor is there to fill
in the gaps when something is one person
sick or in my wife's case you took off a
few months for maternity that contractor
stepped in so the company didn't fall
apart so i think there's a place for
both 1099 means they set their own
schedule they use their own equipment in
california it's very strict
to have a 1099 like
even uber got busted here because

specific time in this way you can't tell
a 1099 person to do that in depending on

um the employee or the contractor so w-2
versus 1099 is something that you should
worry about when you're over 30 sales a

a day if that makes sense because at 500
a day you would still sell five a day
and now you're at a good pace um so
what i would do is if you are in a hurry
which some people are then you do extra
credit so you do your five listings
every single day some days you're
feeling good you do a little bit more so
if that that's how you want to approach
it good for you but don't
let you don't get excited and do 10 one
day and then feel like oh i can take
tomorrow off
that will mess up your algorithm

to zero discipline reset the zero means
that like okay for example when when
christine came here today all of the
items that were supposed to be shipped
were on the floor right so it was
difficult to move around so i made sure
that i bucketed those all up to finish

zero for me is putting everything back
so we put all of the boxes that people
just listed back on
um we don't need to move back up on here
and i prepare the clothing for the next
day so that people have um
items ready to go and then the empty
boxes
so we have actually can make sure we
move yeah we can oh we'll move okay i'll

okay so reset the zero for us is we get
ready so my photographer is not in yet
today so she has 105 items ready to go

at home she'd come pick up the clothing

so once these are done so when these
boxes are are full i put them back on
the shelf that's part of my reset to
zero and i make sure that she has enough

needs four to five boxes

are in place we have we do we sweep at

i've got a broom back here if something

here we just make sure that we have us

a buyer and what do you do you can
block bidder on ebay and then it will

listings are you don't know how to

the price your item at so that's why i
recommend doing the same thing over and
over again so you can get used to it so

when you want to borrow money
people ask
what is your financial history what is
your history of dealing with money right
once you start having a good track
record of that you get that so if you're
dating somebody new it's probably a good
idea to ask them what was your dating
history like before right to get an idea
if they say my relationships are usually
only one day and no one calls me back
you want to find out why so that you can
investigate right your previous history
comes from practice right so if you have
a history of being on time reliable do
all your work plus one right so you're
the kind of person that
you know
does more than is required those of
people are
are
indispensable but back to the the idea
of practice
every day you just need to improve a
little bit this channel is called daily
refinement so
there's that same progress not
perfection i don't i don't like that
saying because i feel like
just focus because perfectionist is

already looked it up if every single
item is unique
that's difficult and that's why people
always get mad at me for saying i love
being in everything store i love
going out and skipping through the lanes
at the thrift store and every day i find
something new that sounds like a
nightmare to me because you get to go
home and do the research i don't want to
do the research i want to already know
ten dollars profit twelve dollars profit
eight dollars profit i don't want to go
in there and some items are eight
hundred dollars but i need to spend two
weeks and i need to download worth point
to figure out that it sold 18 years ago
for 69.99 in michigan to a person in
alaska like that's
way too much and if i was just doing
this for fun i would rather go out with
a metal detector and look for gold
that's more interesting to me than
it just sounds so much like so much pain
to me having to go home and research
something i don't know anything about

and china i can only list 15 to 20 a day
however each listing has an average of
eight identical items they require
cleaning and inspection how would you
count that 20 listings or 160 items
i would if eight individual items was
part of one listing i would count that
as one listing i would just put it all
into a truck and drive it off of a cliff
i hate china and glass it sucks because
if you have like a you have a good
chance that it will break on its way to
the customer at no fault of your own of
course you could insure it you might be
an expert packer because um
for a while i was selling yankee candles
and they come in a glass jar i got
really good at building a jar that
wouldn't break you could throw it across
a football field and it wouldn't break
because i had
packed it correctly but this is what
we're talking about individually
cleaning eight different items sounds
like a nightmare to me but if you're
gonna do it how i would do it is um my
shelving system would be the same i
would put the glass items in
chronological order based on how i
listed them i would get my 20 sets of
china per day to my left i would
organize it i would clean it actually
let me back up i would clean all the 20
pieces of china all at one time so do
all the cleaning all the polishing
everything then i would sit here and
list
i would do a natural light setup because
when you sell housewares i think it
should look like a kitchen i'd probably
do my listings in a kitchen get a nice
counter
all my items here already cleaned
because if you're setting it up and
cleaning it along the way it's going to
really disrupt your photography so clean
all of china list all the china
china might be something i pack
because
i feel like it would get broken on my
shelves so i would want to make sure
that it stays safe i might actually pack
the items
see this is this is challenging for me
because the um
i want repeat customers so if somebody
buys two sets of china i feel like i
wouldn't have wanted to pre-pack it so
i don't know that's a bit challenging
but essentially what i would do is clean
everything photograph everything with
natural lighting

i think
i'm trying to think here
i probably would use
a table by the window with the kitchen
in the background that's how i would do
it that way the customer gets a feel of
what it looks like in their house

glassware when you take it on a white

don't have any idea of the size

i expected a thing and they got

searching for commercial storage space
do you have any advice i know someone
else in the chat was saying that they
only have so what i would do is
first off call all the places in your in
your area and ask which of them have
commercial units and if they say what do
you mean i'm you can say i'm looking for
one with lights and outlets so i
actually had to wait i was on a waitlist
for about two months before i got
a different locations storage unit so
i'm in oakland now but my old shop was
in san leandro
that opened up first this is i cannot
believe how many times i've moved this
i was i was in dublin california the
place in san leandro opened because it
had electricity all at the time was
using a portable storage i'm sorry
portable power in my storage unit that
did not have lights it just had the
clicky light
and
some people use the clicky light and
they put a little outlet there but
that's against the policy so when it
opened i moved everything from dublin to
san leandro and then since i live in
oakland this one opened so i moved
everything again like maybe not even one
month after i moved into that unit this
opened up and i quickly came over here
opened up one unit then while i was here
i waited
for two units next to each other to open
up
and then i moved again just like from
one area of the storage over here and
now i have three consecutive 10 by 40
units and a lot of people are saying now
i'm ready to graduate and do a warehouse
but i don't know here it's interesting
because they take care of all the
security it's super duper ridiculously
clean
and the security oakland's not the
safest place so i like that they have
really really safe
a safe space but i do pay a premium if i
moved to a more dangerous part of
oakland and did my own security it would
be way cheaper i could park my g wagon

the item specifics are missing these
item specifics don't even relate to the
item i just ignore those ones so i only
think you put the you put every single
item specific that might help your
customer find it if your sales are slow
okay
then do the extra credit fill out stuff
except for if there is not something do
not make something up because that will
hurt you so don't put n a or nothing or
albatross or banana to fill it in so you
get the blue lightning bolt you don't
need that you just need the relevant
item specifics so for some items it
might literally be
five item specifics and 20 blank ones
and that's okay they'll still sell
because those are relevant remember
ebay search is based on relevancy
so if you enter in stuff that's made up
you're decreasing your relevancy so
ignore the ad item specific reminder
i mean in some cases

below standard for a while defect
cleared immediately went top rated i
list five
plus items a day consistently what
should i focus on now to double
build consistency okay so now that you
just got a vb out of ebay jail which is
where they punish you and flog you with
no traffic if you fall below a certain
level
i would say maintain so what i would do
is five listings a day for a hundred
days that's three
three and a half months ish
if you feel like doing extra credit you
can but the focus is just make sure you
stay consistent so all you need to be
healthy is to exercise and eat well but
that's easier said than done so the way
i recommend doing that is focus on at
least going for a walk a day and focus
on eating at least one healthy thing a
day
right once you have that in place you
can build a five a day listing habit is
all you need that's why my reseller
jumpstart is only five listings
less than five listings you're not going
to boost your store up significantly
you're not going to notice one to four
listings a day is okay
but it's not going to really jumpstart
your store if it's broken
um yeah actually there were two a couple
questions that were relating to taking a
break from ebay how
to restart that which we have a video on
yeah we do so that's the reseller

if your store has been broken and you
didn't do anything there was a person
who didn't answer questions for four
months
um
got suspended reached out to ebay and
said i'm really sorry for for dropping
the ball and screwing it up and they
ignored him but he kept messaging back
and eventually because he was consistent
and asking they let him reopen his ebay
account i don't recommend
getting a different ebay account if
you've been suspended they'll just
suspend that one the only way around
that would be to get a new ip address
and a new social security number so
before you screw up your sister's social
security number make sure you know what
you're doing but eventually ebay will
let you back on their platform that's
been my experience but it's not fast
people want immediate results but you
screwed ebay by doing a really bad job
so they're not that easy to forgive you
it takes time so it's like you can't
just cheat on them and they expect them
to take you back right away take time
build that trust up again maybe that
trust can't be repaired just like in
real life and you'll have to sell on
something else
maybe maybe one more two more
um
well there's a recap on someone is
asking about the templates thing again
okay that they can't edit it i figured
okay so answer was for that the template
situation um
learn how to do a cell similar and you
can avoid the templates
but just
don't use it i mean this sounds really
crazy don't use a template if it's not
available
templates are
like
if there's no internet i don't give up
and cry i just go somewhere with
internet right i just just work around
it if they don't have the coffee you
like have tea don't
do not cry about it and don't tell
anybody because right now while you
asking the question of
what the templates are down so i can't
work there's somebody out there who uses
templates like me who's just doing it
manually so we use templates and
sometimes they're down but our listening
goal happens no matter what

numbered bin inventory system to your
numbered item method like how do you
convert it how did you convert it yeah
so essentially what you do is you i
don't have a specific video on it but
you get one bin right you take it out
you go to your desk
like okay this is the old system right
so you get one bin you get an empty box
you put it on the right side
maybe your listings are
wrong so you open it up
you look up the first item right
make sure everything is good change the
item sku
put it into the new system
that's it i mean i literally did that
with a few thousand items transferring
from all system new system it's not
overly complicated this is also how you
fix a bad store you
take one section at a time and just keep
doing it so if i did this box today this
box tomorrow this box the next day and
so on until you've completed and fixed
your entire store it will take time just
like
um
statistically half of you in the chat
are overweight because we live in the
united states of america that didn't
happen overnight right so getting in the
shape requires the same amount of effort
in reverse to go back the other way and
i'm just saying i'm here to whip your
ebay store in the shape that's why i'm
using that analogy so getting your store
in shape starts with one healthy food
right the food is um
listing a good quality item
the exercise part is fixing an old item
so
you can't fix it if you keep putting
items into your store that suck it's
exactly the same as the you can't out
train a poor diet you can't eat donuts
all day and expect to be
in shape so you can't list garbage
please for the love of god stop saying
can i just list anything and it counts
as my listings for the day absolutely
not okay absolutely not can you re-list
an item instead of listing a new item
absolutely not 100 no does not count
that's not the same let's just fix
that's fixing an old one which is
different
right that's not
that's not putting good food into your
ebay body
