hey guys
welcome to my channel my name is destiny
gabrielle
i am a real estate broker here in the
state of north carolina so i just wanted
to talk to you today i'm
kind of try doing a lot right now but
i'm driving so what
is a better time to talk than when i'm
sitting here stationary for now
so i am currently a brand new broker
i just got my license here in june and i
wanted to give you a high level
account of what i have experienced and
some things that i think i could have
done better had i had more information
so first of all to get your license in
the state of north carolina
you have to go through a pre-licensing
course
so what you want to do is you want to
find a school
it can be a community college or a
specialized real estate location
that provides a pre-licensing course
you can find a list of all these courses
on the ncrec dot
gov website so they have like a pdf
document with all of the schools that
offer it depending on your location
now a slight caveat to this before
the year of 2020 just like everything
else
um north carolina did not offer a
online pre-licensing course
so there it was everything was in person
it was live and in person
but due to covet 19 um
and the social distancing laws and all
of that right now
um there are some places that offer
online schools so if you have maybe been
thinking about
doing your getting your real estate
license and
you could not do it because of child
care or work or whatever
they do now offer online classes so that
was one of my hang-ups
was as a young mom i didn't have
first of all i work a full-time job and
second of all i have a very young son
so the in-person class was not the
easiest thing for me to do but before
um i got my license
so for me i am a young mom and i have a
very young son
who is three his name is kylan and
i was so worried about the in-person
class because of finding child care and
as we know
child care is definitely not cheap
but i did bite the bullet and i did do
the in-person class because when at the
time
i took my class with i started at the
second week of january and i finished in
march
and i did two days a week day classes
and i went locally in mooresville i went
to mitchell community college
i had a phenomenal teacher
i want to say professor i'm so used to
the college terminology
i had a phenomenal instructor and
i actually passed my exam on the first
try
now i am historically i'm a really good
test taker
but but
i studied my behind
off for this exam because that exam
the state specifically the state portion
of the exam because there's two parts
there's the national and then there's
the state part
of the exam by far the hardest test
i've ever taken point-blank period
but i'm going to digress so i did my
pre-licensing class
past that because you do have to take
well when i was in school
you had to take the the final exam for
your pre-licensing class and in order
for you to get the credit for the
pre-licensing exam
you had to pass it with i think a 75 or
better
and then that way you get your um
you get your credit for the class then
what you're going to do is you're going
to do a background check
now that background check all this
information is again is on the ncrec.gov
website then you're gonna do your
background check
once you do your background check
provided that everything comes back
clear you'll do your application fee
which is like a hundred dollars or
something like that and then once you
get your application and it's processed
and accepted by the ncrac
which is the real estate commission at
the north carolina real estate
commission
once you get it accepted through them
then you will be able to
register for your exam for your state
and national exam through psi testing
once you do that i believe that
sixty-four dollars if that hasn't
changed
but if i will check make sure you go to
ncrec.gov and check all this information
especially pricing
because because of everything going on
things are changing like
by the day but once i did i registered
for my
my exam i went and took my exam
and then i passed it on the first try
now that's not to say that it's easy
because like i said it is not easy
but i had a lot of material that i used
to study
and as i was going through things i kind
of narrowed down what do i need to know
for the exam
and what is just stuff that's good to
know for my job
so that i wasn't studying so much
because there's so many laws
there's so many um ways that you do
things and
everything so um one of the most helpful
um resources that i had was travis
everett he's here on youtube i'll make
sure to link his
um his youtube channel down in the
description box
but he is phenomenal as well so between
him and my instructor in class
i i mean i did really well so then once
i passed
i passed my exam super exciting and you
find out immediately after so it's not
one of those things where you have to
take a test
and wait for like days or weeks you find
out immediately after if you passed
you have to wait on your license to come
through once your license gets to you
then you have officially become a
licensed
real estate broker in north carolina
you are issued a provisional license
meaning you have to be
supervised by a broker in charge which
is somebody that
has gone through all the necessary
certifications and education
requirements
to be able to oversee provisional
brokers
for a bunch of different reasons
advertising making sure you don't break
laws things like that so then once you
get to that point
then you have to take three 30-hour post
licensing courses
and again it's the same thing you can
take them through a community college
you can take them through a dedicated
real estate
school and i've heard that now they're
offering them online so
i'll make sure to have some of this
stuff linked in the description box
that you have direct links to resources
that
are with the north carolina real estate
commission so you are getting
up-to-date information everything that
you
do to get your license costs
money by the time you get your license
you join a brokerage and you start
paying monthly desk fees
and things like that and
you do you join the realtor association
you join and then you get your mls
subscription and your super
key subscriptions you're well in over a
thousand dollars
probably closer to two that's not
including the gas that's not including
your materials it's not including
books and the different things that you
need to get yourself started marketing
materials and all of that it is
expensive
with that being said um i am with
exp realty um if you want to know more
information about them i'll link them
down below
um if you'd like if you're interested in
joining if you already have your real
estate license
and i'll be happy to give you more
information about my experience with
them and
best tips and tricks that i've learned
since i've been with exp
and if there's anything that i can do
for you um to give you more information
you just let me know
again i'm in north carolina so it varies
like the laws and requirements and
things like that vary
by state so you want to make sure that
if you
are looking for information that you're
going to somebody that is familiar with
your state
your state's laws and all of that
preferably somebody that's
licensed so that you know that they know
their stuff
well
i digress make sure that you talk to
somebody in your state
um so i'm again my name is destiny
gabrielle i just wanted to have this
really impromptu chat and just give you
a high level
um of information of things that you
need need to do
i'll make sure to have a checklist
listed down below so if you're like me
and type in you like to check things off
if that's satisfying for you
i'll provide that resource down in the
description box
and let me know if i can be of any
assistance all of my contact information
will be down below as well
and i want you to comment down below
