to live but today I'm going to give you
about 10 reasons why you might want to
avoid this place
stick around

love talking to people about what it's
like relocating to North Carolina So
today we're going to talk about almost
10 reasons why you should probably avoid
North Carolina now I'm not saying that
these are negative and I'm not saying
that they're positive either
and I've lived in North Carolina
primarily since 2002 and I've lived on
the coast of Wilmington I've lived in
the triangle which is the Raleigh Durham
Chapel Hill area and I've lived in
Charlotte and I've also had rental
properties in Greensboro and
Fayetteville so I have a good sense of
the state of North Carolina and I've
experienced just about all the stuff
that I've mentioned in this video and
these are my own opinions but it's not
my job to give you my opinion on if it's
good or bad I'm here to tell you about
my experiences and let you decide for
yourself if it's a positive or negative
and for you to decide if North Carolina
is the place that you want to call home
so let's start off by getting this taboo
subject out of the way
North Carolina is a very purple State
the cities are very liberal with the
exception of Wilmington but once you go
outside of the Cities about 20 or 25
miles it gets very conservative very
quickly there are parts of the states
where you'll see Maga Flags or Trump
2020 or Trump 2024 flags and then there
are areas of the state where you'll see
more signs like this
and you will have a much more diverse
population with various languages being
spoken people in North Carolina love
their beer their Bible Bourbon and their
guns also people in North Carolina
support the right to work state that
North Carolina is and some people like
that and some people don't but that's
just the way North Carolina is and if
you're unfamiliar with what a right to
work state is I suggest you research it
yes I went to law school in practice law
but I will not be answering any legal
questions so after you've done your
research and please I'm not talking
about looking up answers on Facebook but
after you've done your research and if
you don't feel comfortable that North
Carolina is a right to work state then
North Carolina may not be for you the
second reason why you might want to
avoid North Carolina is that the weather
on the eastern part and the western part
of the state can be very extreme the
eastern part of the state is near the
coast and it does get severe weather
such as her hurricanes and tropical
storms and also flooding and there's
also large parts of flooding throughout
Fayetteville North Carolina but then
there is out west where there are
mountains and you have to deal with
serious significant amount of snow
during the winter but for most of the
state I'm talking about the triangle
region the Triad region and the
Charlotte area the weather really
doesn't get too extreme if you can
handle a little snow and yes I do mean a
little snow because on average Charlotte
gets only five inches of snow a year and
Raleigh and Greensboro gets about three
to five inches respectively as well so
for the majority of North Carolina if
you can handle a little snow
it is perfect for you but on the
positive side when there's any potential
of snow or ice the entire State shuts
down because here in North Carolina we
just don't have the infrastructure to
clear the roads and to sort the roads
fast enough temperatures can get very
very hot during the summer time but the
fall time is absolutely perfect you will
definitely get all four seasons if you
live here in North Carolina let's move
on to number three North Carolina has
some crazy and I do mean crazy Wildlife
down here I live in the city of
Charlotte but at least three to maybe
four times a year I see deer or a family
of deer as I drive now I know that's not
crazy but I wanted to ease you into the
crazy stuff if you don't like snakes
North Carolina probably isn't for you
this is one I wish I had known because I
am a when it comes to snakes and
yes I've had snakes in my garage and
I've also seen shedded snakeskin as I've
mowed them on yes I'm not above
admitting I screamed I ran every time I
saw a snake or even the snake's skin
lying around and then I called a
neighbor or a family member to come take
care of it I don't mess with snakes also
almost daily you'll see somebody post on
next door next door is the community
social app and they're posting about a
snake and wondering if it's a copperhead
or not and yes all of these posts do get
annoying but then on occasion someone
will post something like this
today
and then you will really reconsider your
decision about living in North Carolina
along the eastern coast of North
Carolina yes you will come across
alligators
those prehistoric creatures they still
do exist here in North Carolina in the
western part of the state you will come
across black bears and for the most part
they aren't really worried about us
humans but if you're out camping and
have some food lying around
they will be concerned about your food
so I recommend having some bear spray if
you're not comfortable with guns but if
you are comfortable with guns make sure
you have at least a 44 magnum another
Wildlife creature that absolutely freaks
me out here in North Carolina are all of
the spiders and yes we have all of them
from black widows to brown recluses all
of them
I was out showing a home recently and I
saw this giant thing
now I'm glad it was way up near the roof
of the home because if it was any closer
I would have left my clients at that
very moment and called them once I got a
safe distance away now if you've watched
my channel you probably know that I'm
from New York and I've lived in DC so
I'm used to seeing rats
I was not used to seeing flying roaches
here in North Carolina they call them
something else here but no they are
flying roaches here in North Carolina
terrifying let's move on to number four
the fourth reason why you might want to
avoid North Carolina is that tourism is
a thing here in North Carolina the state
is a destination spot for a lot of
people we have the mountains and we also
have the coast but as a resident there's
a lot of things happening in the middle
of the state that I know there's tons of
tourists coming in to see whether that
is the Biltmore whether it's the state
fair or it's a Nascar event there's
always tourism here in North Carolina
and as a resident you really do feel the
influx of people because our
infrastructure enrolls here in North
Carolina are already a little bit
congested during rush hour
but when there's an event or there's
vacationers in town it gets almost
unbearable traffic gets backed up
seriously so as a resident here in North
Carolina when there's an event taking
place you really do have to plan
accordingly for your ordinary trips to
and from the grocery store or to and
from work the next reason why you might
want to avoid North Carolina especially
the Charlotte area
is because people can't drive I know
North Carolinians will argue with me on
this one but facts are facts people in
North Carolina just can't drive and I
know people born and raised in North
Carolina are going to blame other people
or the transplants coming in as to why
people can drive but for the sake of
argument
let's just say that the people here
living in North Carolina cannot drive so
if you want to stay with competent
drivers you might want to avoid North
Carolina
people forget how to act with human
decency once they get in their car it's
weird because when you're walking around
you do feel that southern hospitality
and people are cordial for the most part
but then when they get in the car
I don't know a light switch flips on
and everybody just becomes crazy it's
almost like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde now
let's talk about the sixth reason why
you might want to avoid North Carolina
and for some of you it might not be a
big deal and it wasn't a big deal for me
for a very long time but when it became
a deal it became a huge deal and I'm
talking about allergies if you get
seasonal allergies or in my case adult
onset seasonal allergies you may want to
avoid North Carolina the pollen gets so
thick during that time of year that
you'll think that everybody's driving
around in a yellow car yes it is that
serious just make sure that you're
stocked up on Allegra D or Claritin-D
because you're going to need it and at
one point I even tried a trick that I
heard some people talking about and
that's eating local raw honey on the
regular basis leading up to the spring
and summer
but while I did love the honey
that trick didn't work for me so again
have your allergy medication on hand now
let's talk about another elephant in the
room
for those of you who like diversity
diversity and thought diversity in
population parts of North Carolina
seriously lacking that department so if
you want diversity diversity in
population or diversity in thought you
may want to check out some of the larger
cities within the state now the eighth
reason why you might want to avoid North
Carolina is because there is a
population boom people are moving to
North Carolina at a very Swift pace so
if you're thinking about moving to North
Carolina with the hopes or idea of
getting to a sparsely populated state
North Carolina might not be for you as I
said earlier North Carolinians love
their beer love their Bible love their
Bourbon and they love their guns
if you do not like guns or seeing people
with guns North Carolina may not be for
you now I remember the first time that I
got introduced to the gun culture here
in North Carolina and it was when I was
in law school one of my friends who's
now an attorney in the western part of
the state invited me and a couple other
people to the gun range now in my head
I'm thinking yeah let's go to the gun
range fire a couple of handguns
but what I thought in my head
was totally different than what actually
happened when he showed up this man had
an arsenal at the time he had a
four-door sedan and I didn't know that
you could fit so many gun cases and
ammunition into a small four-door sedan
needless to say
at that very moment I realized that
people in North Carolina are very very
serious about their guns and after that
experience while in law school a lot of
us went ahead and got our gun permits
and eventually got our Concealed Carry
Permits so if you're scared of guns or
scared of seeing people with guns I
should clarify that if you're scared of
seeing people of all Races with guns
maybe North Carolina is not the place
for you now again these are my top
reasons on why you should probably avoid
North Carolina now I'm not saying
they're negative and I'm not saying
they're positive
I've been here since 2002 and this has
been my experience of what it's like
living here in North Carolina and let me
know what you think which one of these
talking points are positive
in your eyes and which ones are negative
in your eyes now if you're serious about
moving to North Carolina please make
sure you reach out give me a call shoot
