like us and love
beautiful pristine pure nature
and especially the nature of costa rica
so much
that you are even thinking of moving
here and buying land here the good news
is is that you can you can buy land here
as long as you have a passport and some
of your savings
you're able to buy land here as a
foreigner which is the first most
important thing when you're moving to a
new country in the first place
not every country in the world allows
you to just buy their land and move
there instantly
in this video we're gonna be sharing all
the juicy details on what it takes to
buy land in costa rica
and we're also going to share with you
the price
of our land which is actually top secret
but just in this video we're going to
share it with you that is top secret
yeah i know that's why i said it because
i know you actually don't want to tell
them it's personal right but whatever
we'll share with you guys our social
security number our passport number
and we'll share with you our address
let's get right into it all right so to
start out this video i firstly want to
mention that it's really difficult to
generalize for all of costa rica how
much land costs it really depends on the
different areas you're looking whether
you're looking for beach land mountain
land land that's usable non-usable
access to water electricity everything
so there are many different factors that
go along with finding land that could
make our prices not apply to the land
that you found in costa rica the first
thing
is that if you're gonna buy land by the
ocean you can easily expect any price we
say throughout this video for that size
of land to be at least five to ten times
the price by the ocean so now that we
got ocean out of the way let's take you
guys on our land searching journey on
our number one land that we went to
it was an online land so we are about to
enter the gates to the first property
that we're gonna check out we're at 940
meters to like three thousand
feet wow two thousand feet it was the
only option we had because we knew
absolutely no one in costa rica it's our
first time here and so the only way for
us to get accustomed to the land here
was to find online listings so we
arrived and what was the land like well
it was way too big first of all which
might seem little like 35k per hectare
however this is without water without
electricity without internet without
roads good roads because we literally
got stuck on the road okay go for it hit
it
hit the gas mar hit the gas as noobs we
walk up into this 10
hectare
land thinking that we're going to live
off the grid and self-sustainable and
that we're going to buy the first ever
land that we looked at this could be the
road that we travel on a bunch to get
our supplies from the city and buy it
with friends and start a community we're
so convinced we're like we're ready to
do this the first ever land this is the
one it's meant to be it's meant to be
this property hasn't been developed at
all i love that it shows the rawness it
shows the potential it shows how
and then we got a reality check we were
excited about this first land and we
went back to our hotel for the night and
the owner of the hotel was french
and he we told him we were like we found
lieutenant hector land it's gonna be
great for us right and he was like guys
10 hectares is way too much land do you
know how much maintenance and cost it's
gonna take to like maintain this huge
piece of land and we're like
huh it's true i guess so and so after
having this conversation with the french
guy we're like okay
i guess we don't need so much land also
i just want to say that he kept saying
this
you don't want to be lost you don't want
to be lost we're like what does lost
mean and it took a while until we
realized oh you mean too far in the
middle of nowhere and we quickly
realized oh he's so right after the
first land we never ever even went on a
online real estate website ever again
all of our lands were just boots on the
ground talking to locals asking them is
this land for sale is this land for sale
that is the absolute best way to look at
land in costa rica is get your booty to
costa rica get on the ground and start
asking around the locals that's our
personal recommendation so it seems like
with our basic conversational spanish we
managed to manifest our dreamland with
locals that only spoke a foreign
language to us
and now since they're gonna be our
full-time neighbors it's kind of a
different story with building a
long-lasting relationship and so
therefore we just started learning
spanish with lingoda which is an online

classes we were looking for sizes
between one acre to one hectare and this
is the price range that we're going to
share with you today crazy we 10 x minus
our land from our first one it's crazy
how big we were thinking yeah yeah
literally i think i wouldn't buy that
i've been way too much maintenance we
then started looking for one hector
lands which is about 2.4 acres we found
the land that we nearly bought
which is beautiful we absolutely love it
which was going for 50 000
in the south of costa rica 20 minutes
from the beach and 20 minutes from the
nearest city which is great that is the
lowest you can probably find in an area
that has
somewhat electricity access good roads
community like as in people around you
that you can talk to engage and all kind
of like-minded
and water is right there as well with
established sort of everything
that's the least you can expect since
our main criteria was to find land with
clean river axis
we heard about a land about one hour
away from the city and decided to visit
it to see if we'd find a hidden gem
and oh boy we did
this land had the most beautiful river
axes we had so far seen and it was
definitely our top three favorite lands
in costa rica and the price was
definitely the most affordable one too
for only twenty thousand dollars per
hectare
however after many times of us
revisiting this piece each time we
noticed more and more hidden costs that
were needed for roads electricity and
water
so
we realized that usually the lands that
were the cheapest often required the
most investments into basic utilities so
the real price isn't actually the asking
price but it's the price after taking
the utility costs into full
consideration
one hectare seems like a lot of land
however two-thirds of the hectare was
primary force that you don't want to
deforest and so out of the one hectare
you could only use like three 000 square
meters for your land and for food and
everything so it is possible to find
land in costa rica for 20 000 per
hectare
it's just most likely gonna be missing
some infrastructure and being far away
from civilization yeah
but
we're just gonna keep the faith because
we know
the land the perfect land
is awaiting us it is possible we know it
is and then we came up north for a
permaculture course where we thought we
were going to be applying all these
skills in the course
to this land
but then we got here to this region and
we were absolutely blown away come here
how blown away were we at all the
lushness of rivers
and mountains and just pure nature so we
started looking here and currently we
are on one of the first lands that we
actually viewed over here as you can
tell it is very flat it is brown because
it's already been flattened so that you
can build your house on it
and you'd be surprised about the price
it was literally 45 000
for two acres for this piece where you
could build
your house here
however
you think that's a lot of land but wait
till we show you this part
so all of this here belongs to the two
acres and it actually turns out that
most of the land
is
super steep so steep that you can't
really do much with it so honestly it
feels like half of an acre it feels yeah
it feels like half an acre or even less
because most of it is steep unusable
land which is why it's also cheaper even
though there's electricity already on
the land oh yeah there's electricity
there's water and there's a beautiful
mountain view there is this was our
good roads this was our second option if
we didn't buy our land this is our
second favorite however you're really
near to the main road so you constantly
have sounds from from car noises
motorbikes and
way less privacy and more petty theft
our only problem with this land
was it wasn't in a very secure location
it's a beautiful piece however we wanted
a little bit more usable land and so if
someone tells you oh two acres for
forty five thousand dollars it might
sound like a good price and a good deal
at first
that is why we say
visit the land walk on it because you
realize most of it i can't even use and
that's a shame
should we go visit our dreamland and
then tell them the price of it
oh we haven't yet no
oh my gosh it's time to reveal our land
price let's go
to the land and finally reveal to you
how much our land cost

our land includes drinking water from a
natural spring electricity that's
powered by the nearby hydro plant the
cleanest river in the entire world a
beautiful mountain an expansive view and
many other things
the cost for our dream land
is
five dollars no

000 us dollars
for
one acre
and so
it's definitely on the pricier side of
all the lands we've seen
but when you know you know you got to
follow your heart and if you don't
listen to the calling then you may
regret it later and we we couldn't buy
another land after seeing this one
for us we wanted to invest
and buy land that was top quality yeah
we're top quality people
shut up
our heart both was like you want to
plant roots here this is the land so
look we know before we bought this land
that we could have bought any old
regular land
flat land nothing special about it
you're not going to have any view
anywhere close to this or to mountainous
land for around
five to ten thousand dollars probably in
the u.s probably in costa rica we could
have found that
but we wanted to wake up and feel like
wow
baby we are living
in the most special place in the world
on paradise and so that was our criteria
we wanted a beautiful experience tonight
this is where we're gonna live raise our
kids live every single day of our life
and so we feel super excited and we
wanted to invest in quality
and
this is the price of quality here in
costa rica i would say it is possible to
find land in costa rica under 20k if
you're just buying one hector it is also
possible to find land for one acre
ranging from 30 to 60k
and if you're looking for multiple
hectares then you could find a price for
like 20 30 40k per hectare so
it is all
under 100 000
like depending on what you're looking
for so it is doable and also some of you
asked us um
how we're able to pay for this and so i
would love to
quickly go into this without his consent
which is we actually didn't have all the
money up front as of now to pay for the
land so we actually put a down payment
of 30
and we're paying every month for the
next two years
and so the land is already in our name
it is our land
just in two years we have to go to the
notary just to check and sign off that
we we paid for the land off and then
there she goes yeah and so if you don't
have all the money right now i just want
to let you know that if you if you build
a relationship with a local there are
ways to do it you can always send us a
message on our discord if you have any
more specific questions but it is really
doable for us we have no problem like
paying off every month because there's
nowhere that we want our money that
we're making every month to go to than
the most beautiful land in the entire
world yeah that's what we're fine with
it and instead of paying rent
we're paying up for our land that is
then ours
and some of you were also asking where
we get our money from we do get it
mainly online we did make a crypto
investment that was really successful
last year which we have used to purchase
this land with so far and our current
living expenses and obviously we're
still going to be earning through
sponsorships like the sponsor in this
video and these sponsors are the ones
that help us pay back monthly for this
new earth dream homestead land all right

five another question you guys have
asked is
are you able to get a residency here and
eventually become a citizen of costa
rica the answer is
yes there are certain ways to do it one
way is by having a 150 000 investment in
this country meaning it could be in land
plus your home build plus
i don't know your business or something
second way is to have a baby here and
third way is the rentista vista visa
where you need to have a certain amount
of money in your bank account and then
you can qualify for it too so for us
um we're still figuring it out because
currently the land is not equivalent to
the residency investment investment to
finally be able to get a citizenship
takes many many years we don't know
exactly the amount maybe five to seven
years but it is possible after residency
only
