hey guys my name is jason with mount
baker mining and metals and on today's
video i'm gonna
uh get my gold and silver ready to sell
here i'm working on getting my stuff
sold
um and so i i've got all these little
beads in these vials and i've got some
bigger beads and
some this one's probably got more silver
and these two have more gold in them
and so i wanted to show you guys the
process i'm going to combine all these
little beads with some of these larger
gold beads
as well as these silver beads and i want
to try and get the the silver
containing stuff together and the gold
containing stuff together here so we can
get
uh get our precious metals kind of
lumped together there's still quite a
bit of gold in this stuff
uh and the stuff that has silver in it
but uh there's enough silver that it
makes it
silvery in color so and i get a lot of
questions about
you know why don't you import your stuff
with silver
and refine it with nitric acid and one
of the reasons is there's really no
advantage
to doing that the refiners don't care
that you're going to sell it to
and it's just a lot of work and a lot of
hassle so i'm going to get paid when i
sell this
for example the silver one they're going
to give me 95
value of the gold and silver in here and
if i broke it out into a pure gold
button and a pure silver button they
wouldn't
they'd give me 95 percent of the
precious metals so there's really no
reason to refine it
any further than this after the cue
pelling process
so i'm going to take our our little
beads i'm going to mix them all up in a
cupel
and mix a little bit of lead in there
with them
and drive off the lead oxidize any of
the little base metals that are left in
here
and we'll get our our beads precious
metal beads that we can then uh
weigh up and sell to refiner all right
so i got our little beads in our keepels
here
this is uh our more gold colored beads
and these are our more silver colored
beads
so i'm going to take them and i'm going
to mix just a little bit of lead in with
them
not much maybe 10 grams or so and that
lead's going to melt
and alloy with the gold and the silver
and it'll make a puddle and then in the
furnace
the lead will oxidize and be absorbed
into the cupel
and as that process continues you'll be
left with a precious metal
uh prill at the end in the in the kypel
so i'm gonna go put these in our furnace
now
and we'll get to uh driving the lead off
and we'll see what
we end up with with our precious metal
buttons
all right so here they are these are all
the beads we've got uh
this one and this one that i keep held
uh
all the little beads to make them bigger
another thing that i found
is there's a lot of people
that will actually buy this gold from
the local area that know about the mine
and know about where it came from
and and they just really want to kind of
buy some gold
uh and and a piece of history
essentially
and so i've got these three buttons sold
actually
um for spot price and even though
they're only about
92 percent gold or so i've texted them
with the extra f gun
people are still willing to pay a
premium for them just because they came
from a certain mine or from a certain
area
these ones back here with the silver in
them these came from miscellaneous
uh concentrates and stuff so i'll
probably just send these off to
uh to a refiner but yeah i wanted to
pass that info
on you guys if you guys do start getting
some gold beads and some gold buttons
um a refiner will certainly take them
but you might be able to get a premium
on your gold
by selling it to locals in your area who
know about the mine or want a piece of
history so
i hope you guys enjoyed the video thanks
for watching if you have any questions
or comments you can find our contact
information in the description below
so thanks again for watching and we'll
see on the next video
